Prices don't match with the food service - What a rip-off! 8/1/2008

My carry out dinner was packed very poorly. By the time I reached home dal container (12 oz. White foam cup) cracked from side ward and food was all over. Pros: Eat less as food is little in quantity Cons: spend more money more

THE BEST FRIES IN THE WORLD 7/18/2005

I haven't been in Chicago for a long while but one place I miss is Chowpatti, a family owned restaurant where you might meet the friendly owner. The atmosphere is clean and peaceful, and the food is delicious. Their fries are the best I've ever had, they are not usual looking fries. They have curries to veggie burgers, and some of the best natural juices I've ever had. You leave feeling healthy and like you did something great for yourself. Going there is like a spiritual experience. Well worth the time and even if your not a vegetarian you will love it. They should open a place out here in San Bernardino, CA we'd love them here too!! One of the best places I've ever ate. Pros: excellent food, healthy, spiritual more

Wide variety at Chowpatti 5/22/2003

I was one only three customers in here on a Friday during lunchhour. I found the ambience tranquill (a good thing for vegetarian restaurants). Also, I was quite impressed by the variety of menu items and choices of vegetarian cuisine (mexican to traditional indian) in addition to the fact that you can get your food precisely seasoned for spicyness in 7 levels ranging from mild to blistering hot. However, I do fault the service for not more fully taking the time to explain the variety of items on the menu. (The restauraunt was hardly busy that day!) Also prices were somewhat steep for the amount of food you receive. Overall, plenty to choose from but needing improvement in the service department. This could be THE reason the place is emptly for lunch. Pros: wide variety of food, 7 levels of spiciness, clean appearance Cons: mediocre service, portions small, pricey for vegetarian more

Great even for non-vegetarians! 9/6/2002

Even though we are not vegetarians, we tried this restaurant - and we'll be back. What great food - and so much variety. The service is friendly and personable. Pros: Quality of food, Variety, Service more

vegetarian in the suburbs 8/25/2002

A regular customer since 1985. Family owned and operated. Warm and friendly staff and atmosphere. A menu to satisfy a tremendous variety of tastes. The best Indian Nachos ever. Other personal favorites : Choole Chana, Pav Baji, Veggie burger, Veggie dog, Bhel Puri, Mango shake, Fries. Menu with tons of details, definitions, and explanations for anyone unfamiliar with vegetarian and/or Indian cuisine. Very vegan friendly. Food custom made to order, including a wide range of spicyness levels (not just the usual mild/medium/hot choices). It's suburban location is a fantastic alternative to traipsing into the city. Ample free convenient parking. The best place to introduce non-vegetarians to high quality great- tasting fresh and full of variety vegetarian restaurant. Pros: huge menu, friendly family owned, suburban location Cons: pricy more
