I lived down the street from Charlie's for most of my life, and, even though I'ved moved away, I still go back -- regularly -- read WEEKLY -- for their super great pizza.\r \r Even my tween daughter, who eats almost NOTHING, eats -- I mean EATS -- Carlie's Pizza.\r \r My mom lived down the street from the shop first in our family -- I strongly suspect that when I was a kindergardener, she had my family move in (or back in) to the neighborhood just for this pizza.\r \r Now that she and I live outside of Philly, she is the one that regularly tells me -- demands from me -- that it's time for Charlie's.\r \r You have simply got to try this stuff -- you will not be sorry that you did. more

Still the best 4/15/2010

The Best Pizza I Ever Tasted 1/4/2009

I have been eating at Charlie's for 37 years! My family continues the tradition of eating at Charlie's every chance we get. Although my family now lives over 100 miles away, we go out of our way to eat at Charlie's if we are even remotely close to the area when traveling. You will not find a better pizza anywhere in the city of Philadelphia. 5/29/2007

My family has been a customer of Charlie's since the 1960's. I was raised on their tomato pies. The taste is unmatched. The only problem is waiting a few minutes for it to cool off when reaching the table. The smell is so enticing it's worth the pain of a burnt mouth to enjoy their product. They are very friendly when picking up your pie and they know most of their customers by name. I am proud to be one of the faithful. Pros: Quiet surrounding for an enjoyable snack or meal. Cons: They don't deliver. And they allow children. more

Me being a Charlie's employee you would think i'm sick of pizza working there and eating it all the time but it is delicious....handmade dough everyday......fresh cut cheese everyday......it doesnt get any fresher or better then charlie's.....its by far the best pizza in philadelphia more

Best Pizza in Philly 5/17/2006

By far the best pizza in Philly, not your typical/terrible thick, chewy stuff. You will find similar pizza in Italy. A no frills place where people travel from miles around to get to. The neighborhood is deteriorating, but Charlies brings us back there. I am a 3rd generation Charlies eater and now take my 2 year old son the way my grandfather took my dad and he took me. Sicillian+xtra cheese a Philly contender! 6/23/2005

We loved Charlie's! The regular pizza is a thin crust; it comes with cheese on top, or sauce on top. As a rule I do not like thin crust, but this has perfect and original homemade sauce, and perfect cheese. The crust is firm enough to eat neat, with no mess, flavor very good. Unfortunately the thin crust leaves you still hungry. The Sicillian is more of everything. We ordered with extra cheese too! It can be a bit messy, but it's worth it. Ten Stars! Service was fast and friendly. Tables use real free standing chairs, and the eating area is large! Expect to pay about $10 a pie. Is this too much? Ten years ago I could still buy 3 large pies for $10 delivered. Today my corner shop sells 2 for $12. Sadly $10 is too much for my family, except maybe for a very special treat. Charlie's: The Gold Standard for Pizza 5/18/2005

I grew-up in the neighborhood, now live 60 miles away, it's still worth the trip. Distinctive taste, not greasy, definitely different. The taste that comes to my mind when someone says, ""Let's get a pizza"". It's the only pizza I will break-down and eat now that Atkins rules my diet. I love the way they put the cheese on first, then mix in the pizza sauce. The crust is light and thin. It really is a great combination for a great pizza. It is always fresh. When possible, eat the pizza in their dining area. It is best when fresh out of the oven. The Best Pizza In Philly 7/29/2002

This is no nonsense pizza. No slices and no delivery. It's eat in or take out. This is by far the best pizza in Philly. I grew up on this pizza, we had this for dinner every Friday night.
