Here's my experience using John's sewer and drain service: We had a huge leak in the basement last weekend and wasnt sure what caused it. My brother said to call up a place that cleans sewers and drains. I called John and and told him about the leak and he said over the phone it would cost about $195. I agreed over the phone to pay this price to unclogg our drain/sewer. He told me he would get there in about an hour, 20 mins later he shows up (this was on a Sunday). After an hour working with my brother he was able to unclog the drain and the leak was fixed. He was professional, respectful and worked diligently to get the problem fixed. He also gave us a $20 discount after finding out my brother served in Iraq as part of the Marine Corp. So before you read all these horrible reviews please understand the source of them. I spoke to John afterwards about these reviews and he said he found out that a competing business was responsible for some of these reviews. Sep 15, 2010 by User- 201 I made the call at midnight with a flooded bsmt. and guests (in the basmt of course). By 2:30 am the work was completed. the tech was so friendly and courteous. He explained everything he did and why it was needed. I could never be that cheerful at 2 am! And they didnt charge extra for the late night house call. Highly recommended? local favorite more

Beware of using the cheap plumbing sewer services... If u see $49.95 or anything cheaper.. of course it's not that cheap! I called many drain cleaners and finally settled for Cheap John's Sewer to come and repair my clogged kitchen sink line. Their staff was very professional and highly recommend to go with them! more

Had a weird experience. Guy showed up two hours after we called (good) to clear our clogged bathtub but was not from the normal Cheap John's staff. Said he was a ""friend"" of the company. Tried to charge us $350 - which we said was ludicrous - and eventually paid half that. He was sloppy and made a huge mess (which he did not clean up); however, when the clog we had been experiencing was fixed, and then problems occurred three floors down he agreed to go down and fix their tub, included it in the price. He was loud and messy and a little weird, but our drains are clear, which is the point, I guess. I would advise when you call to ask if you're getting one of the normal staff or a friend - and also to really get some kind of estimate. Our drains are clear, but you can likely find better. more

I called about a clogged drain and they were there in less than an hour. They had my drain unclogged in minutes. The whole experience lasted less that an hour and a half. Very happy. more

I can't begin to say how grateful I am that a local contractor recommended Cheap John as the best person to call for a sewer line that kept backing up into the basement. This guy isn't just a plumber who also does sewers and drains (which are the type places I had been calling), he is truly a specialist in this area. Since he water jetted the sewer line there has not been a single backup of water in the basement. This had been an ongoing problem for years until I found this company. I was very happy with the service and his prices were very reasonable. You can feel very confident calling him for a sewer and drain problem, I think he did a great job. AAA+ more

Excellent service and very honest. Another plumber had come the day before to snake the sewer line of debris that was affecting drainage after a large storm. We were told it was ""absolutely"" a broken sewer pipe and it would be a minimum of $6,000. to excavate and replace a 20 foot section of pipe, no other option was offered. I called Cheap John's for a second opinion and based on John's assessment he recommended the Water Jetting process to better clear the pipes of blockages, followed by a more effective snaking of the remaining roots. It worked like a charm, the pipes were never broken as I'd been originally told, no excavation was necessary, and Cheap John's cost was a fraction of what the original plumber quoted. If ever you have a sewer problem, call John. He is truly a specialist and he is not out to rip people off. I would recommend him without hesitation. And if anyone says your pipes are broken, unless it is visibly apparent to you, call John for an assessment. more
