Decadently Delicious Desserts!!! 8/17/2009

We ordered a ton of different things, they had a special for the night, a chocolate hazelnut mousse pie with carmelized banannas,...that was divine! Pros: Best Chocolate Tasting Everything! Cons: Forget about being on a diet! more

Best desert place ever! 9/10/2007

I cannot even begin to describe the amazing deserts at this place. Its small, very cozy, and the staff is extremely friendly! Deserts are to die for - their chocolate layered cake!! OMG - i could probably eat that every day!! If you love chocolate - this place will surpass any expectations you have! Pros: Everything! Cons: sometimes a long wait on the weekends more

Beyond excellent 7/8/2007

I called the Chocolate Room on a Friday and asked if there was any way they could provide 140 boxes of chocolate wedding favors--for the next day. The owner, John, didn't even hesitate, but promptly agreed and with less than 24 hours notice, produced 140 beautifully wrapped white and silver wedding favor boxes. I was so impressed with that level of customer service and my guests were so delighted with the delicious chocolates. Many of them claimed that it was the best chocolate they had ever tasted and I'd have to agree. Amazing customer service and a high quality product has made me a very loyal customer. Thank you John, Naomi and the Chocolate Room staff for adding that extra special touch to my wedding! more

Delish! 6/28/2007

I almost don't want to share the secret since this place gets so crowded! the service is always friendly, the desserts are homemade, top notch and creative and the atmosphere is fun. I could have the brownie sundae three meals a day. Pros: chocolate, ice cream Cons: crowded on weekends but worth the wait! more

Worst ""High End"" Chocolate I've Tasted, Ever 2/12/2007

I didn't try the cakes or brownies, but I did buy their chocolate truffles. For how much money they cost ($40+/lb.), I couldn't believe how terrible they tasted! The closest thing I could think to compare these truffles to were Halloween or Easter candy that you can find at any drugstore. Their caramel bon bon tasted like a Cadbury Creme Egg. Don't waste your money on any of the chocolates here. You're better off taking that same amount of money to a place like Jacques Torres. Pros: Nice atmosphere, very helpful/friendly staff Cons: Terrible chocolates... cakes might be good, though. more

Great chocolate brownie sundae, a little crowded 1/25/2007

Their chocolate brownie sundae is to die for. It is so good that I had cravings for it weeks after I had it. This is saying a lot since I'm not a huge fan of desserts in general. I had the brownie with vanilla ice cream. The night that I went, they ran out of chocolate cake, but their cupcakes use the same recipe. I tried the cupcakes also, but it was nothing compared to the sundae. It is by far the best dessert i've ever had. A little expensive at about $7.50, but it's something you have to try. Nice place to bring a date after dinner. Pros: great chocolate brownie sundae Cons: a little crowded, and expensive more

Brownie Sundae!!! 1/12/2007

The place is not big, but it is comfortable. Service is friendly. Their brownie sundae is amazing. I love it with either vanilla ice cream or the chocolate sorbet. Their chocolate cake is very good as well but it is overrated. Overall, I strongly recommend the place, but there is usually a long wait if you go late at night. Pros: the brownie sundae and the chocolate sorbet is the best Cons: hard to find parkings at night more

REEEEEEEEEEALLY good chocolate cake 7/15/2006

Their famous chocolate cake is quite close to absolute perfection. The texture is phenomenally smooth and the cake is so moist and honestly, everything a chocolate cake was meant to be. The frosting melts in to the cake in between the layers, and oh man, it is just divine. Absolutely worth trying, especially if you're in the area. Pros: Chocolate cake is ridiculously good more

Extremely great service 6/13/2006

Possibly the best chocolate cake ever and service that goes above and beyond. They took the time to help my wife with a recipe and even sold her some of the baking chocolate they use at a cost...makes you want to come back again and again.. Pros: service, food more

Good thing it's a long walk... 3/24/2006

Or I wouldn't fit into any of my clothes. They have a special tart that changes regularly and I keep going back to try the latest. I love their cake, which they now do as cup cakes. Honestly i can't think of anything that isn't wonderful. The food, the feel, the people! I'd move in if they'd let me. Pros: The Owners, CHOCOLATE!, Wine Pairings Cons: Gaining Weight more

chocolate lover's delight 1/25/2006

Fabulous truffles- I love that they are named after women. I love the ""patricia"" - the dark chocolate cone with the spicy chili aftertaste! My favorite night out consists of 3 stops on the coolest block along 5th avenue: dinner at Peperoncino, dessert at the Chocolate Room, and a night cap at Total Wine Bar. Try it ! Pros: great truffles Cons: loss of self-control more

Wonderful brownies and chocolate cupcakes 1/19/2006

Like another poster, I really have to fight my urge to not go to The Chocolate Room each day it is open, because I adore their brownies (a great combination of a light texture with a deep and rich chocolate flavor), their cupcakes, and their milkshakes. The service is always nice (although I've always taken things to go), and it's pretty low-key despite being an obvious hit. If you're a chocoholic, I really think you won't be disappointed. Pros: Delicious baked goods, good service Cons: A bit expensive more

This is Chocolate Mecca 1/18/2006

This place is unbelievable! I bring every out of town guest here...it's that good. I have had the dark chocolate cupcake, chocolate milkshake and more. Everything is delicious. I can't stop thinking about this place and trying to come up with an excuse to go again. Pros: Desserts, Atmosphere more

If you love chocolate, this is the place! 1/10/2006

The reviews here speak for themselves. (except the one that likes Hershey's-are they kidding???) The husband/wife tema that run the place are two of the nicest people you will encounter and they seem to have found help that is almost as nice as themselves. As for the chocolates; they are wonderful. Their Chocolatier - Fritz Knipschildt - makes the most delicious and original treats around, they are as beautiful as they are delicious. The deserts made on premesis by Naomi are equally wonderful. We love to sit at the bar in back and watch as she prepares them. She is always happy to tell you all about everything. We love them so much, I've ordered my Birthday cake from them! Pros: No place like it, exquisite treats, friendly people Cons: Fattening more

yummm..... 1/9/2006

go for the truffles. they're the 1st thing you see in the case as you enter, cleverly all named after women. they are divine. there's one in particular, tangerine inside and chili glitter on the outside. i can't begin to describe the sweet mixed with heat. and there's a wonderful wine - a ""lightly carbonated"" white that i can't remember the name of that was amazing as well. Pros: chocolate!, staff more

Chocolate that melts in your mouth! 10/5/2005

This place simply has some of the best desserts in town. I had a frozen hot chocolate there that nearly caused a brain meltdown. The staff is incredibly friendly, the wine list is extensive with dessert wines, and the atmosphere is laid back. I particularly reccommend the peanut butter cups! Great for after dinner, or even instead of dinner. The desserts are made on the premises - amazingly delicious! Pros: chocolate, desserts, staff more

A daily battle with Self.... 9/25/2005

Each day is simply a fight for me to avoid going in the Chocolate Room. Why? Because I lack self-control, and they're unbelievable sweets tempt me each and everytime. I challenge anyone to go there and try...just TRY to buy one item, it can't be done. My personal favorite....the dark chocolate cupcake, or a ""chocolate soda"". Tempt thyself and be FOREWARNED....this place will capture the chocolate lover in you, and will not let go! :-) I think I'll go get a cupcake now. Pros: staff, atmosphere, the chocolate more
