My son who is 17 and two of his friends, both of whom are 18 went to see an R rated movie. As my son did not have his ID, they would not let him in. I happened to be close by, so they called me. I walked over to the theater and told the manager that I was his mother and that he was 17. She told me that 17 and under had to be accompanied by an adult. When I told her that it was only under 17 and not 17 and under, I was told I was wrong. Then I said that since the two friends he was with were both 18, he was ok. I was then told that I had to accompany him in. He needed to be accompanied by a parent. Has anyone else ever heard this rule? Anyway, they refused to let him in, so he and his friends had to pick another movie to see. I think that this is ridiculous and managers of cinemas should know the rating system, how it works, and not just make up arbitrary rules.
