Editorial review from Citysearch 9/16/2013

I recently completed the Wisconsin Ironman race on September 8th 2013. The journey to this event started several years ago when I made the commitment to sign up and train for my first marathon in Chicago in 2009. Halfway into that season I had an Achilles flare up that I was certain would prevent me from being able to complete this event. A friend of mine referred me to Dr. Krebs at Chicago Spine and Sport. He not only treated the tendonitis so that I could continue to train, but he also worked with me to do functional training to prevent the injury from coming back. I’m passionate about being an athlete and participate in numerous races each year so am constantly pushing my body which can lead to overuse injuries at times.\r \r At various points I have tried the other modalities such as Physical Therapy and Orthopedic Doctors but have found that Dr. Krebs’ focus on functional strength and educating me as an athlete to be the best approach for me. It provides me with the knowledge to prevent injuries from occurring, how to treat them, or more importantly, recognize the signs and take steps to interrupt them from developing. His continued research and education on advances in therapy and treatment keep me educated and help me advance my performance as an athlete. As a mostly self-trained athlete it is critical to have this external feedback and a medical practitioner to rely on. I view Dr. Krebs as a core part of a team of people I rely on that allows me to train and race at the level I do at 49.\r \r Being an athlete himself he understands the psychological aspects of injury. When I am feeling defeated or discouraged by a setback when an injury occurs his confident and honest assessment helps me to put it into context of the bigger picture. The established trust that has developed in working with him over the years to rapidly treat the symptoms, along with the exercises to address the imbalance or weakness that led to it, keep me focused and motivated while I am recovering.\r \r When making a choice about my healthcare I make decisions based on the results and effectiveness as well as the philosophy of the treatment. With Dr. Krebs it is not a one size fits all approach. It is [w]holistic. It is about getting you well as fast as possible; no lengthy drawn out treatment process or wasted time. This is critical when training at my level and holding down a full time job.\r \r I wanted to write and thank Dr. Krebs for getting me to the finish line. This was a goal that I had been working toward for the past three years and I was able to complete my first Ironman healthy, strong and injury free; there is no better way to complete a race. more

New patient 12/6/2007

I was recently in an accident where a truck hauling a trailer with 65 canoes rear ended me without much of a stop. I was sore instantly, but figured it would go away quickly. By Monday, something had to be done! A friend referred me to Dr. Krebs, and I can't thank him enough. Having never been to a chiropractor before this, I didn't know what to expect and was a little scared at having my back ""cracked"". I mentioned this to Dr. Krebs, and he quickly put me at ease. After explaining what happened and assessing my back, he gave me a thorough medical explanation of what was wrong and how it needed to be corrected. After he completed his adjustments, he showed me some very simple excercises to do at home to help with the healing process. I woke up the next day feeling 100% better. I would highly recommend Dr. Krebs to anyone, and he is so great, I will be bringing my mom in for his expertise!!! Pros: Easy scheduling and none to little wait time more

Chiropratic knows his game 10/23/2007

I've been using Advantage health & Wellness on and off over the past 3 years to help with various sports and weight lifting injuries, and have healed quickly by the due care I received. Dr. Krebs listens to you carefully as you describe what pain you're in and/or how you injured yourself and quickly is able to diagnose the problem and makes you feel better after the first visit. The scheduling is very flexible and if you can't get in to see Dr. krebs, he shares offices with Dr. Donahue, who I feel very confortable with as well, and operates very similiarly to Dr. krebs, so either doctor can hep you out. Pros: service, knowledge, flexible schedule more

Quick Results, Great Service 8/15/2007

I've been to chiropractors before and you usually feel like cattle being herded around until you finally get ""popped"" and kicked out the door. Dr. Krebs actually spent the time needed to understand my condition and had the knowledge to truly fix my problem. He did this in just a few visits and now I feel great and he gave me to tools on how to control it myself. He is a great doctor and has a great office. I can't say enough about how grateful I am and how lucky I was to find him. Pros: Not Rushed, Smart Doc, Great Results more

a great chiropractor- much appreciated 2/22/2007

Due to frequent heavy lifting and the physically demanding nature of my job, I've injured my back in the past by doing things incorrectly. \r Through monthly visits with Dr. Krebs and the daily excercise ""homework"", I'm now in better condition to handle whatever my job throws at me. \r I've done construction for 8 years and have seen 3 other chiropractors, 2 in town, but these are by far the best results I've had. I no longer have to miss work, request ""light duty"" assignments, or use pain pills.\r Probably the greatest benefit of his style of treatment is that he has taught me how to maintain myself in order to avoid injury- and it has worked. Pros: scheduling is easy, flexible, convenient, knowledgeable doctor with integrity, gets results Cons: parking can be tricky at certain times of day- easier after 6pm (open till 7) more

Thank you!!! 2/1/2007

I finally found someone who identified and cure my problem. I was having knee and low back pain for all of last triathlon season. No one seemed to be able to help me. I tried several other chiropractors and massage therapists. None of which helped me at all. Then i was referred to Dr. Krebs by my Family Doctor. Dr. Krebs took the time to explain what was going on with me and he let me know that what my options were. I choose to start treatment with him and his staff and i have never felt better. Thank you!! Pros: Very Friendly and Helpful Staff. Cons: i can't use my pain as an excuse anymore more

Fantastic chiropractor 1/31/2007

Dr Krebs has worked miracles on my back. My basketball career would have ended years ago without his help. He is very flexible when it comes to scheduling - if your back hurts he will find time to get you in. He will identify your problem quicky and offer exercises to help correct it. His beautiful receptionist is very friendly, always remembers your name, and is helpful when the doctor is busy with other patients. The location makes office visits easy - plenty of parking on Diversey and close to the L. Pros: Location, always on schedule more

Thank you Dr. Krebs 11/18/2004

Dr. Krebs took the time to educate me about the source of my pain, and ways to prevent it. It was nice to work with a Dr. who did not make me feel rushed, or like a number. Not to mention, his location is outstanidng! Very convenient. more

Thank you! 11/11/2004

Dr Krebs spent quality time with me during my visits to ensure he found the root of my problem. I've been having chronic pain from carrying my laptop on my right shoulder - daily. With his help - the pain is gone. I continue to go for treatment to prevent further issues. He is caring and patient and has often stayed late so I can make it in after work. I highly reccomend his services. Pros: Late Hours, Quality Care, Good Results more
