Children's Orchard

I was very disappointed when using Children's Orchard for resale as well as new purchases. I brought easily $300 worth of clothing in the store. I COMPLETELY understand I will never gain the same value out- that's not my rant. They took just about everything all for a whopping $40. That hurt. I took it though, as I was moving and needed to be rid of the things. What really got me was that I made it a point to keep outfits together. To be sold or kept TOGETHER!! When I went through the bags to see what was not taken by them, I was really upset to see they had taken tops or pants from various outfits, but not the whole thing. This keeps me from being able to use them again or give them to friends or family in the future because they made it all so random. I wish I'd gone to Once Upon a Child. more

I have been in this store several times and I have always been treated so very nice and I have recieved the best customer service! The clothing they have is a bit more expensive however they also carry the higher end children's clothing brands. Today my Mother, my son and myself were shopping and I am just shocked at how I was treated. I went to the register with my items that I wanted to purchase and the lady behind the counter was on the phone discussing requirements of buying clothes from customers. She saw that I was standing there because she told my Mom and I that the rack of clothes that we were looking at were not for sale that they were for the "Brand Sale"! It was not what she said, but how she said it. She didn't mind telling us that we could not buy those clothes but she could not tell the person on the other end that she would need to call them back because she had a customer that she needed to help. I find the staff extrememly helpful. The prices are better than most shops in the area. Store is cluttered but its worth it. more

I was there earlier today and found super cute clothes for my littlest one. As always, they were helpful & friendly while I looked and when I noticed a stained garment on the floor they removed it to mark it as play clothes. more

I have read the 2 negative reviews and am amazed. I have been shopping at the children's orchard for a few years now and have only pleasant experiences. The staff is helpful and knowledgable. The owner is normally very nice and cordial. I have sold many things to the store and get a very fair price for them. She has even taken the time to go through why she didn't take a certain item. more

Customers have 10 days to return resale clothing and 3 days to return other items. A polite phone call is accepted if an extra day is needed for our customers. Most resale stores offer no return policy. All asked is to comply with the guidelines.\r Children's Orchard offers two levels of clothing, regular items, and "playwear". Playwear may be a little over 5 years old, or have a small spot on an inconspicuous place. Prices reflect this, both in purchasing from customers, and their selling price. Sellers must take this into consideration when estimating their price per item. We offer playwear to save some very wearable clothing from being excluded due to our stringent quality guidelines. Other resale stores would simply pass on them, it seems. more

Children's Orchard buying guidelines are on our website, and are explained as appointments are made. 50% (less $0. 50) of our selling price IS offered for items we sell for $12.99 or higher. We also offer two levels of clothing, and pay accordingly: regular items, and ""playwear"", which sells for about half the regular price, and is purchased for about half the regular purchase price. To be playwear, all items must be of popular/higher end brands,and may simply be over 5 years old. Others may have a small flaw in an area besides the front, or have a bit more washwear than we would allow in our regular clothes. more

I decided to sell some boys clothes to the Children's Orchard store. I felt like the amount I was offered to purchase the clothes was far too little, but it was my own fault for leaving the store without questioning the owner.\r \r The pricing system was not fully explained to me and I was under the impression that I would receive 50% of the selling price which I was fine with. The items the store purchased were in really good condition and I ended up getting less than $1.00 per item. I sold 17 pieces and walked away with less than $11.00 in cash (I was offered just under $14 in store credit). That's ridiculous considering a few items had the tags still on them and the button-down collared shirts were really nice. \r \r I did call the owner later and explained that I wasn't very happy but realized all sales were final. She was nice but I still felt like I had been taken advantage of in a major way. more

Ugh - this is hands down the worst consignment store around for both customer service and shady quality of merchandise. For a store that purports to be more of an upscale resale, they don't stand behind their merchandise. I purchased a Gymboree shirt that had a hole in it and the extremely rude woman behind the register who claimed to be the owner's mother refused to take it back (I had both tags and a receipt). I also purchased a cd that did not work from them. The prices are not great, just comparable with other stores in the area, where you will much friendlier service and frankly less problems with the merchandise. Buyer at your own risk... I wouldn't tell anyone to shop here, there are many more avenues for your money, including the always interesting Kid to Kid in both Cary and Apex. Pros: ? You will have to take your time looking through the clothes racks and all of the toys that are above head on shelves in this small consignment shop. They offer a large selection of gently used clothes, shoes, toys, furniture, strollers, highchairs, etc. And surprisingly the prices are not too high like many other resale shops of this nature. Childrens clothes range in sizes from newborn to older kids sizes 14-16. This store also accepts your items which after careful inspection you are either given cash or store credit. This process takes a few days while other stores offer this while you wait. more

I picked up some cute things for my daughter here, and also managed to find something that I made a profit off of by selling on ebay. I just wish the store was bigger. Prices were better than another Cary consignment shop. more

I discovered Children's Orchard when I was pregnant with my first child more than 6 years ago. They carry great pre-owned children's clothing and equipment. They keep their standards high on what they sell and somehow keep their prices much lower than another popular resale shop that is in Cary. Go to Children's Orchard first! more
