Take me home, Chef's Spaghetti Parm 4/24/2011

In all my travels, this is the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to --- from the service to the consistent quality of food, it never disappoints. Favorites are the fresh bread, stuffed pepper appetizer, spaghetti parm (you will never forget this dish) and the cassata cake -- It is just fantastic! more

A good standby... 2/2/2011

The food is good but not great. I've been there many times and they are consistent. more

You either love it or hate it 1/25/2011

It seems like people either love Chef's or hate it, there is no in between. Although it is not authentic Italian, I think the food at Chef's tastes great. I love the sauce (it is much better than the sauce Chef's sells in jars). The eggplant parm is my favorite. It is very casual, and they just recently put a bar in the restaurant. I recommend making a reservation, because it is always busy. My only complaint about Chef's is for what you are getting, the food is overpriced. more

My Favorite Restaurant by a mile 3/23/2007

Chef's is special to me, it's about the atmosphere and memories and great food. Their food is unique, which is what I love. They don't cater to a huge spread of palates like chains like Olive Garden do, but any true food lover knows that the smaller, unique, and family-operated restaurants far supersede all else. I live in Arizona and I can't wait until I'm back in Buffalo to eat here again. People who appreciate good dining know Chef's is good. There's just no comparison in WNY. Chef's remains to be one of the busiest dining establishments in the area, and regardless what a few online critiques might say (see above), there is a reason for that. In fact good food is not the only thing that WNY has plenty of, there are also lots of naysayers (hence i now live in AZ). Check it out if you are interested in a new experience, but don't bother holding up a table from other people if you really would rather eat at an Olive Garden or are fussy... Pros: Friendly Service, Good food Cons: Busy (always reserve), The food is better when not packed (try off times/nights) more

What's the Hype? 9/11/2006

I have always heard wonderful things about Chef's so we tried it and they must be doing soemthing right because it took a while to get in the place as it was so very crowded. However I don't understand why...Everything is a la carte and not very good for the overly high prices. I haven't gone back. Pros: parking across the street Cons: prices, food could be better more

Not exactly Italian 2/11/2006

After so many rave reviews and recommendations (including being voted best Italian in buffalo) a friend and myself decided to go to chef's. What a disappointment. This restaurant should more clearly label itself Italian American, none of the dishes are authentic or imaginative, as aforementioned the sauce is nothing special and comparable to ragu or prego, the pasta is garbage, and desserts were the only palateable items on the menu. If your idea of Italian is Macaroni and cheese then this is the place for you. If you know and have savored authentic italian cuisine this restaurant is nothing but a huge culinary disappointment. Pros: Price Cons: Food more

OVERHYPED!@! YUCK! 7/29/2005

The spaghetti was way overcooked, the sauce was worse than some store bought brands. more

Yuck. 7/3/2005

How people think this is good Italian food, I don't know. Coming from an Italian, people who are enjoying this food obviously grew up eating Prego out of the jar. Quite possible the worst restaurant in Buffalo. more

stilll the best inspite of all the cry babies 5/18/2005

ALL cry babies need to make their own sauce from ragu and prego Pros: still the best Cons: the public lacks cons more

Chefs is the best 7/21/2003

Chefs is hands down the best Italion Resteraunt in Buffalo. Pros: Best Italion Food, Great Service, Decent atmosphere Cons: Need Reservations, Crowded more

The Best 5/13/2003

Chefs is the best Italian food I have had in Buffalo. I have had a number of recommendations of good Italian restaurants but Chefs is the only one that has lived up to the reviews. Pros: Service, Food, Value Cons: Busy! more

Ugh! 3/31/2003

Very disappointing considering this restaurant's reputation. The sauce is no better than Ragu's - bland, tasteless. Where are the fresh ingredients? Garlic? Oil? Oregano? Pros: Light on the wallet Cons: Tasteless cuisine more

gimme a break 8/29/2002

This place is still over rated, when a group of us went there one Sat. afternoon before going on the Miss Niagara cruise, none of us weempressed. I make better spaghetti then they do using Prego spaghetti sauce. And if I can do that, it doesn't say much for Chef's, does it? Pros: its italian Cons: location, so so food more

No frills - good food! 8/8/2002

For great, no-frills, Italian food, Chef's can't be beat. Great sauce, hefty portion sizes, good price. The spaghetti parm is an institution, but go for a small! Pros: good parking, friendly servers, good food Cons: walk-ins are hard more
