Bureaucratic, Too Busy, or Just Clueless 6/15/2009

I think it's time to find a system that actually works for my Multiple Sclerosis. My initial diagnoses with taken seriously but sadly I had already been through that process years before and brought it with me. FINE double check and check on symptoms and their progression But.... I came to UCSF MS Clinic for a comprehensive TREATMENT and they are either not timely or are just not helping. Referrals, appointments, and treatment for symptoms has been slow and sadly lacking. VERY antiquated (1.5 Tesla) MRI equipment has been used to ""Take close looks"" and ""Thin Slices."" Follow-up treatment is very difficult to get and the out-of-hand answers to serious questions are not warranted. The MS Nurse actually told me I should probably find ""LOCAL"" help for a symptom that was being exasturbated by their own prescribed medicine. And LOCAL?? I always considered UCSF my preferred LOCAL Medical Center. Pros: Some very talented Doctors some caring Staff Cons: Rushed, patient history not fully reviewed or relevant more

Paternalistic Ivory Tower 11/26/2006

Big and impersonal. If you have any special needs or requests (ie I don't want X antibiotic because last time it upset me stomach, etc) forget it. I have a rare medical condition, and know a lot about what works for me. Unfortunately, I could not even get the physicians to let me know what medications they were planning on using for my condition. I ended up going elseware. more

Service is horrible 5/11/2006

Service is horrible - I had to wait hours for a ""STAT"" CT Scan and nothing was explained to me. When I finally complained about the wait, I overheard a radiology tech replace my first name with ""disgruntled"" when telling someone who the next patient was. Extremely unprofessional staff. There is also no empowerment of staff to make judgement calls when scheduling procedures - they must get supervisor approval even if case is ""STAT"" from a Doctor. Pros: Technology Cons: Unprofessional, Staff, Service more
