Chris Frangos is an excellent piano teacher with the chops to play anything by ear and the skill and patience to craft a lesson to the student's ability. My parents and I saw some musical ability in my son at a younger age. When he turned 10, we decided that it was time to have him start taking piano lessons. Piano was what he was interested in learning. My Dad volunteered to look into finding a teacher and this is an activity that he wanted to be involved in with his grandson as he believed the ability to play the piano was a wonderful talent to posses and something that his grandson would be able to do all his life.\r \r Enter Chris, my Dad came across Chris Frangos and was very impressed with his personal demeanor, enthusiasm for teaching and willingness to accommodate providing lessons at a convenient time so that my Dad would be able to take my son on a weekly basis. \r \r After a few lessons, Dad said to me you have to meet Chris and listen to him play along at the lessons, he is so talented but is also a fantastic teacher and you can't believe how fast your son is learning to play the piano. We are coming up on our 3rd year taking lessons with Chris and my son looks forward to every lesson. Our family feels as if we struck gold in finding Chris as a teacher he is so excellent. Chris is obviously a natural talent but seems to posses a 6th sense with understanding how his student learns and adapting their learning style to understanding how to read the music, understand the roots of piano in learning the jazz and blues and being able to take a song and find a new innovative way to make it their own. \r \r Last year when my son was in the 7th grade, Chris wrote the notes for him to be able to play a contemporary song as part of the 7th grade talent show. Most 12 year olds in middle school would feel intimidated to attempt this in front of their peers and teachers, but with Chris' encouragement and amazing instruction, he was confident and enjoyed participating.\r \r Any child or adult who is lucky enough to learn to play piano with Chris Frangos will have a very rewarding experience.\r \r Thank you Chris for your dedication, professionalism and making the experience of learning to play the piano so much fun!!!! \r \r more

In 2012 I would occasionally bring my granddaughter, who's now ten years old, to her weekly piano lesson with Chris Frangos in Beverly. I would stay to watch and listen to a talented teacher...soft spoken, very kind, considerate, and patient. I would always be amazed at my granddaughter's progress after each lesson and quietly wished I could do the same (a life-long dream of mine to be able to play the piano). Later, when he began arranging current music for her to play, along with a few classical pieces, I was extremely impressed. So much impressed, I must have muttered out loud, ""I want to play like that"". He overheard me and said, ""Why not?"". Then my granddaughter said, ""Nannie, we can play together, it'll be lots of fun"". That was it...That was the beginning of an incredible journey for me. \r \r In September 2013 I started taking lessons and have never missed one (because I love it so!!!)\r Chris teaches me in a way that I feel comfortable, at ease, and very happy with myself and what \r I've learned. There is no intimidation, strictness, unnecessary goals...just GREAT PIANO PLAYING WITH LOTS OF ENTHUSIASM AND FUN. I love practicing and playing for him each week - he makes me feel like I've been doing this for years. I am now playing Billie Joel and Willie Nelson favorites (no kidding). \r \r This has been a truly awesome experience, and I wish this for anyone of any age who has the desire to achieve this goal. Chris is a fantastic player and an excellent teacher, he is one of the few teachers that really knows Jazz and also teaches classical, blues, popular music, and al otherl styles. I don't think you will find anyone in this area that knows all styles and can teach them effectively the way Chris can but I will admit it is Chris's knowledge of Jazz piano that attracted me to his studio in Beverly. I highly reccomend Chris as a teacher and a person. On top of all his talents and teaching ability Chris is a good person and has a passion for music which translates into his effective teaching.. more

Chris Frangos is the best piano teacher I have ever known. He is a fantastic teacher with kids and adults. He is also awesome to listen to. I would love to have him play at a party sometime.\r As a teacher, he is so laid back and flexible. He accommodates the students desires and will teach from the books (reading music) and will also teach improvisation, blues scales, etc. The kids love to bring in iPods with their music and have Chris teach them how to play their favorite songs. He has taught my boys how to ""jazz up"" a classical tune or give a jazz tune more of a rock feel. He really can do anything and the students never get bored. \r My boys are 9 and 13 and they look forward to going to their lesson every week. They started with Chris at 5 and 6 years of age after having 4 years of traditional music lessons. Chris' lessons are far more rewarding and because of Chris I believe my boys will continue playing piano for years to come and will most likely have pianos in their own homes when they are adults. I wish I had the time to take lessons with him! more

Chris has really helped me progress further in my playing. He is a great teacher, and a very amiable guy. Definitely recommend him for any person who wants to learn or still wants to learn. more

For the past 5 1/2 years, Chris has been an incredible teacher for my son, who started as a beginner with Chris when he was 9 years old. Chris has made the piano & music a FUN and always interesting activity. He did this by starting him right away with reading and with jazz improvisation. When my son was ready, Chris started writing out his some of favorite tunes(they are now hard rock) by ear to the level he was reading just to make music lessons more exciting. I have never heard Chris be angry or impatient. Chris is a fabulous piano player, playing all styles of music. My Father routinely brings my son to his lesson just to hear Chris play. Chris has been a part of our lives for a long time and we cannot say enough about his talent as piano player and teacher. We have improved immensely over the years in our playing and also grown in our appreciation for jazz and many other styles of music. The piano is a versatile instrument and can cover numerous genres of music. Studying with Chris has exposed us to the possibilities of playing such an incredible instrument. Chris is awesome! I have 2 children that have been students with Chris for 1 1/2 years. Chris has been an amazingly inspirational teacher to them. First, just watching him play has brought so much admiration from all of us for the talent that Chris possesses. It is so obvious that what Chris has, just comes natural. My children have learned how to improvise songs by recomposing/rearranging. Chris is always patient and full of encouragement and praise. Often, one of my children will want to play a piece Chris is unfamiliar with. Chris will easily listen to a song on cd and write an arrangement to play for homework and practice. My other child who loves to sing as well as play piano, has benefitted greatly from Chris's ability to transpose music so that she can sing while playing. My children have had years of Classical piano as their foundation and have loved the new creativity that comes with Improvising. One very important perk for us is that Chris travels. With our busy schedules, it has been great having Chris come to our home for the lessons. We consider ourselves very lucky to have a great teacher for our children. more

Chris has been the perfect teacher for me, he quickly figured out my learning style, accepted my goals, and has been patiently teaching me the challenging skill of Jazz improvisation in terms that I can undertand and in a way that is fun and rewarding. My experiences with Chris have delivered way more that I ever thought, and I look forward every week to our lessons and to practicing and learning something new. I've been working with Chris for a couple of years now and I've made a lot more progress than I thought I would, and I'm very satisfied.\r \r Chris is also an amazing player, composer, and improviser, one of the best parts of any lesson is Chris demonstrating different interpretations of the piece we're working on, all performed with virtoucity and with an amazing speed of invention. I haven't seen Chris perform in public, but I have to say it must be impressive because watching and hearing him play in our lessons is mind blowing. His natural ability and command of the instrument is obvious at all times and with any genre of music. He regularly writes down new arrangements of tunes that I pick, either by ear, or from charts, reharmonizing them on the fly and then creating voice-leads that are easier for me to learn and perform, sometimes with pieces he's never heard before. I had seen Chris play at a piano bar in Boston and knew that he would be fantastic with my jazz aficionado friends and relatives, so I hired him to play for a company hosted cocktail party attended by over a hundred people, many were client hopefuls. I can tell you that he was a big success. You name the jazz or contemporary standard, and he played it with great skill, passion and professionalism.
