So you're looking for dim-sum and you think Chinatown. Normally you'd be right , however this family owned restaurant, tucked next to a McDonalds in the Newton wants you to know there is an alternative. Long known for it's Taiwanese a la cart brunch menu, Chung-Shin Yuan is a warm welcome albeit busy place to have your first meal of the day. Everything on the menu feels homemade and your fellow are diners look like regulars, and they probably are. From crispy fried dough, to ribs, 5 spice beef sandwich, spicy noodle soup to dumplings, all are yummy. My favorite dish is Crispy beef which is on the regular menu, which are very thin slices of beef, fried crisp with tangy sweet/spicy sauce, which I have not seen anywhere else in Boston.
Pros: Best Taiwanese brunch, authentic
Cons: wait for table, occasional spotty service
