Worst

Based on the good reviews, I tried it. Not warmly greeted. No showers or other space. Won't go back. Also list treatments they don't currently have. Weird.

Great (new) place 6/17/2010

I just read calteg's review! Yikes. I just got waxed there and it was great! They moved to a new location (they are on street level now no longer over the gym) and I think they are really nice. It felt really good to be in there, the place was very relaxing and everybody was very professional, friendly and calm. I would like to try to the acupuncture, so I will check back when I do! Pros: Great "energy" Cons: Nothing more

HORRIBLE BRAZILLIAN BIKINI WAX!! Beware! 10/20/2008

I had my Brazilian bikini wax done here and I was left bleeding, and I had chunks of skin missing! It took almost 2 1/2 weeks for it to completely heal and scab over. It was SO PAINFUL! I will NEVER go to this place again! Next time I'll pay more for someone who knows the the F they are doing! Pros: NONE unless you like having your skin ripped off of you during your brazilian bikini wax Cons: Unprofessional waxing job more

Relaxing HIdden Gem 11/25/2007

Despite arriving late, we were warmly greeted and allowed downtime to decompress before the treatment. began I had the best massage ever - Yvonne worked on many of my shoulder knots and applied just the right amount of pressure to be effective yet still enjoyable! My mother had a facial that included both a head and neck massage besides the skin extractions. She truly glowed at the way out! We'll be back! Pros: Personalized Friendly Service Cons: Small facility that doesn't include spa or hot tub more

Excellent boutique day spa 9/18/2007

What a delightful "boutique" spa. The minute you walk in you notice the wonderful smell and the feeling of zen. The prices are reasonable ($70 an hour for a swedish massage) and the service is excellent. The spa is located in a very sweet small town so it is worth it to make a day of shopping and treating yourself to a relaxing massage or facial. They also offer Dr. Hauschka skincare! I highly recommend this quaint spa as a great alternative to the big commercial spas. more

Tiny and quaint. . . 7/10/2007

I have been to larger spas - Amadeus and Burke Williams, and I have been to smaller day spas Escape Day Spa (in Manhattan Beach - I recommend this one!!!) and Zen Spa in Pasadena. . . this is a smaller spa. No ammenities like steam room, showers or saunas. It was a little hard to find because it was upstairs in the middle of the street - on the east side. Once I walked in, I was greeted by my therapist, Donna. She was pleasant, and I would go back only because of her. I am in my first pregnancy, and just started my second trimester. I got a 90 minute pre-natal massage, and she went over the time. . . I needed that! Pros: Prices of services, massage therapist, location Cons: Small spa = hearing voices through the spa, no ammenities more

a soothing oasis 3/15/2007

I made an appointment for a facial on the recommendation of a friend who loves this spa. I was early, so sat out on the balcony overlooking the shops and park and finished a coffee, just relaxing....once inside, the Center was cozy and welcoming, with a quiet air of peace--think lotus flowers and orchids, a serene buddha, silk cushions, soft meditative music, and the scent of essential oils. The esthetician who greeted me noted that I had been out in the sun a bit much lately, and she adjusted the facial accordingly. I liked the products she used, both the feel on my skin and scent, and she told me about their development and ingredients. I nearly fell asleep while steaming. She did a thorough job of extractions, and when i left, my face (and the rest of me!) felt cleansed, nourished, hydrated, and soothed...i made an appointment to return in a couple of weeks for a massage and am looking forward to making this a regular experience! I would highly recommend the Center for Wellbeing to anyone seeking a professional skin care service with the added touch of a soothing environment. I'll let you know about the massage after I have it! Pros: beautiful atmosphere, friendly, knowledgeable staff Cons: street parking can be scarce--try the lot just to the south more

A sweet little spa in the delightful village of Sierra Madre! 1/31/2007

From eyebrow shaping to therapeutic massage and wonderful skincare treatments in between, The Center for Wellbeing meets my every need with knowledgeable and charming staff. When I began my regimen as a new client in 2004, I was made to feel very comfortable with my questions and concerns. I always plan on spending most of the day in Sierra Madre - sometimes hiking in the San Gabriel hills, sometimes visiting the nearby Arboretum before dropping into The Center for Wellbeing. I highly recommend 'my' little sanctuary! Pros: Ambience, excellent knowledge, very good service, relaxing atmosphere, small but offset by charm more
