Nice location outside during the summer but double the price for similar mexican food restaurants. 50% chance of getting a good tasting margarita and then it's mostly ice. Some ...

We were trying to think of a nice place to hang out on a beautiful Friday evening and Case de Benavidez came to mind. They have one of the nicest patios in town. We both ordered the ""make your own"" platter with one item. I had the chile relleno with beans and papitas. It was fine, it had yellow cheese in it, I prefer white Mexican cheese, the sauce was good. The margaritas were wonderful. Usually I have the veggie fajitas, which are tasty and enough food for two people, I just wasn't that hungry. I guess I'll go back to that next time. more

I love the veggie fajitas at Casa de Benavidez. Always had friendly, fast service here. I was looking for another cantina style restaurant now that El Pinto has gone downhill, and this has a nice patio and is a nice place to take out of towners. more

Ever since I moved to Colorado 2 years ago..I've developed a nasty habit for green chile. I got the chance to finally visit New Mexico, and the first thing on the agenda was to find an amazing New Mexican restaurant. We had locals take us here. What can I say, this place was tops. We enjoyed a nice fall evening on the big patio. \r \r I ordered the chicken enchiladas christmas since I wanted to try both the green and red chile. I was not a fan of the red-it had some smokey undertones to it. I'm not big on red to begin with but I did want to try it anyways. However, the green chile was fantastic! And both were about the same consistency of heat, which I loved! I loved the green chile so much that I purchased a jar of it when I left for $5! \r BF got the sopapilla burger that this place made famous. I love the sopapillas! And on a burger, it was that much more amazing. Oh and every meal comes with a sopapilla on the side. Don't forget the honey!\r \r Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for decent, affordable NM cuisine. more

Casa de Benavidez is just down the street from me. We used to go on Sunday mornings for a chile fix and, in good weather, we would enjoy their lovely patio dining. I never had a bad meal there and the folks are very friendly and helpful. more

Wanted a place off the beaten path for dinner; I've learned from experience the following: Don't ask the hotel concierge - ask the bartender! She was spot on! Walked in on a Saturday eve to the background tunes of a classical guitar, which set the stage. Our very friendly waiter made a few suggestions of his favorites - the cheese chili rellenos and anything with carne adovada. Made a combination of the above, along with tastes of green and red chilis. Delicious introduction to New Mexican cuisine - chili, chili and more chili. The food does have a kick to it! Other hits at the table were more traditional Mexican fare - shrimp fajitas, a burrito and a chimichanga. Another house specialty is the homemade sopapillas. Enjoyed with honey, they were a sweet contrast to the picante chili-laden combination that I enjoyed. Very friendly and helpful staff, which is consistent with everyone else I met on my week-end in New Mexico! more
