Houston's hidden gem! 8/2/2011

This place is definitely a hidden gem. It's unique ambiance with live music and homey decorations makes it more than just a food experience! and the food, oh the food. The buffet has a huge variety to appease all mouths, from fried shrimp to beef tips to shepard's pie to bbq ribs, to a great selection of a fruits and salads, it's much more than your run of the mill ""golden corrals"". Then comes the good part: the rotisserie. The waiters use the brazilian style and come around to your table and serve you unlimited amounts of all different kinds of meats and sausages (the fried honey pineapple is my favorite!) and it truly is an experience. My family is a big fan of this place so we also go to brunch frequently, and let me tell you, we've been to a lot of brunch places but this is definitely the best we've found!! such a wide selection and amazing taste, from oatmeal/grits to crepes and spanish omelettes, quesadillas, biscuits, chicken fried steak, it's almost unlimited! Check this place out, you won't regret it, and it's truly huge bang for your buck! :)This place is definitely a hidden gem. Worst meal ever and Worst service ever 6/25/2011

At one time this was one of my favorite places. Haven't been in a few years, and decided to treat myself and my family. It had been awhile and my 1st visit post hurricane Ike. My family ordered off the menu. After an hour and 1/2 the meal showed up. Not even a roll for an hour. 30 minutes just to get drinks. When the food arrived it was the wrong order, as well as mine being inedible. I ordered the Lobster and Crab. You could actually smell the spoiled lobster everywhere in the restaurant. Took one bite, spit it out and told the waiter it was inedible. Still got charged..My last time to this place ever. Save your dough. more

Always a Treat 4/17/2009

My family and I always look forward to Chabuca's. We love both the food and the atmosphere. It's really caters more to adults, but children are sure to find something they like also. Live piano music every evening, dimmed lights and great service round out the evening. It is so relaxing and we feel like we should be spending so much more $. No complaints here for sure! The wait staff and owners have always been pleasant. We are not regulars, but go on special occasions. It's really a treat. If you're sick of the same old menus...this is the place to go. Enjoy! Pros: Ambiance, Food, Service more

Great Buffet 3/30/2009

I attended my future son in laws graduation dinner here and we all had a great time. They attended to us in a very professional manner. The food was great. Very clean place, with alot of items to look at. I plan to return with my fiance soon. Pros: Atmosphere, waitstaff, food assortment Cons: long line for buffet more

WITHOUT NEW MANAGEMENT - NEVER AGAIN! 2/12/2009

My husband's 70th birthday was held here. There were 30 people present. It was a horrible experience and we haven't been back since nor will we be. Everything was agreed on and clearly stated; type of cake, meat courses, etc. The cake was not the cake I ordered they did not serve the meats we had agreed on and there was not enough waitstaff so everything was slow, very skimpy portions and very slow service. The owner was rude, unpleasant and his solution to the cake I ordered versus the cake we received was ""well everybody ate it"". Unbelievable the fact that they had no choice flew right over his head. As for the owner I have rarely dealt with a more difficult individual who could have cared less about the quality of anything least of all his customer's satisfaction. The waitstaff we had was great and they were not happy with the owner's behavior either. Again - never again. Pros: Lovely setting Cons: Everything else! more

Great Lunch Spot!! 9/28/2007

I work in the League City area and am always looking for new lunch spots, so when I finally decided to try this place after driving by several times I was pleasantly suprised! The lunch buffet is served unti 4pm , and what a nice spread it is... Pros: HUGE Buffet,Low Prices more

WOrst Breakfast and Customer Service EVER! 6/17/2007

We went to Chabuca's for their Father's Day breakfast buffet. They raised the price another $4.00 from the normal listed price so it was $12.95 per person which is a little high for breakfast. Any way, we get there and the buffet is pretty small. The line is long and you have to wait a long time to get to the food. Once you get there the selection wasn't all that great and things didn't look very fresh. The hasbrowns tasted like old paste and I swear couldn't have even been potatoes. The eggs weren't that great either and the biscuits were hard and dry. Most of the food tasted old or like nothing. The fruit wasn't ripe and the only thing that was really edible was the waffles. Over all I really didn't eat any thing and my husband had as little as possible. Once he finished the first plate he said it wasn't worth the effort to stand in line to get any thing else. We brought my mom and dad as well so we spent $75.00 for 4 people to have breakfast. We could have gone to Denny's for half that and been a lot happier. I took the time to talk to the owner about our experience after we paid for the bill. He was rude and became belligerent. He was acting like we couldn't have possibly not liked the food and we were lying. He started questioning my husband who wasn't even part of the conversation. We will NEVER go back here again for any meal and I would advise any one to save their time and money. Pros: It was close to our home Cons: Just about every thing more

Best Quality buffet 7/11/2006

If you order from the menu it can be pricey - but they have a great buffet for a reasonable price( $8 at lunch or $10 at dinner). The quality on the buffet is better than any other buffet I've ever been to - Always has fish, coconut shrimp, and stuffed crabs or crab cakes - along with several other main dishes (that are not seafood including ribs) that vary plus a variety of salads. And you can easily fill up without ordering the extra meats - but will still have plenty of meat to choose from Pros: great food, kid friendly - will let you bring in other food for kids Cons: if you don't get there early for lunch expect to stand in line more

My Absolute Favorite! 5/15/2006

This place holds a special place in my heart because this is where my fiance proposed to me. It is a high-class, very romantic place with great food, but is not so uppity to where it would make one feel uncomfortable. You can wear whatever you want and bring children as well. We need more places like this in the Clear Lake area instead of having to drive across town for the experience. Pros: ambience, great food more

The very best! 5/14/2006

Chabuca's is worth the drive. The food, the atmosphere, the service all combine to make this one of my favorite restaurants anywhere in the US. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service Cons: AC a little cold, Piano a little loud more

TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT 2/14/2006

When I called to get directions to Chabuca's, the hostess was rude and barely audible. I realized the place was busy. But when I arrived, I knew there were problems with this restaurant: 10 minutes passed with no host, owner or waitstaff in sight. When we finally got our name on the list, we were told it would be half an hour. AN HOUR LATER, after seating five different families, I complained to the owner and the manager. Although the restaurant seemed rather busy, the two of them were chatting, not bothering to assist their under-staffed waiters. I hated this restaurant. The food was okay, but after such a crappy experience up-front, I was fuming. The service absolutely stinks at this place, and the owner clearly could care less. The ambience is better at the Golden Corral, and their food is just not worth putting up with the service. Cons: service sucks, food mediocre, terrible owner more

Romantic Proposal! 6/28/2005

I Proposed to my Love here! on 6-16-2005! Charlie went out of his way to make sure that my suprise proposal went through without a hitch! His really came through for me! The Table was placed in a Great location! The Flowers I requested for the Table were Perfect! The Live Music was Wonderful! The Service was Great! The Food & Steaks were Perfect! Non Better! Charlie and his staff made a very nervious situation very much eazier! By the way, She said YES!!! Charlie.....You have two new customers for life!!! more

awesome place!! 2/8/2005

although the price tag is somewhat hefty ($30/person not including drinks or tip), it was totally worht it! The service was extraordinarily good--they really tried to make you feel welcome. Bring a big appetite as the all you can eat meats will stuff you to the gill. they had a menu for those who did not want to eat so much. they also had a variety of salads, etc. to supplement the protein buffet. the inside of the restaurant was very nicely decored. it was perfect for a romantic date or for casual family dining. there was a musician playing piano upstairs when we arrived, but later a live band showed up and even took requests. we very much enjoyed the evening and will definitly go back--on special occasions. Pros: not too crowded, delicious foods, superb service Cons: pricey more
