Best

Chef's Expressions catered our wedding last summer, and people are still talking about the food at our wedding. Not only was it delicious, it was unique and beautifully presented...

I was so surprised by the negative comments from a few years ago about Chefs Expressions that I was prompted to join this site and post. We have been to lterally dozens of events catered by Jerry and his staff over the past 12-15 years, including my own wedding 5 years ago. They have included private parties, charity events, and their Wine Dinners at Gramercy. Not only have we never been dissapointed, we have never experienced anything short of great food and great service. They are the best. more

swindlers with bad food 11/11/2011

I found a pube in my food at a wedding they had catered. Need I say more? I will... Not only that, but the food just looked sloppily prepared and not very fresh. My friend was extremely disappointed that she chose this company to cater her wedding. For the price she payed, she could have gone with a more professional company. more

Horrible customer service 6/30/2008

This company has THE WORST customer service I have ever experienced. After providing recipes, making specific food requests, and after offering time and time again to bring in food samples, Chef's Expression served the guests of a wedding I attended in Baltimore raw food, undercooked food, and overcooked food all on one buffet table. I'm just thankful none of our guests got sick! We were told that recipes were followed, yet there were potatoes in a dish in which no potatoes were ever mentioned in the provided recipe. Chicken was cooked to taste like rubber and apparently soaking chickpeas over night to soften them is something only ""home cooks"" do...not world renowned chefs. When I REPEATEDLY offered to bring in samples of the food we were asking to be on our menu we were discouraged. The event coordinator and head chef kept saying it was not necessary and that everything would be perfect. \r \r When these issues were brought to the vice president and president of Chef's Expressions we were told that our concerns were ""petty"" and that ""We do have a signed contract that states you will pay a stated amount for certain services. Nowhere does it say that these foods have to meet personal preferences."" \r \r Isn't the purpose of hiring a caterer to do an event to get good, FULLY COOKED food that meets your personal preferences? The fact that this company's president prides itself on its lack of commitment to the satisfactions of its customer should throw a huge red flag up to anyone thinking of using them for their next event. \r \r I encourage you to use them if presentation matters more to you than the food,if you like having YOUR requests for YOUR event ignored, and if you enjoy being called names when you bring concerns about your event to their Owner. \r \r Tsk tsk Chef's Expression...tsk tsk. Pros: presentation Cons: customer service; food more

Comments for Bride Above 6/28/2008

Chef's Expressions strives to be the very best caterer in the region. On a rare occasion we miss the mark and we obviously did in the eyes of this client. We welcome feedback so that we may improve ourselves and be better able to serve future clients. We welcome those that are reading this review to visit the Wedding Wire website to view more comments from our bridal clients in order to get a better view of our company and the service we provide. more

Stay away!!! 6/27/2008

I do not recommend them. They will say and do anything to get your money and once they have a signed contract, they ignore your wishes. The buffet dinner for my wedding did not have all the items we requested or had incorrect items. They even made changes to our menu without bothering to inform us! Moreover, the food was either undercooked or overcooked. My aunts said afterwards that they should have cooked the food themselves - that's how bad it was. They don't pay attention to details and their customer service is lacking. When I called to complain, the VP said I was being petty and the head chef became defensive (I should have known better than to expect a French-trained chef to know how to make any other cuisine). They make promises in the beginning (""you will get to taste the entire menu,"" ""it will be exactly how you want it,"" ""everything will be perfect,"" etc.) and then don't deliver. Stay away! *** Notice the flippant remarks to my post - this is the level of customer service you can expect. And the omission of the primary complaints - undercooked potatoes, dry overcooked chicken, incorrect bread hard as cardboard. If you can't cook chickpeas according to specific recipe directions, might as well use canned (unless you like eating food the consistency of pebbles). Of course, if the recipes had actually been read, simple mistakes would have been avoided. But wait, they said they've made this ethnic cuisine several times. Yeah, okay. They're not interested in the facts - if their staff thinks everything was fine, then your comments are belittled. Nevermind the dozens of people who would testify to my complaints, under oath if necessary. Making false claims - that's called false advertising. And making substitutions to a contract without a simple check with the client - breach of contract. A bad experience might be rare, but do you really want to risk that for your wedding? more

BEST WEDDING FOOD, EVER!! 7/10/2007

Chef's Expressions catered our wedding last summer, and people are still talking about the food at our wedding. Not only was it delicious, it was unique and beautifully presented. We had some dietary constraints (kosher family, so we needed some kosher meals and only fish and dairy) and they made it so easy to work with them. There is no question that we would use them again and again for any future events. Pros: Easy to work with, Creative, Delicious Food, Beautiful Presentation more
