I found Chinsegut 8 years ago and fell in love with all the activities they had to offer. Kristen Wood, biologist-ranger who runs Chinsegut is the educator who brings in experts in Florida Nature. As a homeschool-scout-4H family, we found this place to be invaluable. There are so many memorable events. One is the Reptile Expo where you learn about turtles, snakes, and amphibians. Prizes may include a corn snake. Displays and demonstrations are awesome. Pioneer day is a historical nature experience with palm frond weaving and lye soap making. It's all about cracker days of Florida and the pioneers. Welcome back songbirds is another favorite with misting for birds and bird banding. Educators can get continuing education credits. Parking is ample usually. It's in the Withlacoochee Forest in Brooksville, FL. Here is the website http://myfwc.com/chinsegut/
