The view , the food, the staff in any order are the best. 11/4/2011

My wife and i try to eat here every few months. The menu is constantly changing yet there is always something that we enjoy. The chef/ owners are always trying new and upbeat ways of preparation at a reasonable price. The views, if you get there during daylight hours , of the Delaware are really pretty. Windows to the ceiling, on three walls , makes for no bad seat in the house. Breakfast on the Delaware is a treat , and the coffee cups are always kept full. Remember to BYOB (for dinner) more

A must try! 10/10/2010

Charcoal BYO is a favorite of ours, we recommend to everyone we know. The atmosphere is friendly and casual; the service is great, you feel like one of the family. The food will blow you away, you won't expect what you find. Breakfasts are consistently good, they always have an interesting special on Saturdays. I crave their lunch sandwiches, from their cornbeef sandwiches to the chicken panini - they are to die for! Dinner though, is what will blow you away. The food is beyond anything else you can find in the area. It is interesting, always testing limits, always enjoyable. I love trying new things, so Charcoal is a staple on our monthly restaurant rotation. Check it out! And don't leave without trying a dessert special! more

Most flavorful steak I have ever had? at a byob? 6/14/2010

Let me start by saying, the tranquil views of the Delaware river framed out by this bistro are breathtaking. I brought my favorite bottle of wine and I am ready to have an excellent steak. Pros: Extraordinary views of Delaware River, friendly staff Cons: I'll get back to you on that after my next visit. more

Great local place 5/25/2010

It's so nice to have a place like charcoal so close. I have always gone for breakfast & lunch, recently tried dinner for the first time and had all my expectations far surpassed. The cuisine was that of a big city restaurant, but with that small town feel, and of course the scenic view. Our server suggested the skate & filet medallions, They were both amazing, particularly the skate. Make sure to save room for the homemade desserts! we had the meyer lemon & blueberry sorbet with spun sugar, soo good! Pros: cuisine Cons: closes too early more

Good place for breakfast 6/19/2009

Cosy restaurant by the Delaware with a great view of the river. The breakfast food has always been good and plentiful. Staff goes out of their way to make you comfortable. They keep special condiments that the 'regulars' bring in. Pros: Great eggs and pancakes with a view Cons: Not fond of the coffee more

Great place...try it yourself and you will see 12/31/2008

Been there a ton of times in the old building and new; and have no complaints. The 2 negative complaints posted on this site must be from employees from one of the other local restaurants set out to once again sabatoge this local business reputation. more

decent breakfast menu 9/14/2008

cheap and loud music system makes for tacky, stressful diner experience not recommended Pros: creamed beef Cons: terrible parking, loud Jersey-diner-like atmosphere more

I worked there and STILL love to eat there 6/16/2008

All the time I hear from waitresses and waiters that after working at a restaurant for a time they can't eat there because they've eaten and smelled the food too much and are turned off merely at the smell of the restaurant's food. I had the opposite reaction to working at Charcoal Steaks. I got a job there because I loved the food and friendly people so much. Now, two years later, I live an hour away and miss the delicious home-cooked food. If you're looking for a fancy restaurant with tasteless overpriced food, try the Yardley Inn two buildings down. I'll drive the hour to go to Charcoal for a good meal anyday. And you can trust me, I've eaten and smelled their food more than the average customer and I still keep coming back! Pros: delicious food, view of the river, great service Cons: It can get very busy on weekends so you may have to wait, but it's worth it! more

great home style food 6/4/2008

Great consistent food. I enjoy dinning there at least once every few weeks. friendly service and a wonderful view of the river, Love the new look. I recommend the Gorgonzola steak for dinner! Pros: consistently good food & nice atmosphere Cons: sometimes a little wait to be seated more

Top Notch 6/1/2008

Warm and friendly, great view, excellent food, outstanding service. Go there at lease once a week. Dinner specials are unique and creative. Pros: Great food, service and ambience. Cons: No Reservations. more

Not worth the price... 5/20/2008

Charcoal Steaks n Things just reopened recently so I figured I would give this local spot a try. It's a nice comfortable looking place. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The problem is with the food. It's just not up to par. I had ordered a burger (cooked medium). It was quite bland and cooked past medium. There was a stack of sliced deli ham slapped on top...right from the refrigerator. It was still a bit cold when I bit into it. Not the best dining experience I have had in Yardley. Perhaps this was just a singular experience. They have high school or college students in the kitchen cooking. Perhaps that is the problem...regardless, I don't want to make excuses for the food. Pros: Very friendly staff, river view Cons: not much parking, below average food, above average price, closes too early more

not good at all 4/11/2008

Was really disappointed. Went there a couple weeks after it reopened and waited almost 45 minutes for lunch--which ended up being awful--bland, overcooked, soggy rolls, soggy fries--thrown together with zero care. (i had the chicken cheesesteak) Pros: the view Cons: the wait, the food more

Inexpensive dining right on the water! 5/2/2005

Charcoal Steaks 'N Things is one of my family's all time local favorites. With amazing home-cooked food and a great view of the Delaware River, this family-owned restaurant makes you feel as if you really are part of the family. Ask about the homemade cakes!! They are delicious! Pros: Inexpensive, Great food, Family atmosphere more

Grew up in area 7/11/2003

I grew up in Yardley and always went to this restaurant with my family. I will never forget the people who served me and the dining expericance, overall. A++++++ Great steak, breakfast and etc! Thumbs up! I miss this place and the whole area. I always stop by when I am on the road. *sighs* Pros: good service, great food, never crowded Cons: n/a, n/a, n/a more
