Go Sox 6/24/2006

How do you review a baseball team. Well they won the Championship last year, that's a good place to start. They are an exciting and dynamic team with alot of personality. I like their coach Ozzie. They stadium- US Cellular Field is huge, state of the art and offers more foods and drinks than any sports stadium I have ever been to. It's like a mall within the stadium for eating and shopping for momentos. more

Baseball Heaven 4/26/2006

The stadium rises out of the buildings that compse the south side of the city like a tropical island surrounded by blue. It is here that great baseball is played. It is here that you live and die by the greatest team to play the game and it is here that you can have the greatest family baseball experience in Chicago. The White Sox play at U.S. Cellular field on the south side of the city. It is, without question, the best place in the city to see a game played, four out-distancing the cramped and crumbling headquarters of the National League team slowly rotting on the north side of town. True, and be warned, you will want to take public transportation to The Cell or leave very early. Of all the years the Illinois Department of Transportation could pick to launch a massive reconstruction project of the Dan Ryan Expressway they had to pick the year after the Sox won the World Series and will defend the title. Still, once you get there you will find plenty of parking. The parking is clean and fenced and not too far from the stadium. If you take public transportation the El stop is also nice and close. The stadium is roomy and the seats are comfortable. There is hardly a bad seat in the house and when you are sitting in the lower level you can still see the game because of the open concourse. The selection of food is second-to-none. Gyros, churros, hot dogs, Polish sausage, ice cream, chicken sandwiches, Dippin' Dots, etc. That is just a short list of what you can find to eat there. The Jumbo-tron is huge and the screen clear. The sound system is fantastic which is all important so you can hear and see the opening music and video montage guaranteed to raise the hair on your arms. Clips of great moments in White Sox history flash across the screen as the music builds to a goose-bump raising pitch an intensity. Then, just as the montage ends the opening guitar straings from AC/DCs "Thunderstruck" plays as the starting lineup is introduced. If the kids get restless there is the Fundamentals section in left field. If you pay a little extra you can have the club seats and get your own personal wait-person to deliver the food directly to your seat and order from a menu. Then of course, you also have the game the way it is supposed to be played going on in front of you. The Sox are true pros and look to make another run deep into the post-season again this year. You can't go wrong at U.S. Cellular and with a trip to see the White Sox play. more

A disillusioned Cubs fan loves this place! 3/17/2006

Yes, the Cubbies have let me down. Bowing down to corporate greed and an endless stream of fair weather fans have caused me to become a tad bit disillusioned. And now that the Sox are the biggest thing in baseball, I feel sorry for their loyal fans. It looks like they are going to go the way of the Cubs and disappoint some of their true blue die hard fans down the road. Sad. Regardless, this ballpark is wonderful. Many people here still care about the game of baseball. The stadium holds so many cool promotional events throughout the season (you gotta love Elvis night!) and the fans and stadium employees have always been kind and respectful. It's right off the Red Line which is so convenient. more

More affordable than the north side 9/27/2005

US Cellular Field (gag, Comiskey Park) is a nice, comfortable stadium in which to watch a baseball game. There's plenty of leg room and spacious walkways to get in and out of the stadium. There are plenty of things to entertain the little ones during the game, including clinics, batting cages, etc. Parking is affordable and easy to access. Tickets are reasonably priced. more

Choke job 9/23/2005

We've seen this before, can anyone say '69? The crosstown Cubs have been through this and know how this story ends. I'm not a fan of the White Sox, nor of their cookie cutter stadium in a shady neighborhood, but after eighty plus years of losing they deserve a chance. If you're a Sox fan, go out and cheer for your team. Shame on you for not going to the games. They may be tanking, but now is the time they really need you. more
