EXCELLENT VETERINARIAN!!!! 4/24/2012

My husband and I have taken our cats to the Cat Hospital of Austin for almost 10 years now and we have had EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT experiences. I have also referred several other friends with cats and they have also had OUTSTANDING experiences. Kim and her staff are incredibly knowledgeable, experienced, and genuinely LOVE CATS. It's very apparent that they know and love cats. Our cats are our babies and I trust Kim and her staff with their lives. I would NOT go anywhere but the Cat Hospital of Austin. I trust Kim 100% and I know that she is always looking out for the best interests of our cat. I just cannot speak more highly of Kim and her staff. If you love your cat, bring them to The Cat Hospital of Austin! more

Cat Hospital of Austin gets 5 stars. 3/26/2011

Wanted to weigh in on the quality of care provided by Dr. Kim Percival and her staff. Recently had to take in my 14-yr-old Siamese who'd long had IBS. She had suddenly gotten worse. They attended to the condition well, but after a short period of improvement things turned even worse. Time to make that final decision. more

Don't go to the Cat Hospital if you love your cat. 3/19/2011

IF YOU LOVE YOUR CAT, DON'T GO HERE. My experience, well, to say the least, I would like to put these inadequate people out of business. I have a little female who was pregnant, her only, and I knew, some owners Know things, right? I knew she shouldn't carry this litter full term. I inquired the cost of having her aborted, $300. I said ok reluctantly but could I give you half now and half when my check comes in a few days. I just moved into this neighborhood and they are right across the street. They didn't talk with me, question me as to my reasons, they said, This is not an emergency so NO. They sent me away treating me like I was indigent. My little Angel had the litter, had difficulty and wound unable to walk. I rushed her over there and again, they sent me away. Told me that ""she could walk"" when in reality all she could do was drag herself. ""Come back in an hour"". When I returned they didn't know what to do, but they charged me $200 which is all they are concerned about. I called another vet that I trusted and they told me the shot that she needed right away. Well, they had already made us wait for an hour. My baby still has problems with her hind legs and I couldn't be madder. more

My cats are family 12/7/2009

The parking here is a joke. Business must not be very good if you only have a few spaces, so I should have thought about that. Dr. Percival, who I've heard good things about, seems very distracted and is not very friendly. I'm wondering if this isn't really a clinic that welcomes ""new"" cats and owners. I was suckered in by the fact they only treat cats, but that doesn't matter if they're not treating them very well. I see a lot of good reviews on here from people that look like they have gone here for years. That was a disappointing experience, so I'm checking reviews again Citysearch. Pros: Cats only Cons: Parking, distracted doctor, unprofessional more

Best! 11/27/2009

Very impressed with vet service; very knowledgeable, trustworthy, honest Pros: Great place for veterinary care more

Great place to take your cats for vet services! 11/12/2009

I've been going to the Cat Hospital of Austin for about 8 years now. One of my cats has cardiomyopathy and everyone seems to be very knowledgeable about this health issue and are helpful in explaining to me on how to take care of him at home. My other cat is aggressive and sometimes difficult to handle when outside his home. They are the only place that is willing to handle him without any complaints. All the doctors, nurses, and staff here actually care about the animals unlike others I've been to in the past. Dr. Perceival and Dr. Bodner are wonderful when it comes to the care of my cats and are always willing to answer any questions I have. The staff is great also and always willing to help - in particular Kim, Amanda, and Lauren! I wouldn't recommend going anywhere else since I feel they get the best care and provide many services at the Cat Hospital of Austin! Pros: For cats only, very knowledgeable on health issues more

The only place to take your kitty cat! 11/1/2009

As our family of kitties has grown, Dr. Kim Percival and Amanda have been seeing ours for nearly 10 years and we would never take them anywhere else. Recently, one of my cats met Dr. Kimberly Bodner and vet nurse, Kimberly M. for the first time and both were wonderful as well. I'm always telling fellow cat owners about Cat Hospital of Austin and how amazing Dr. Percival is and I'm so happy that now there are two doctors to brag about. The rest of the staff is just as fabulous...always so accommodating, friendly, caring and professional as well. We recently adopted a puppy and I had to go to a ""dog"" vet for the first time and while chatting with a lady about her cat, I told her all about CHOA. Keep up the great work! Cleo, Wheeler, Elvis and Ozzy's Mommy. Pros: Very caring, cat-only vet. Cons: NONE! more

Best feline vet in Austin 8/16/2009

I have been to a many different vets in the area (most with horrifying results), and I am so relieved that I have finally found Dr. Percival. She and her entire staff are so caring and attentive - I would never consider taking my cat anywhere else. Pros: cats only, caring staff, don't have to sit in a waiting room Cons: a little expensive more

My Cat's safety was compromised 6/12/2009

My family has been a customer of Cat Hospital since 2002. The staff service has been exceptional and caring towards our cats. Unfortunately, one of my cats passed away during a routine teeth-cleaning back in 2007, due to a fatal allergic reaction to Penicillin. I took it for granted that the Vet knew about broad spectrum antibiotics was the choice for any animal with an unknown allergic reaction to Penicillin. One would think I learned my lesson by coming back and allowing this Vet to treat my other cats. Since then my two other cats have been experimented on for every scratch and bump. Just recently I brought one of my cats in for a check up on a small possible bite wound. I specifically requested for the Vet to just administer a two week antibiotic since it was a small scab already healing, if there were anything more she was supposed to call me before doing anything else. My family was already committed to leaving the next day for vacation. Unfortunately, the Vet took it upon herself to open up my cat and had problems stitching up the wound she enlarged. She called me to let know what she done and charging me close to $500!!!! I had no choice but to keep my cat at this hospital for a week so they could fix the botched surgery she has done to my cat. Now my cat has this giant gaping hole on the back of her left rear leg and has to be sequestered for over 2 weeks indoor. This time, the wound will take an awful long time to heal. This is the last I'm putting up with this Vet. Pros: Cat Only Hospital and Caring Staff Cons: Inexperienced Veterinarian who doesn't know what she's doing more

Re: Inconsistent medical treatment 9/17/2008

I have to agree with reviews by Calyafa and barbaby. Dr. Percival was very rude, cold, distracted and unproffesional. I paid for a full exam and my cat's teeth were the only thing looked at. No temperature taken, nothing. She wanted to schedule surgery and said we would be given an estimate. She misunderstood the dates on medical history I gave her and when I corrected her she snapped at me. I did not feel comfortable having this vet perform surgery on my cat and did take her elsewhere. I took her to Balcones Animal Hospital and feel very confident with them and should have gone there first. My cat was given a full exam and was treated as if she means something to someone. Pros: No barking dogs Cons: vets attitude and performance more

Outstanding service and care 8/29/2008

I trust my brood to Dr. Percival and her staff. Amanda bends over backward to fit my hectic schedule, and the rest of the staff are super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Dr. P knows her stuff, medically. And on 2 occasions when it came time to euthanize my geriatric kitties, they were respectful, compassionate and outlined all my options for me. They even came to my home so my girl could go in peace. Pros: Excellent medical care and staff Cons: a little more pricey than your run-of-the-mill vet more

GREAT staff & DR 8/12/2008

I have been going to the Cat Hospital to see Dr Percival for about 8 yrs (ever since she opened) and I have never had any issues with any of the staff members. They have always been very caring and have always got back to me in a very timely manner. Amanda has even gone out of her way to contact the Dr (on her day off) because I was concerned something serious was going on with my kitty and needed Dr Percival's opinion on what she thought I needed to do. I highly recommend Dr Percival and her staff. Pros: All cat only facility Cons: more parking more

Staff 5/16/2008

Both The Cat Hospital and Central Texas Cat Hospital are great hospitals and its fortunate to have feline only clinics available. My cats are so much more relaxed. The biggest difference between the two is that Central Texas Cat Hospital is a NO DECLAW hospital and The Cat Hospital is not. Pros: feline only, nice location Cons: Does declawing more

Inconsistent medical treatment and rude office staff 5/14/2008

This review is for Cat Hosp. of Austin on Pond Springs Road. I agree with the review ""Twilight Zone"" about the rudeness, esp. Amanda in the front office. More critical to me however, was the inconsistency of the vet herself in her interest, responsiveness, and treatment priorities for my cat - decisions and statements she made one day were completely negated by her staff, who then offered no solution, in spite of the fact that a weekend was coming up and the doctor would not be back until Monday (they are closed the last Sat. of the month). When finally able to discuss with the vet herself she was vague and then contradicted what she had told me earlier. This situation of mixed messages and changing decisions happened at least twice. I did not feel confident in the treatment my kitty received, and I also thought the rude behavior of the staff was totally uncalled for and out of line. Pros: no barking dogs to upset cats Cons: Rude staff and inconsistent responses from vet more

RE: Twilight Zone 3/7/2008

I think that this review was meant about Central Texas Cat Hospital, although they are both Feline only facilities there is infact a huge difference in the two clinics. ( see review on Central Texas Cat Hospital ) more

Compassionate and Knowledgable 10/11/2007

Dr. Percival and the staff at Cat Hospital are the best in town. It's so nice to be able to take your cat to a vet who obviously love cats and where there's no barking, scary dogs to frighten kitties. They are a little more expensive than the vet closer to my house, but when my regular vet told me my cat had renal failure and to 'just put him down', I took him to Cat Hospital for a second opinion and found he was misdiagnosed and definitely had a lot more life to live! Pros: Loving, professional, and current with latest research and advancements Cons: Slightly higher prices more

Twilight Zone 8/8/2007

Annoying office staff; it never ceases to amaze me that professional DVM manage to hire such consumer unfriendly and unprofessional office staff. For my needs, I switched from Cat Hospital and McNeil Crossing to Austin Vet Care at Metric (Parmer and Metric) where my pet and I were treated with dignity and at a fair price. I noticed someone else wrote a review who had a similar experience as mine with the front office at Cat Hospital. But.. thank goodness for capitalism, because I'd have to stab myself in the neck before seeing Cat Hospital. Cons: Two words: Office staff more
