As close to a NY Deli as you can find in the DC area 4/29/2006

This is not a perfect rendition of a NY Jewish-style deli, but it's darned close. The basics are good: chopped liver, the half-sour pickles, the black-and-white cookies. I've had far better matzoh ball soup and some other items, but overall, there is not other NY/Jewish-style deli in DC (which is just odd I think). This place can be crowded, so expect to wait at prime times, and also, I have seen cleaner restaurants :-P more

Chutzpah Has a Pulse on NYC 4/16/2006

Chutzpah’s owners came from New York and brought with them all the delights that a real New York City deli has to offer. The sandwiches are delicious and portions generous. The owners are always happy to suggest ideas if you are having trouble deciding. And the service is quick. I especially enjoy the corned beef on rye, it is heavenly, but truthfully, I have never had a mediocre meal. I have yet to dine there for breakfast, but I hope to soon. more

Great New York food 4/15/2006

We found this place by chance and love it. The sandwiches are great. I love the chicken fingers sandwich-big enough for two meals. We mostly get it take out so I really haven't experienced the sit down meal there. They have all kind of authenic New York food and I got to try an egg cream. more

Good deli/cafe with a NY attitude 9/25/2005

This place has great sandwiches if you stick to their specialties. Corned beef is great, but the tuna was not so good. They also offer Dr. Brown's soda which is a real treat. The matzo ball soup, knishes and bagels were also very good. The wait staff frequently seems stressed and overworked, but then it just kind of gives you the NY feeling. The portions (particularly sandwiches) are enormous so either come hungry or prepare to share. Parking is a little painful given the location of the restaurant in the strip mall - but nothing too painful. more

Real New York Deli it is... 8/13/2005

Well, i don't like some of the food their, and i sent the sandwich i ordered back becuase portion of the bread was stone hard, but the soup their was good. The environment was fair enough, with a pretty roomy space and good air flow, they have these two fisted bagel which i wouldnt recommend ordering, i think they should either buy fresher bread products or back it themselves. All in all, the deli was a "real new york deli" only a few hundred miles from the real new york. more
