Cazba Greek Mediterranean

Greek Cuisine Upon entering this establishment we were greeted at the door by a friendly host. We were seated at a table where one of our chairs was literally falling apart. They replaced it when we pointed it out. One of our utensils fell on floor and we asked our server for a new setting. Our server did not seem to understand this request or our drink order and she sent the host over to take over for her. We made our requests a second time and he was happy to take over for her. We placed our dinner order; Spanikopita and a Gyro platter. The food came out so fast that we felt that most of our order was rewarmed in a microwave. The Spanikopita had some nicely balanced flavors, with a nice sauce. It was delicious, but the texture of the phyllo was soggy and the entire entrée had warm and cold spots. On enquiring about the freshness, our host informed us that everything was fresh. The vegetable dish tasted like canned soup with a slight variation of added vegetables. The Mediterranean salad was quite nice and had three varieties of olives with a dressing that was nicely balanced but should have been made with some fresh salad greens, not iceberg lettuce. The Gyro entrée had flavorless tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, and slightly warm gyro meat with a very small amount of tiziki sauce. I asked for more sauce and received a small dish. I was not impressed with having to pay an extra dollar for this, as it should have been complimentary. In regards to taste, this dish was much lacking. It is a real disappointment to see that this establishment does not recognize what is literally in front of them. Most restaurants would die to have an abundance of fresh produce at their door front. There is no integrity with this company. I was curious about the restaurant and had been given a gift certificate. The food was excellent but when the bill came they had literally increased the prices from what was listed on the menu. All told we were charged 35% above listed menu prices. I kept all the written evidence including the gift cert, a menu copy and the bill to prove it but unless you want to pay random unidentified prices I would stay away no matter what you think of the food. Integrity should be worth something. more

We go to Cazba at least once a month, year round. We absolutely love this place--specially the fish passar. I agree with all of the reviews previously posted and would like to add an additional 2 cents... Order the Turkish Coffee: it is tiny, expensive, but a delight! more

We usually eat lunch out on Sunday. This Sunday we chose Cazba, a Mediterranean & Greek restaurant, in Downtown Boise. The atmosphere is pretty bistro-like. The tables are VERY small, but it is decorated nicely and has cool Greek/Mediterranean music playing in the background. The menu is pretty cool and prices aren't terrible. The meals are around 8.95 to 11.95 although the children's meals are 7.95 which is the most I think I've paid for a children's plate. I had a Chicken Gyro and my husband ordered a regualr Gyro. The cucumber sauce (I can't remember the actual name, sorry!) was really good at first but then as we started to eat it, it was overloaded with feta cheese. I enjoy a sprinkling of feta but, wow. The meat was a little charred, but the flavor was good. The wrap itself was very yummy! In fact, my kids' grilled cheese was actually a grilled wrap with cheese in it. So soft and tender and tasted awesome! They serve Pepsi products which is a big thumbs up in my book and of course wines. There is an outdoor patio also, but this time os year was too hot for us to try that. All in all, it was a cool experience to try foods from another country and it was a nice lunch! more

In the height of the summer dining season, we have to go to Cazba a couple times to eat out on their patio. They have the best Greek food in Boise (if you don't count the Greek Food Festival, which is hard to beat). We go for the hummus and pita bread and also for the grape leaves. The spanikopita is really wonderful too. Our whole family enjoys the restaurant, including the kids. Service is excellent. There's nothing not to like. Prices are a little higher than average, but it's worth it for an occasional splurge. more

I love the summer, when dining outside is an option. And at the height of the outdoor dining season, we have to make it to The Cazba once or twice. They have wonderful appetizers and great entrées. One of our favorite things there is the hummus with pita bread, but the grape leaves also deserve special mention. Service is wonderful and we always look forward to going back again. Prices are a little higher than other places, but worth it for a special treat. more

The Cazba is the best, if not only, truly authentic Greek restaurant in Boise. They offer a wide selection of salads and pitas, but also have several nightly dinner specials. While I'm a huge fan of their falafel pita, they have also won me over with their fantastic dolmades which is essentially a rice and ground lamb mixture wrapped in grape leaves in a sweet and sour sauce. I usually only get to come here a few times a year, but every time I am given great service. It's nice going to a restaurant where the people seem to enjoy what they do. It's a little on the pricey side ($14 for pitas, $17 for specials). But you'll leave feeling satisfied on so many levels. more

If the only "Greek" food you've had is from the Pita Pit, you are missing out! Cazba is an authentic Greek restaurant, and it's right here in Boise. The service is excellent, and the manager always makes it a point to ask you how the meal was. The decor inside is lovely, but I recommend eating on the patio when the weather is good. As for the food, it's delicious! My favorite dish is the spinokopita, a spinach pie made with phyllo dough and feta cheese. Every dish comes with your choice of rice, vegetables, or fries. I recommend the veggies, because they are an interesting mix in a savory sauce, something you can't get anywhere else. It's kind of an expensive restaurant, so expect to spend close to $20 a person when you go there. But it's worth it for a special treat! more

I absolutely love Cazba! I remember the first time I went (years ago) how afraid I was to try Mediterranean/Greek food so I played it safe with a Teriyaki Chicken Wrap. I was disappointed so I didn't go back for a long time. Well, my family wanted to go again so this time I tried the Dajaj Chicken Wrap and fell in love. It was absolutely amazing! Now this restaurant is my favorite and I always make sure to go every year on my birthday. The prices are a little more expensive than your average restaurant (about $13/$14 for a wrap and $16+ for their other entrees), but it is certainly worth the price. My only suggestion is if you go to be adventurous! Don't play it safe like I did the first time or you could end up missing out on some of the best food you've ever had! more

I took my girlfriend here a few weeks back, and I was blown away. The food was amazing. I'm not usually a big fan of Greek food, but wow, it was great. I can personally recommend the Teriyaki Fish, hands down best I've ever had. The murals on the wall, as well as the patio dining complete the experience. The staff is great, and prices are quite reasonable. I would recommend this to anyone with an adventurous pallet. more
