I went to Chevy's yesterday (December 29, 2010) and was sitting in the main entrance of the restaurant very upset. The time was 7:41pm and I have yet to be seated. At 7:11pm I placed to reserve a table for 6 and it took the hostess 19mins and 22secs to take my call. She wasn't really paying attention and she wanted to hang up after only getting the number of people in my party. I asked her if she wanted my name before hanging up and she said ""oh, sure"". By that time I was already walking into the restaurant and walked around to see how ""busy"" it really was.
There was no one in the main entrance and a quite a few tables unoccupied. I requested to speak to the manager and when I informed him of my experience all he said was ""ok"". My boyfriend then asked him if the hold time was usual and he said ""No it is not"". There was no apology or explanation and we were left in main entrance to wait for the rest of our party to arrive. At 7:48pm the rest of our party arrived and four other guests had been helped before us.
When I greeted my guest and began to tell them how the experience was thus far the greeter interrupted me exclaiming ""that was you on the phone?!"" in front of other guests! I said ""yes, I was on hold for 19mins and 22sec!"" She then proceeded to roll her eyes and say the location was busy. How rude!
I have been to other restaurants were they will at least seat us while we wait and offer some kind of apology for our experience thus far. Terrible experience and if it weren't for us driving for 30mins we would have left.
Our dinner experience was not much better. We had to track down our waitress a few times for chips and salsa and refill on drinks. Also, my boyfriend had to wait approximately 23mins to get his drink AND the server rolled his eyes when we pointed out two of the three plates were to be shared. We told the waitress while ordering so we were expecting the plate to be split in two. When we got extra plates one was dirty.
We will NOT be returning to dine at Chevys I've worked in retail and a company depends on its client base. For every unsatisfied customer they will inform 10 others of their experience, for every satisfied customer they only inform 3. Hopefully other people have a better experience then the one my family and I had.
