Chin Chin

When I moved to Atlanta, several months ago, I read online and in print reviews about how great the food at Chin Chin was. I was amazed to find out first hand, just how spectacularly undelicious the food really is -- at least the food at this restaurant on Peachtree. From the dumplings that seem like they had just been defrosted from a freeze dried state, to the tasteless seasame noodles and the insipid sauces, none of which taste like they were made from scratch, rather poured from a can fresh off the shelf of Costco. Since Chin Chin is only about 1/2 a mile from my house, I have had the displeasure of trying the food on multiple occaisions (friends and family have brought by pick up orders - not at my behest) and each time it has been consistently unpalatable. more

I went to Chin Chin's with my wife. She ordered a fried tofu dish that came out without fired tofu, but rather soft tofu. We asked that it be remade. We were told that we "ordered" wrong by the manager. I have never been treated this way in a restaurant. Perhaps the rudest restaurant workers I have met. DO NOT GO HERE. It will ruin your night. more

Do NOT go to this restaurant! The management were so completely rude to my husband and i that we will never go there again. the food is barely mediocre, extremely salty and otherwise tasteless. But to top it off, we were treated so rudely that by the time we got our food, we were no longer able to eat it. seriously, do NOT go here, save your peace of mind. don't let them ruin your night too. more

Great service, quick service, not quite enough chicken in the sesame though. The egg rolls are great and the portions are filling. Just need more chicken! more

Every item that came to the table was well-presented and tasty, but I couldn't get over the odd smell of the place. Maybe they had a backed up sink or something?? It was difficult to get used to but once I did I enjoyed my meal. The service was gracious and attentive. Pros: Tasty food, prompt service Cons: Weird stench in the air more

I had been to the Chin Chin in Smyrna on Spring Road many times and enjoyed the great food. The staff had also always been very prompt and courteous, until one time. I did dine-in service late one night with two other friends, about 30 minutes before they were going to close. I received my food promptly and it tasted great. Suddenly the manager of the restaurant comes by our table to let us know that they were closing and that we needed to pay our bill and leave - with 10 minutes left until their official closing time!!! On top of this, we weren't the only ones left in the restaurant as there were about 10-12 other patrons in the restaurant at various tables. We were all forced to pack up our food in to-go boxes and pay our bills and leave. I've never heard of a restaurant forcing patrons to leave without finishing their meals, especially since we arrived well before their closing time. It was extremely rude and almost surreal. I understand if they want us to pay our bill so that they can close out their registers, but to box up our food and ask us to leave was ridiculous. I'll never go back to a place that treats its customers so rudely. more

The food is great my only suggestion is never do delivery if you don't have enough money to tip. One of their drivers attacked me for his tip, and honestly I am one of those people who are always tipping. But this day I was at work and after placing the order I noticed that there wasn't enough for a tip. Hind sight 20-20 I should have called back and cancelled the order. The delivery guy was rude and very aggressive. I paid the guy and his reply was where is the tip. I explained to him that I am a babysitter and unfortunately I didn't have anymore. He became very aggressive and scared the little boy I was watching. I called the manager to inform her of her employees behavior and her reply was ""well they don't get much, that is really all they have"". So is that really any reason for them to be aggressive if and when you don't have a tip to give. I honestly thought tipping was a privilage and not a right. But they sure proved me wrong. I don't think I will ever order delivery from them ever again. more

Their delivery menu is one of the longest I've seen. Normally when I try a new chinese place, I'm either happy with the entrees but not so much with the rice, or I love the rice but the entrees have a bit to be desired. Chin Chin was excellent on both counts. If you like fried rice, try the Shrimp or House Fried Rice. Their honey glazed pork ribs are a great appetizer as well. Overall a terrible experience. The manager smiles only if you pay a good tip. The waiter give you nervous looks if you stay long, indicating you should leave so other customers can use your table. One of the worst dining experiences you can imagine. Do not go by their rating or exterior. This is from the past. Last 12 months the Peachtree St location in Buckhead location has lost customers due to several complaints about rude service and unhealthy conditions in their kitchen. Avoid if you can. We found a hair in the lo mein vegetables. This is a crazy place. You can watch their dirty kitchen as they prepare their dishes. My girlfriend lost her appetite and we decided not to go to this dirty place again. We complained to the manager and he rudely talked back to us even guests next to us could see thelong hair. We always get our takeout from here or from the one on Howell Mill and its always great. We also sometimes dine in. The food is fabulous. I am writing this because the few negative reviews are so contrary to my experince. There is a reason why Chin Chin was voted Best Chinese Food in Atlanta: it is, hands down, the BEST Chinese cuisine I have ever sampled. World Class food for a fair price, Chin Chin is the perfect place to have an off-site company meeting or for a relaxing evening with a friend. A+ more

It was the worst service that I have ever experienced. We spent a total of $60.00 for 2 adults and one kid. There were not any smile or thankyou. They seemed to be too busy to serve their customers right. Food is ok, but I shall pass. more

The food at this establishment is very good. However, I have found the staff here rude on two occasions. Most recently, the cashier, who I believe is one of the owners, shook her head when I did not leave a tip on the credit card slip on a ""to go"" order for one dish. I am patronizing her restaurant, and she is rude because I did not leave a tip before my order even came out? Again, the food is good however. more

I hate to complain about places but I was not happy with the sesame chicken I ordered from Chin Chin. It was very chewy and stringy like eating rope or netting. I was very disappointed that half of the chicken was inedible. I hope they raise their standard on food quality soon. Pros: Convenient more

Forget PF Changs - a joke that folks would rate that higher - ridiculous! Chin Chin has fresher ingredients, better sauces, better service, lower prices. Anyone that rates PF Changs higher either has never tried a variety of Chinese restaurants or is an idiot! Food was scrumptious, especially impressive since I had it as take out to eat my hotel room. The lettuce wrap (beef style) was light and flavorful. I also ordered the pan fried noodles with vegetable lightly spiced. Unfortunately server ordered them as EXTRA spicy, nearly unedible due to ""heat"". Something I am sure would have been corrected had I remained in restaurant. I will be happy to try them again next time I am in town. more

No Chinese restaurant compares to Chin Chin. The tastes were extraordinary. I love Asian food, but this resataurant is a study in doing everthing exceptionaly well. This is cooking at a different level than any Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. High quality ingrediants were evident. Perfectly done shrimp, chicken, and vegetables showed the skill of the chefs. This restaurant is worth a trip. Highly recommended and a tremendous value. Pros: Fresh food, Service, Skill of Chefs more
