An Experience That Could Not Have Been Better? 3/25/2010

From our first visit, to the days following the event, we could not have been treated better or had a better experience. The group at Charter Yachts made us feel that we owned a private yacht and they were our crew. Really made us feel like family. Beautiful ship, great food, and friendly crew...Thank you!!! \r Pros: Family owned, they REALLY cared about my event. more

Thank You!!!! 10/23/2009

Just got back from our honeymoon, and wanted to thank you for making Stan's and I wedding so incredible. We have heard nothing but positive things from all of our guests. So glad Stan talked me out of the other yacht company in the harbor, because I couldn't imagine anyone's company being more professional as yours. Food was great, service was great, and the yacht was great!! Thank you? Pros: Very professional and great staff Cons: so many yacht companies, make sure you get the right one more

Response to previous comments made by EMILY S. 10/23/2009

After learning of the comments posted by ""EMILY S."", we at Charter Yachts of Newport Beach were extremely upset by the false claims that were written about our company, as well as the lack of respect one would have for another persons wedding. Having personal comments and critiques about another persons wedding is fine, however, in the event the bride and groom do not share the same feelings and thoughts as you, such as in this case, those critiques and comments are best kept to oneself, so that it does not take away from that bride and grooms joyous wedding day. In this particular instance, the accusations about our product and services were completely false and feel that the copied letter, posted below, written by the brides father will substantiate the truth........ Lee, Thank you for sending me the information. The review written is indeed shocking and unjustified. I have no idea who may have sent it and can only believe they must have had some misguided agenda to go to all the effort they did. In no way does it reflect the feeling of any of the guests that I spoke to, as a matter of fact quite the opposite. Everyone I associated with seemed to enjoy the experience and was very pleased with the events of the evening including the bride and groom. As father of the bride and having paid for your services, as long as the bride and groom were happy, that is all that matters to me. I'm sorry that something like this has to surface after such a great day for the newly married couple and can only be viewed as a blemish on what was considered a near perfect day. I hope this issue can be resolved quickly and transparent to the new bride and her husband. Best Regards, Craig Willoughby Pros: Always takes responsibilty for the event Cons: but don't appreciate when guests reviews aren't truthful more

Surprisingly bad experience aboard "" The Icon "" yacht 10/21/2009

I was one of a large wedding party excited to experience this joyous family moment on a romantic yacht in Newport Beach. We were in for a big surprise! \r \r Gathered together on the dock, we were greeted by the lead crew member intent on ruining the festive atmosphere with offensive, threatening instructions. Without any warning, he launched into this horrible lengthy diatribe about the many ways we would ruin their boat. He went on and on about how tampons will clog up the septic tank, and how yachts weren't meant for children so if any of them became too excited or rowdy they would immediately turn back and drop them off, and how everyone must spit their gum out IMMEDIATELY or face penalties, etc. Yes, we all realize that there are certain rules to follow on board, but there are DEFINITELY less rude ways to communicate to your customers and guests. And please refrain from waxing on about tampons! A strategically-placed sign posted in the bathroom will suffice. \r \r Once boarded, it was nice to see that the boat was clean. However, anyone taller than 6 foot 3 was in danger of bumping their head, and anyone with sensitive lungs was in for a 3-hour nightmare. The toxic fumes of fuel/exhaust filled up all space and wouldn't clear out, despite the open air. It was suffocatingly hot and there were no fans or AC, so everyone became soaked in their clothing even though it was less than 70 degrees out on the water. Women with ruined makeup and people with sweat stains were everywhere. \r \r Now about the food and service. Unbelievable. The bartenders and buffet servers were fine; however, the servers who tended the tables were extremely brusque, rude, and callous. They served a bland, cheap Caesar salad, vegetables that tasted pre-grilled and microwaved, cheap-tasting bread, and a chicken alfredo-type dish with sauce like from a can. The buffet servers seemed trained to put just a few small chunks of chicken onto each plate, with no seconds or special requests. The servers would watch your table like a hawk and then storm over to grab your utensils when they thought you were done to discourage second helpings. ( I bent over to put something in my purse, and a server roughly leaned on me to take away my food and silverware even before I was done eating. I could not believe it! ) \r \r Then, when they served the cake, they brought out small slices stacked on top of each other, with the bottoms of each plate physically touching the food. It was disgusting to see, so I did not eat the cake. My friend had a bite and said it was ok, but my brother didn't like it. So I can't review the cake, but to me it did not look fresh or appetizing. The buttercream looked like shortening, not real buttercream, and the decoration was boring & uninspiring. I really wish that I could say more positive things about this experience, since it was supposed to be such a wonderful day, but I owe it to people to give an honest review.\r \r If I were offered another chance to board the Icon of Charter Yachts of Newport Beach for free, I would politely decline. I don't even think you could pay me to do it. Pros: Clean boat, nice bartenders Cons: Rude & offensive customer service, especially for a wedding more

Charter Yachts of Newport Beach was great!!! 9/19/2008

My husband planned a surprise birthday party for me aboard the ICON in October, 2005. It was an incredible experience! The yacht is beautiful, the staff very professional, the food delicious, and the day was the most wonderful memory I can imagine. It was absolutely perfect!\r \r Of course, I had no idea this party was even being planned, but my husband later told me that the company owners were extremely helpful, nice, and courteous. Three years later he still talks about how nice they were to him!\r \r FIVE STARS!!! I highly recommend this wonderful company! Pros: Gorgeous yacht, fantastic food, great staff, helpful owners! Cons: NONE! more

Can Wedding Facilities Really Be This Bad? 10/24/2007

Married on the ICON yacht earlier this summer. The person that owns the boat almost got into a fight with some of the guests prior to the wedding and refused to apologize for his actions the next day. The professionalism was incredibly bad and made the most important day in our lives one that we would rather forget.\r \r There are other yachts in the area, or in other areas around the LA area. I recommend that you skip this one based on our experiences. If not, you are really taking a chance.\r \r Cons: Very Unprofessional more
