Best

The new Cary Char-Grill has both indoor and outdoor seating, so it's great when the weather is less than perfect. Love the flavor!

Worst

Just got take out from the Cary location, Very disappointing. I haven't been to CG since back in the day at the Hillsborough location. Staff seemed like they could care less, BBQ ...

Terrible burgers 12/13/2002

Char Grill is greatly overrated. There burgers are terrible. It is just a typical fast food chain burger. I don't see what's so special. Abbey Road has way better burgers. more

just the best! 12/13/2002

I have been eating here for years. It is always fresh and hot. Even though I don't live here anymore, everytime I am in town I always make time to eat at Char-Grill. more

Char-Grill and Travis 11/6/2002

The food and atmosphere is great. I absolutly love the shakes and fries. Plus you got to see the manager (I think he is) Travis. He works at the Olde Raleigh Village location. Girls, I'm telling ya, he is such a hottie!! Oh god he looks so cute with the paper hat on. Pros: Shakes, fries, Travis the cute guy, Travis more

blast from the past 10/31/2002

The food was ok, I was reminded of the burgers we use to get before food processed meat became the fad. Ordering and service was different, and a little mind boggling on my first visit. Pros: good burgers, casual Cons: crowded, little expensive more

i use to work there 10/28/2002

the place is great. the burgers are first class. fries, well better get them while their because when it is cold, it taste bad. Pros: burgers, price Cons: seating more

costly 10/28/2002

food is on the high side and burgers are only O.K. Pros: handy Cons: slow service, pricey more

yum yum in my tum tum 10/19/2002

i live in the fayetteville area. they use to have a char-grill here. now i have to drive to raleigh when i want one. the folks around here have been brainwashed by mickey d's, burger king, wendys, and hardees, there palates aren't sophisticated enough to enjoy a char-grill burger. that's to bad, it's there loss. Pros: everything, everything, everything Cons: none, none, none more

Severly disappointing 10/17/2002

After all the hype, I was so disappointed in the burgers! My fav food of all time, and this did NOT live up to it's reputation. Go to Hardy's and get their $6 burger. Those are awesome! Pros: Food isn't *bad* Cons: plain burger, inconvenient more

Makes me regret I moved to Durham 10/10/2002

Hands-down, Char-Grill has the BEST burgers in the Triangle. They are cooked over a real flame (you can see it cooked yourself through the glass), and are never greasy or oily. This is real beef, people. And the milkshakes are some of the best around. Even the barbeque sandwich is great, and they aren't even known for that. The only problem I had was that I always went to the one on Hillsborough St., which doesn't have any indoor seating, which sucked. I hate getting food ""to go."" Pros: Hamburgers, Milkshakes, Everything! more

Order and wait 9/18/2002

Burger had good taste but fries were oily and limp.So loud inside that you had difficulty hearing your order called. Cons: noisy, loud, fries limp & soggy more

here is the beef 9/5/2002

Without a doubt, if you like a burger, Char Grill is where it is at. Do not go expecting elegance, fluff, or pizzazz. But, if you want a freshly prepared burger that will leave your pallette watering and your stomach bulging, this is the place Raleigh natives know to go for a real burger! Pros: fresh, friendly, local Cons: seating more

Without a Doubt 8/30/2002

Is it possible to do a better job creating a work of art and calling it lunch? The best grilled burger by far available on the East Coast! Good after a 'hard' night of 'playing' in downtown Raleigh, or worth the drive to feast on a mound of beef and pile of fries during the lunch hour! Don't forget the THICKEST chocolate shake on the East Coast! Pros: tasty, value Cons: comfort, seating more

Used to be good 8/28/2002

Back in the day, Char-grill was the best for burgers, but they moved to a lower-quality beef years back, and I can't stomach it, anymore. Pros: cheap, local Cons: quality more

Cheeseburger in Paradise 8/26/2002

I'll go out of my way to have a burger at Char-Grill! Pros: delicious burgers, crispy fries, Inexpensive Cons: Needs more seating more

Yummers 8/25/2002

Simply. Char-Grill is the place to go for a burger, fries and shake. It evokes the charming nostalgia of the 1950's, further contributing to the wonderful dining experience. Pros: Inexpensive, Great Food more

Happy Days! 8/21/2002

It was like being back in the 50's, except I was not born then. However, the restaurant reminded me of the restaurants seen in the old movies! Great burgers, particularly the Jr. Steak sandwich. I've been eating here since I was five years old. What more can I say? more

Quality is excellent 8/8/2002

Burgers always excellent quality, and cooked right. Fries are very good too. Lack of any indoor seating makes Atlantic Ave. and downtown location undesirable in a lot of different weather conditions. Pros: Food Quality Cons: No indoor seating more

We've found the beef!!!! 8/8/2002

I consider myself the world's greatest hamburger fan. Char-Grill by far has the best burger I have ever had ANYWHERE and believe me, I've had burgers just about everywhere there is to have one. I could literally eat a Jr. Steak every day (if my waistline would permit it). My four year old son prefers Char-Grill over any other also. That's pretty impressive considering most kids are more partial to the red headed clown place. Char-Grill is beefy juicy PERFECTION!!! YUM. YUM. Pros: INEXPENSIVE, ABLE TO CALL IN ORDER, CONVIENTLY LOCATED Cons: NO SEATING/COLD OUT, NO DRIVE THRU more

Beeeeeeffff 8/7/2002

Char Grill is awesome, go there as often as you can more

good 8/6/2002

The burgers and fries are the best. I just love the charcoal taste. more
