Chip & Crack Windshield Repair

I had a stone put a quarter-sized chip&crack in my front windshield while visiting family. I wanted to get it fixed right away before driving on the highway, and risking it would grow. John came out to fix it, and I thought it would last. I drove home - 3hrs away - and when I went to the store 2 days later, noticed the windshield-crack had grown to 21"" long.
