Have not lived in Philly for 15 years and I'm STILL craving a tomato pie from Charlie's. Best sauce anywhere!!!!

""Great sauce, not enough cheese"" pretty much describes the pizza here. The sauce is probably the best I've ever had in Philly but Charlies does not put enough cheese on the pizz...

THE Best Pizza 11/6/2009

Charlie's has absolutely THE best pizza in Philadelphia or anywhere else. I drive up from Delaware, to buy a few at a time (used to live in Juniata Park many years ago) because I can't get the delicious taste out of my mind. I wish I could give it 6 stars!!! - John more

Charlie's is the best Pizza I have ever had and I am a pizza lover. Their sauce is great. I love it so much sometimes I order with extra sauce(but not if I have a new shirt on) They put the sauce on top of the cheese but they will make it the other way if you ask.. The People are great. it's like eating with family... more

I really like to go to this restaurant on thursday nights and hang out with my friends. We tend to travel in large groups and Charlie's always accomodates us. I love the atmosphere, it is very casual and laid back, and we have a great time. The food is great, not too greasy and the portions are a fair size. My boyfriend and I usually split an entree, so it is a good amount of food. Pizza is great here too, always some leftover to take home after the meal. I recommend this restaurant, they are very clean and welcoming. Makes me hungry just to post about it! more

Same Great Pizza 8/19/2005

My husband insisted that we venture to the "Great Northeast" to Charlie's where he enjoyed pizza as a child. Well, this "hole in the wall" is well worth the trip. No money has been wasted on the decor but, the family has invested in pizza ovens for sure. Comfy for the entire family, pizzas are served up quickly and without much fanfare.... you'll feel the heat, though, when you take your first bite of the sauce on the top pizza that I love so much. Forget the toppings, plain is the way to go. more
