I have purchased many pieces from this store, and Michael and Soraya were always very gracious and welcoming to me. They were always happy to show me their new pieces and sit down for a glass of wine when I stopped by later in the afternoon. But, things began to change for me financially, and soon after, their disposition toward began to change as well. It became clear to me when I brought one of my Crevoshay pieces in for repair. The Cayens had never charged for maintenance to my pieces, and I never even thought to ask about the price on this repair because it was so minor (a small loop connecting two pieces had broken). When I returned to pick up the pendant, Michael handed me a bill for $150. I reminded him that maintenance had always been included to which he responded, “Yes, we do include maintenance for our clients, but you haven’t bought anything from us for over a year.” Then he proceeded to explain his reasoning in such a way that made it sound like he had been doing me a favor by letting me purchase jewelry from his store for all these years. I was in complete shock. I felt like I had been kicked in the stomach. I have spent over $70,000 in this store and they have written me off as a client after just one year! Over a $150 repair! The experience was so hurtful that it is difficult for me to even enjoy wearing the pieces I have purchased from them over the years. Needless to say, I will not be going back, and I am ashamed that I allowed myself to have ever been drawn in by these disingenuous people. They have an absolutely stunning collection of gemstones and are so well versed in the actual geology of each piece, that not only do you come away with lovely baubles of art, but an education of its evolution from loose stone to set gem. The Cayen Collection has the most amazing array of beautiful jeweled treasures that I have seen, in my extensive travels, over the years\r The salon is elegant while being comfortable and inviting\r Soraya and Michael Cayen are lovely and gracious hosts, to their clients, and they go out of their way to extend every imaginable service\r Descretion is a high priority, for the Cayens, and they are extreme professionals who are a joy to work with \r This is a jewelry salon not to be missed\r Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

Beautiful Gems, Appalling Service 2/24/2008

Jewelry, and especially an engagement ring, should be a happy purchase, yet the Cayens managed to take all the joy out of our purchase with their exceptionally poor, downright rude service.\r Here is the story: \r My sapphire engagement ring came from this store, and it was shipped to us with a very visible chip in the center stone that could be felt by running your finger across it. When we sent it back to have it fixed, it took six weeks to get it back with no apology from the owners. When it came back again, there was still a visible trace of the chip in the stone, and the stone had not been reset squarely in the prongs.\r I didn't send it back again, because I didn't want any more hassle than we had already been through.\r Several months later, the stone came loose in the setting and I brought it back to the Cayens assuming basic maintenance was included. Michael Cayen assured me that they would take care of it, never mentioning any cost to me whatsoever. A month later, the ring was ready, along with the $370 bill!!\r I stopped by the store to pick up the ring, and when I politely expressed my dismay at the price of the repair, Michael Cayen came unglued and threw me out of the store!
