Food: The food was good, like said above it was good not great. The portions look large, however they are full of the equivalent of packing peanuts, hardly even edible IMHO. It added nothing to the dish and merely took up space in the to go box. Next, they don't have delivery (fine) BUT WHAT IS UP WITH THIS NO CREDIT CARD NONSENSE! What year is it that they don't accept a credit card? Forcing me to run to an atm with a $1.50 service charge. I know what your thinking, this cheap ass is bitching over a whole dollar fifty? NO it's the principle of the matter. I felt like a fool. I will not be returning due to the long wait, no credit card nonsense, and small portions (if you did a food to cost ratio this place is literally twice as expensive as the menu prices because of the small portions). Pro: they had someone who spoke english well to deal with the customers up front. Call be a bigot, I couldn't care less I just have to balls to say what everyone else is thinking. I honestly feel scammed after eating here, and will not recommend to friends. more

not horrible, not amazing! 1/26/2007

I checked out China Gourmet sheerly because of the reviews on it here. Some observations i found to be quite true, others not as much. The food is indeed hot and fresh, the price is high for a no-service restaurant and the lines are long. Tucked away in it shopping center, I am not surprised that some consider it to be a coveted find. I only got the standard sesame chicken, which is good (eating it right now), however it is apparently prepared very differently from other Chinese restaurants I enjoy. My main conclusion is that it isn't very cheap ($10 for a single entree), but it is a quality meal. The portion sizes are large enough that it makes up for most of my price gripe. In all honesty, its not bad, but I don't believe I'll be going back. I suppose if you take yourself to be a lover of American-Chinese cuisine, I'd recommend at least trying it. more

Order from the blue menu 9/1/2003

This is definitely the best Chinese food in Boulder, and very similar to the award-winning Spice China menu. It is pricey for the no-service format, but worth it. Just be sure to order from the blue menu (it has Chinese, but also English). The regular menu is cooked to American tastes. Pros: authentic, tasty, convenient Cons: spare, crowded more

The best Chinese place in Boulder 8/26/2003

If you are looking for authentic and tasty chinese food go to the CHina Gourmet. It's small, and a little out of the way in north boulder, but it's healty and never greasy and it's made fresh. it doesn't have the feel that it's been sitting there all day like so many other chinese restaurants. They make the best hot and sour soup i've ever had. Go there monday thru Friday for the best value for lunch. Pros: Delicious, inexpensive Cons: small more

Everytime I go there, it is packed, the service is good, and the food is hot and fresh. Their wonton soup is very consistent, their sesame chicken heavenly!! Pros: Inexpensive, Tasty Cons: lines long more
