Great spot for a party 3/25/2010

I recently had my rehearsal dinner for 60 guests at Chin Chin in Brentwood. They have a fantastic indoor/outdoor patio that we were going to use to host our event. Unfortunately, it rained A LOT the evening of our event and the roll-away roof has gaps between panels. The manager of that location and the event coordinator were able to accomodate, and blocked off part of the interior of the restaurant for us. While the layout of the space wasn't ideal at first glance, they were able to move some tables around to make our party feel more intimate. The food and service were great... Next party, we hope to have the patio on a non-rainy evening. Pros: Food, Patio, Service, Price Cons: Inside layout, Patio Cover more

Chin Chin 12/9/2008

This place is kind of like pick up sticks, but better and more pricey. Over all, the food is pretty good and affordable more

Great Chinese Chicken Salad 2/19/2008

Great Chinese Chicken Salad. Get the best value ""dim sum and then sum"". I used to go to the original location on Sunset but stopped going since they changed the layout and menu. I hoped this location's Chicken held up to the original taste and reciped and it does. Good food. more

Shrimp Toast 11/17/2007

Went on a sunday afternoon...delicious shrimp toast and dumplings. I preferred the appetizers more than the entrees. I would drive down from LB just for the toast and dumplings. YUM! more

GROSS! 10/19/2007

I've never been to the actual restaurant, we just had delivery and it was disgusting. We had the honey glazed spicy shrimp and there was an inch of uncooked batter on the outside of the shrimp. The food quality is terrible! Price does not match the quality of the food. I would rate it lower than chinese fast food. It was GROSS! The Beef/Broccoli was undercooked as well. Thinking about it now makes me naucious. Pros: They deliver Cons: FOOD QUALITY IS TERRIBLE, not worth the money more

The best affordable Chinese restaurant. 6/22/2007

Chin Chin is combination of authentic Chinese food and ?American Style? service. Pros: Good food and large patio. Cons: It gets busy at night. more

Cool lunch spot, neat patio 11/15/2006

I really like their dim sum and chinese chicken salad, but what sets this Chin Chin's apart from the Marina Del Rey location is the view. There's a valet that's 90 minutes free with validation. The patio is nice but I felt a bit pressured to be dressed up; odd considering it's a chain restaurant. more

Great Chinese Chicken Salad and Szechuan Dumplings! 11/14/2006

OK...so this is not authentic Chinese fare...but it'll do in a pinch! The Chinese Chicken salad is very good as are the Szechuan Dumplings. If you like spicy noodles, try the Anthony's Noodles...very tasty! The ribs are good too and if you dine in, make sure you get the iced green tea! General Tso's Chicken is also a usual order. My coworkers like the Almond Chicken and the Steamed Buns filled with BBQ pork. It's a good spot if you really must have Chinese food...otherwise, make the trip east to Monterey Park, Alhambra or San Gabriel for some real Chinese food! Pros: Good when you must really have Chinese Food and service is good Cons: Not the most authentic Chinese food, pricey more

Rude wait staff. Aweful management! 8/27/2006

Chin Chin offers tasty Chinese cuisine, HOWEVER awful customer service. The waiters at the restaurant on Sunset in West Hollywood act as though they are doing their customer a favor by waiting on them. I ordered the Pad Thai. The flavor was great, however the meal was mostly comprised of rice noodles. I asked the waiter if it was possible to get some additional chicken. He informed me that I would have to pay extra and refused to do anything else about it. I spoke with the manager about the issue and he was extremely rude as well. You see, I guess he was rather busy attempting to fix a problem with their dishwasher and could care less about taking care of his clientele. I kindly informed him that I would not be returning to Chin Chin. Pros: Flavor Cons: Service, Expensive for what you get more

Good for a quick, rather greasy, meal 7/2/2006

I love Chinese food, but hate spending an arm and a leg for a spring roll. Chin Chin has great prices (especially the Dim Sum and Then Sum menu). The food is decent for inexpensive chinese, but I have to admit the vegetables are better than their meat entrees. Service was fast and friendly (although our waiter didn't seem to speak much English). A good place for a quick Chinese meal, with friends or family members, but don't expect anything fantastic. Pros: Good value, quick service Cons: A little greasy more

STAY AWAY! 5/23/2006

This place was awful. Granted the pot stickers were good. Other than that, the chicken and beef in our entrées was the lowest quality one was horribly undercooked. And in another, as noted in a review below, the shrimp portion of an entrée consisted only of the tail portion of the shrimp.!!! Unbelievable. The waiter reported the place was under new management, and the cooks were still learning. STAY AWAY! more

Great lunch spot 4/2/2006

A friend that lives in the area took us to Chin Chin for lunch while we were visiting him in LA. The food was pretty tasty and the portions were generous. I did have some trouble eating because I was too shocked that Jessica Simpson was eating in a booth near us! All in all, I thought it was a great little place for a quick, fun, lunch! more

Middle of the Road Restaurant 10/22/2005

Before going I searched citysearch and epinions about this restaurant. People were really split. Half the people hated it and half loved it. Didn't know what to expect. Well it felt like a POOR MAN'S PF CHANGS. There certainly were no models there as other people claim. It was full of children and old geezers. Food was good and plentiful, but service was dismal. Good for quick eats when wait is too long at other better chinese food eateries. Pros: healthy chinese, easy parking, large portions Cons: bad service, not spicey, too bright more

sucks! 7/12/2005

One of the worse chinese food i've ever had! Definitely over priced for bad tasting food. Doesn't deserve to be on the ""Best Of"" list! more

chin chin's dim sum sucks 5/29/2005

The dim sum selection is VERY limited and is EXPENSIVE. They do not serve dim sum in the carts and you have to order. I waited for at least 15 minutes for 3 dim sum orders. The Potsticker was allright. The Spinach dumpling was NOT what I had in a real Chinese restaurant at all and it didn't teast good. The har gao was BAD that I did not eat it. I will never go back there again. Pros: parking Cons: bad food more

Suprisingly good 3/8/2005

I came here expecting the typical Americanized versions of Chinese food but was suprised to find some genuine dishes. The beef and tomato over rice was delicious as are all the stir fry vegetable dishes. Great place for takeout too. more

Chin Chin is a Steal! 2/24/2005

This place is unbelievable! I recently stumbled into Chin Chin in Brentwood after many years out of town. I couldn't believe the upscale look at dinnner. Cloth napkins, candlelit tables, a heated patio. I thought, boy the prices must have gone way up. Guess what they didn't. The food was delicious. Service presented by two authentically Asian staff members was knowledgeable and very friendly. The management seemed available and very professional. The ambience was contemporary and warm and the clientele was on this night, very attractive. I spent $35. for two and took food home. Parking $1. This night was a steal! Pros: Food, service, price Cons: traffic more

Great Place 4/21/2004

Chin Chin is one of the BEST Asian flare restaurants I've been to. Being away from LA now, I often find myself craving there famous chinese chicken salad, and chicken potstickers!!!I would recommend this place fully!!! Pros: Inexpensive, Fun Atmosphere more

Worth the trip 3/23/2004

When in doubt, Chin Chin is a great place to go. The portions are large enough to share, and they have enough options to satisfy anyone. They will cook most dishes without any oil, and can please the pickiest eaters without batting an eye. There is underground parking, and you don't need a reservation unless you have a large party. Pros: parking, lite options, friendly staff more

just rice noodles 10/31/2003

I called in an order for pick up, and the wait staff was very helpful. I decided on the Singapore noodle for my lunch. The Singapore noodle is made up of rice noodles, shrimp, red bell peppers, and bbq pork in curry sauce. When I arrived at the restaurant, I was greeted nicely, however the person who told me the cost was rude. As I started to eat my lunch, I noticed that there was a lot of rice noodle but very little pork and less shrimp. They must have cut two shrimp in 1/3. It was awful! I wouldn't recommend this meal! Plus the meal was expensive! Pros: good parking Cons: expensive, rude more
