Best

I have been to tons of buffets and unlimited mimosas for Sunday Brunch but this restaurant by far is the best! Amazing view, you can sit outside or next to the window. The service...

Worst

Five of us had dinner Sunday night April 24, 2005 at Castaway. We were all excited to be there until we experienced slow service with lots of mistakes and awful food. We were ...

Great Place 2/15/2003

Castaway is a great place with good food and the best view LA can offer prices are good too, most people here complain about the price well maybe some off you are too cheap, you go to a freat place like this of course it will cost you more then the McDonalds dollar menu. Bottom point Castaway is the perfect place for a romantic dinner. more

great food and view 10/22/2002

The best view in Los Angeles thats not on the Ocean. You can see the whole valley and enjoy some great drinks. For dinner I had Seared Ahi, the best I've ever had! Pros: View, Drinks, Commpetative price Cons: only vallet, service more

Gorgeous Castaways!! 9/22/2002

I LOVE CASTAWAY! This is one of my FAVORITE restaurants..HANDS DOWN! The service was EXCELLENT!!!! I loved our adorable waitress! The setting, which is on top of a hill and above all of LA with a gorgeous view...could NOT be more romantic! The dim setting a large open windows definitely set the mood! I had filet mignon, a midori sour, and yummy dessert...such a wonderful experience! I highly recommend this place and am excited to visit there again!! What a fantastic treat more

I LOVE THE CASTAWAY!!! 9/8/2002

probably my favorite restaurant, definitely in the top 3! the food and the view really make the restaurant. we can never decide on one thing to order, so we order several entrees and apetizers. then we order something to take home! its a perfect place for a date, but the wait (for a table and the food) can be obnoxious, esp when you're looking forward to eating. definitely make a reservation if you dont want to wait, otherwise, go outside and enjoy the lovely view! and although things may be slow, the service is excellent. also, if youre planning on dining w/ a group, i'd suggest getting a table outside. it can be a bit dark inside. more

rude hostress... 8/7/2002

I went there on a date, The guy I went with made reservations and when we got there the hostress was so rude, treating us as if we didn't have the money or something for this place....It ruined our meal and made our visit the worse. I will not ever go back and I will never tell anyone good thing about castaways.... Pros: view, good food, parking Cons: service, hostress more

Nice hideaway 5/20/2002

This is a great place to go and have drinks on the patio with friends. I would go for drinks only and skip dinner. The food is okay. Pros: big patio, nice view Cons: food not that good more

Go for the view, Stay Away From the Food 5/9/2002

There are several important things to know about the Castaway. First, this is maybe the third or fourth incarnation of the restaurant. It's burned down under several times in my lifetime alone. Somebody always rebuilds it and recreates it with the same decor as before. And they usually charge a lot more money for the subpar food than the previous owner. That's the cycle. \r \r The reason to go there is not for the food or even the appetizers necessarily, but for the drinks and the view. \r \r Yes, it is a Valley view, so in that sense it does not compare to what you'll get at any of the Windows locations or Yamashiro. But it's a nice valley view and the outside firepits add a romantic touch. Go for dinner somewhere else and come here afterward for the view and drinks. Pros: amazing valley view, good drinks Cons: way too overpriced, poor food quality more
