great food + great experience - we had a celebration after burial of my sister's ashes. She had always wanted a ravioli party for her grandchildren. Appetizers were excellent - including tomatoes, mozzarella + basil. Ravioli as good and we were so stuffed we could barely finish the tiramisu, so we took most of it home. The kids also got to take home raviolis. We had the room to ourselves as there was a banquet in the back. It was a wonderful private party and the wait staff was wonderful. Good experience for the whole family. more

Can I give negative stars to this place? 1/15/2012

A 1 star Eh rating is an over statement. Poor, displeasing, horrible are all better. I went to this restaurant last night for a friend?s birthday party. I drove with 3 others all from NJ. It took us 1 hour to get there. We got to the restaurant around 7. We were part of a party of 14 people & were seated promptly. Right away when I got to the table I saw a problem. We were packed in like a herd of cattle. There was one long table for 10 that should have seated 8. At one end there was a shorter round table that was for 2 but they shoved 4 people here. Plus they put an extra chair behind me. I couldn't pull it out because we used to hold gifts for the birthday girl and we had no where to put without putting it with the party next to us. My back hurt from sitting so straight. About 30 minutes later the rest of the party arrived & our first waiter took the appetizer order. That came out fast! The bruschetta was nasty. It was soaked in oil & the toppings were eh. The calamari was ok I was told. About 30 minutes later the waiter took our food order. Here is where it got bad. Our order took 90 minutes! In the 90 minutes they apparently switched servers on us. They kept bringing bread but gave up doing that. I lost count how many times the second waiter we had told us that on average there is a 45 minute wait for food on the weekend. THAT'S HORRIBLE! Get your act together, you can't do that people. Around 9:30 we finally got dinner after 6 tables in our room either finished and left or were about to finish their meal. All these tables ordered right before us or well after us. My fettuccine alfredo was pretty good, but not worth the wait. Some people ordered baked foods that they needed spoons for because it was like soup. When questioned the waiter said that it was correct. My friend ordered a meal with veal in it. He's still looking for the veal. They should have said veal flavored. Another ordered a medium-rare steak. It came medium-well. When asked if it was okay by the waiter he hesitated & said ok. The waiter offered to recook it but he didn't want to wait 45 minutes again. Another person ordered the ravioli & got 4 for $20 bucks. Olive Garden gives you more. After dinner the waiter asked who wants cake. He stopped mid-sentence because he ruined the last part of the surprise for the birthday girl. They brought us the cake, we sang, they took the cake away to cut up & cut it to serve. While they were cutting it our third waitress came & asked my friend with the bad steak if he wanted a free dessert or coffee for it. He politely asked if as a table could have a 20% discount or free appetizers for all the above problems & the 2.5 hour wait. She said she would have to ask the manager. The manager/owner lady came over & told him ?No we don't do that.? She refused to accommodate us like they didn't do anything wrong by making us wait, cramming us into the table, or by serving other parties. When we asked why the table of 2 got there food & left in an hour she said ""Cause that was duce"". How rude was that? She couldn't even say a table of two, she had to say duce. I asked if she would even take off 1/2 of the appetizers but she refused. We decided to stop wasting our breath & leave. When the 3rd waitress came with the check she saw fit to take care of us where the manager wouldn't. We were thankful for that. A place like this doesn't deserve business if they can't treat customers? right & make good to keep the customer happy. We were better off going to the bowling alley across the street. It would have had better seating, better managers, better serving, & cost less. Living in NJ is a natural barrier to going back here but even if I lived in the area I would never go back. This place will go out of business or be bought by new managers at some point because these people don't know or care about their business. Save your money go to Olive Garden, your experience will be better. more

Very Unsatisfied! 11/28/2010

Upon our arrival everything appeared to be perfect. The wafting aroma of an active kitchen and the friendly reception welcomed us like old friends. We were seated immediately in a nice location and from here everything went downhill faster than an olympic downhill skier. more

Great food and atmosphere 4/5/2010

My husband and I recently went to Cascata Caffe for our anniversary dinner. It was our first time there and it came highly recommended by our friends. We were not disappointed! The food was delicious! I had the grilled salmon and my husband had a veal dish (They were both specials, they have so many!) The portions were great; we were so full by the end of the meal that we had to take dessert to go! Our waitress was all very knowledgeable and nice. I would recommened this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dinner! Pros: great food, great service more

Our Experience at Cascata 3/26/2010

In refrence to the previous review, anyone who has ever worked in a restaurant will know that oil will be reused and bread is turned into croutons or bread crumbs. This is why I cook at home and rarely eat out. Pros: Servers are very welcoming Cons: Food takes forever and is average for the cost. more

What a gross restaurant! 3/26/2010

The foulest restaurant! At this restaurant the overwhelming issue is cost. To keep costs low the restaurant actually re-uses all seasoned oil that is put on the tables for dipping in bread. They then bring it back out to other people who are eating the saliva morsels from the previous persons oil dish. YUCK! The hygeine standards of those preparing the food is beyond suspect as well. Also all the bread that is on each table and touched and picked at by guests that is not used will be later turned into crutons for the salad. Thats disgusting! The service at the restaurant is good but is limited to the extremely slow execution of the food. Most of the steaks recently are a brown and not a red color before they are cooked leaving me to wonder about the quality and freshness of the food all-over. Also while tipping on credit cards the server will only receive 90% of what you sign off on. The restaurant actually pockets the other 10%. Slimy! Pros: Great Servers Cons: Food standards, cleanliness, excessive waits, hygeine more

Service at a glacial pace 1/26/2010

We had reservations for eight for 7 p.m. on a Saturday night, as we were all reconvening at another spot at 8:30, or at least we hoped to. Pros: It was crowded, so obviously some people liked it Cons: Don't count me among them, though more

good place for good food but,... 4/4/2009

We had an anniversary arranged, and we had asked for just a few things and they came up short. We needed a certain amount of highchairs and a small table for a cake and presents, and we were told when we arrived that they had the highchairs being used already. There was no cake table, as well. We had called to tell them we were running a few minutes late, they said that was fine, BUT the table had to be vacated for another party by a specific time. we agreed to do so, and have our cake at home, but they agreed to serve the cake. When the bill arrived, they were short with us. We were figuring out the bill, when the waitress informed us the other party was there, and more or less, to hurry up. SO I would not recommend this establishment for a large gathering. Pros: cant take anything away from the food Cons: when you arrange a special party, and they don't come thru more

It is the Best 11/17/2005

I have gone to Cascata Caffe several times with my wife and with larger groups. The portions are a great size, and the taste is just unbeatable. My waiter was so freindly and able to answer any questions I had. They have a large number a specials every night that are described to you in complete detail at your table. My wife and I have recomened this little quiet Italian Caffe to all of my friends. I also must admit they also have a wonderful pizza just 4 stores done at Casacata Gourmet Pizza. Pros: Great Portions, service, taste more
