Great breakfast! Great sandwiches! Real affordable. Love the people there, family owned and you feel it when you go there. They remember you! We always see Chris in the restaurant and he always makes sure he comes to the table and says hello-appreciates the business! Not everyone does that these days! more

Oh heaven! 10/26/2008

We discovered this place by being really really hungry one morning and not having any food in the house. My husband piled us up in the car and we drove south to this restaurant. We ordered basic breakfast meals for myself, my husband and my 3 yr old daughter. THE BEST PANCAKES I HAVE EVER HAD! We have ended up going back here for breakfast several times, each time trying out different stuff, and then once for lunch cuz we were in the area. Everyone there is so nice and trying to always make us happy. My husband never has had to ask once for a refill on his water (and he drinks like a cow). more

These are by far, the very best pancakes I have ever eaten. The service was nice and friendly and the atmosphere buzzed with good food and good conversation. When I'm at work and those delicious pancakes are calling my name, I will call my order in and it's ready when I pick it up. And let me say this, the pancakes aren't the only good thing I've eaten there, but EVERYTHING I've eaten there was very very good. more

Best breakfast 5/1/2008

I went to Chris's with my family which was 10 people and this was on a Saturday around 2:00pm. We didn't have to wait very long and let me tell you there were a lot lot lot of people. The waitress we had was very nice and the service was fast considering we had 10 people. When it is busy though it is hard to find a place to park. The lot is not very big. But otherwise the food is delicious, especially the breakfast . You have to try it!!!! Pros: Great service, Great Food Cons: Parking is a pain, small lot more

Most consistent service in STL 6/1/2007

I live in the neighborhood and have yet to find any place in the St. Louis area with more consistent service. Even on busy days they get you in fast and get your food out quickly and hot. They even have a great complimentary coffee station for anyone in the waiting area. This works great for those of us who can handle waiting for food but not for our morning jolt! I would recommend Chris' to anyone of any age group. Truly a fine South City establishment. Pros: Free coffee for people waiting, great service Cons: Parking is somewhat limited when really busy more

A great place to dine! 1/25/2006

This is a great place for several reasons. The food is great and so are the prices. The service is consistently top notch. I never had a rude waiter or waitress and I have been a repeat customer for over 10 years. This place can get very busy (at certain times), especially on the weekends at breakfast time but hey, it is a popular place. Chris' is also a great place for children. The appetizers are great also! A cardiologist's best friend 10/24/2002

While the pancakes, omlettes, and virtually everything else in this place are great, and usually as big as your head, there a couple of standouts that keep me going back everytime I'm back home in St. Louis. 1) Fried Chicken. Best in St. Louis, or anywhere else. And seven bucks for half a chicken and 2 sides? Heaven 2) Mozarella sticks. Best anywhere because I think they are actually home made. Mmmm Fried Cheese. The toasted Ravs aren't bad either, but I think the owner is Italian which helps explain the presence of certain Hill staples on the menu more

Breakfast with Italian Spice 8/13/2002

2 eggs scrambled, hashbrowns, pancakes and salsiccia (italian sausage links) after an appetizer of maple cookies with walnuts - fresh from the oven if you get there early. Who could ask for more? This is just a sample of the food available at Chris'. But it's not just breakfast - they have a full lunch with home-made soup and their dinner menu has a number of regular specials in addition to their standard menu fare. when I was their 8/13/2002

My daughter lived in St. Louis and went in for breakfast with the kids(all 3 boys) it rated the highest with us as she is also a chef. The people who served us were great and everything was more than I could eat. I give it a 10+ rating. Hope to be back there again soon. Pros: good parking, inexpensive, great for kids more

Excellent attention to the basics here. Good food and deep menu for everyone's breakfast favorite. Servers bring fresh coffee before you realize you need it--no carafes of coffee made earlier here. more

    The crowd at this large, comfy restaurant changes throughout the day. In the morning, when waits can be long, it attracts just about everyone. Don't sweat it, though--just grab a seat and watch the kids launch pennies into the red gravity well by the door. Lunchtime sees business types roll in for burgers and sandwiches. Teenagers and assorted night owls populate the place after dark. Ask to sit in the sun room, which is quieter, not to mention smoke-free.
    The Food
    As you'd expect, the pancakes are really good. Try the buckwheat variety if you're in the mood for a change. Omelettes are another can't-miss option. They come with hash browns and pancakes, so be prepared to eat.
