Central Park Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center

My father was admitted to Central Park Nursing and Rehab just a few days ago. One of his brothers and his wife are visiting right now and found that my father had defecated all over himself because the staff told him he needs to go to the bathroom by himself, which he can't do due to severe pain and high dosages of pain meds. He is extremely embarrassed. He also has an open wound on his backside, which he had prior to being admitted, but that the staff was aware of, that is causing him much discomfort due to the obvious current condition.\r They told him they would dress the wound but had not as of this morning.\r THIS IS NOT OKAY. I WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS! more

This is not a great sign! My stepfather was transferred yesterday from another hospital that made many mistakes in his care. Another family member picked this location and I will be there today to see for myself if it is at least ""standard"" care. As I am still holding while I typed this, Saturday at 10:10am EST June 25, 2011, I pray this is just a fluke in administrations phone service. I will return to this location and update what I find! Just trying to get out of the facility is a nightmare. After being promised for a month they would handle all paperwork, they tried to kicj Mom out 'with cause'. We got help with the Ombudsman but it was if they were trying to mess up our atempts to fine anothe facility. I was horrible how they treat elderly people. One thing, the staff directly dealing with the patient is fine. Just the administration. They probably kick their dog too. more

My mother had occasion to be sent to Central Park for therapy after a hospital admission. When the therapy time was over, we requested she stay there for Long Term Care. Initially, everything was roses - Your mom can stay, NO Problem! Next, Mr. Mann said she can't stay, we don't have a medicaid/medicare bed available, only private insurance. A blatant lie - all their beds are medicaid/medicare certified. If they have ANY bed, they have to accept. When caught in the lie, it was a misunderstanding, of course we'd love to have her! (again, Mr. Mann). \r They promised to complete all the necessary paperwork for her to remain. We told them just to let us know what they needed to transfer her to LTC. Instead of calling, they delayed long enough, thinking that they could 'discharge her with cause' because she hadn't paid. They can't do that without 30 days written notice which must be signed by the patient or their legal representative. This didn't happen.\r LIES, LIES, LIES AND MISREPRESENTATION. more

Today is 8/25/2008. Within a month, I plan to come back to this site and post my letter about this place. For now, I have to beg you, please don't take a loved one to this facility! We had a terrible experience and know of others that have also had a bad experience with this place. I will be posting my information about Central Park Rehab on every internet site I can find. Please find another place, or better yet, make arrangements at home for the care of your loved one. Cons: Watch for my letter to come soon. more
