Yes, it is expensive. Yes, you have to pay upfront. However, when your pet is extremely sick/injured after typical vet hours, it is reassuring that there is a place where you can receive top notch services. My dog began coughing up blood around midnight, and, after rushing him to the er vet, it was determined that he needed surgery to remove a foreign body obstruction in his small intestines. He would likely not have survived until his vet opened in the morning. I was well informed of my dog's progress throughout his entire stay and was even able to go visit him while he recovered. The doctors were upfront about the charges--I had to sign an estimate before they began any treatment. Additionally, I was informed when the costs were nearing the upper end of the estimate. (However, we did not surpass the original estimate in the end.) I interacted with 4 vets from the clinic and numerous techs--all of whom provided quality care and information.
