Catering by the River House

EXTREMLEY hard to get a hold of. Management/staff rude, not friendly or co-operative when issues arise such as air-conditioning not working, spider webs all over the gazebo, not enough tables for guests, etc. Hall needs renovating and updating. Food was good but they ran out of the meat which costs extra. I would classify this hall as a low end hall. The pricing to me seemed high for what we received. more

Good: The venue is small, good for intamate receptions, the outdoor patio was a hit with out guests, and the food was delicious by all accounts.. Bad: They are impossible to get ahold of, you have to leave a ton of VM's, or catch them when the VM isn't full. Poor service & attitudes, I (the Bride) was emptying ashtrays & picking up glasses, & when I complained to the mgmt, I was told, "It's not her job to wash glasses". They threw an extra $250 charge at us 7 days before the wedding, payable only in cash on the day of the wedding. (told us that they would only take cash on the wedding day). They double booked our date, and asked us move our wedding. Improvements: I think with a change in management, this place COULD be a gold mine. Great food, great location, but the management ruined what should have been the best day of my life.. more

This place was a joke! I was there this weekend for a wedding reception. They ran out of food with about 4 tables to go, and when they finally prepared enough to cover the last 4 tables (I was one of these tables), it was awful!!! Just terrible food! They were totally unprepared. It was like we were at the first ever function at this place! It was just a joke! I would not recommend this place for any function! I also heard they served a menu that the Bride and Groom did not expect! They changed the menu without even telling the Bride and Groom!?!?!? Cmon! The place was extremely hot too. They must not have a very good air conditioner unit. The staff was not very friendly either. I wish I had something good to say, but I must forewarn anyone looking at this place. more

THE RIVER HOUSE IS NOT THAT BIG BUT IT IS VERY NICE. THEY ARE RIGHT ON THE CLINTON RIVER JUST OUTSIDE OF DOWNTOWN MT. CLEMENS. THE PLACE IS NICELY DONE INSIDE AND THE PEOPLE THERE ARE ALL VERY NICE .THE FOOD THERE IS PRETTY GOOD.IF YOU WERE HAVING A PARTY OR A NOT TO BIG WEDDING THIS WOULD BE A NICE PLACE TO HAVE THE RECEPTION. WE HAVE USED THEM ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. more
