I lived in France for a number of years, and took my Parisian friend to Chez Nous for dinner. We were looking forward to having a good dinner, but we were very disappointed. My onglet à l'échalotte tasted and looked nothing like any we had seen in France, the bread was very disappointing, the wine was over-priced, and the service was weak. The Frenchmen working there seemed to believe that the by acting as aloof as Americans believe the French to be, that this would add to the atmosphere. It just made the experience even more disappointing.
Pros: good cornichons, excellent charcuterie
Cons: diffident service, too pricey, uncomfortable
