I had David appraise and buy my old gold and jewelry. He paid me for the diamond and gemstones as well as the gold. A couple of the places I visited would only buy the gold and wanted to take out the gems and give them back to me. David explained that you lose value by removing the diamonds and gemstones as jewelry is worth more in a finished form that disassembled. One place even wanted to just keep my diamonds and only pay me for the gold! David graded all the diamonds and gems while I watched and explained what he was doing as he went along. All in all I got a much higher price for my jewelry from David. David was also pleasant and friendly whereas the other places were often rude and abrupt with me. This guy has the equipment and knowledge to get the job done right! He quickly weeded though hundreds of items and separated everything out in sections explaining along the way what everything was. He used all kinds of electronic gadgets to test things and proved to us that what he said was right. He brought out books and reference articles to help us understand the values. He also told us what we could throw away and what was actually valuable which was a very big help because we had just inherited the jewelry and didn?t know anything about it. I went to David to sell an old diamond and ruby bracelet this week I had inherited from my aunt, and had a great experience I thought I would share. I was referred to David by a friend who had sold him some of their jewelry. When I met David he was cordial and relaxed. I showed him my bracelet and explained that I had inherited it and didn?t know what it was really worth but that I had been offered $3500 recently for it. David carefully examined it quietly for a few minutes and then looked up at me and asked me if I knew it was an old Tiffany?s piece from the 1920?s. I said no, and that no one had ever mentioned it. Not the other place I had taken it to or my aunt, and that there was no box or paperwork that came with it. David showed me the bracelet under his microscope where it was marked Tiffany & Co. He then showed me an article from a recent Sotheby?s auction where a similar item had sold. David proceeded to tell me that he would pay me $27,000 for it which was about what the similar item sold for at the auction. David didn?t have to tell me about the similar bracelet that had been sold at the auction, he knew what I had been offered before. He could have just offered me $4,000 and I would have taken his offer without looking back. David didn?t take advantage of me when he clearly could have. This is a man who really lives up to his reputation. I would without hesitation, in fact I would urge anyone looking to sell their jewelry to take it to David Boggess.
