This is pretty much the only authentic Colombian food in Dallas. In a city where Mexican & Tex-Mex is the norm, you really don'y have much of a choice. The appetizers including the Colombian style empanadas and the fried Yuca are the best. The rest of the menu is pretty bland and expensive for the quality of food you get. We are from Miami and there are so many great Colombian restaurants to choose from (inexpensive as well). If you're looking for good empanadas and Yuca then this is your place but the regular food doesn't taste very authentic, considering we are Colombian and know how it should taste. If they lower their prices than it would be worth it. Also..the food takes FOREVER to come out and the service is SOOO SLOW!!!! Last time our arepa con queso was burnt!! Honestamente, la comida mas horrorosa que he comido en toda mi vida.\r Sin duda alguna, la comida se nota que no es hecha por cocineros Colombianos sino Mexicanos. Dudo que ellos sepan algo de nuestras tradiciones tipicas de la comida Colombiana. Sin dejar atras los altos precios de sus platos, lo cual lo hace mas desagradable para la ocasion. Hace poco fui para Tampa y probe varios restaurantes colombianos, y ahi me di cuanta que ""Casa Vieja"", no esta en nada... El tamal sabe desagradable, la morcilla sabe a vieja, como el nombre del restaurante, porque la comida sabe a vieja tambien. Y MuY CaRa que es para lo que venden. Esto no es comida Gourmet, esto es comida criolla, entonces no cobren como si lo fuera, ladrones. Vallan para la Florida a ver si aprenden un poco de sus restaurantes. I am not going to complain about the food because it is pretty darn good. The empanadas with the sauce are great as well as the baindeja paisa. The desserts not so much. My wife who's Laos ethnicity loves the food as well.One thing I have learned from visiting Casa Vieja for the past 10 years is to check, doublecheck, and triple check my check when it comes to paying. The first time I remember things were miraculously appearing on my bill I let it pass by as an accident but 10 years later and 40 times of visiting Casa Vieja the owners always try to sneak in something extra on the check. I have also had testimonies of other customers that say the same thing. It might be that they need to go to the eye doctor but too many times is too much of a coincidence. EVER SINCE I MOVED HERE FROM COLOMBIA ABOUT 14 YRS AGO I HAVE MISSED ALL THE GREAT FOOD FROM THERE. THEN ABOUT 8 YRS AGO SOMEONE IN MY FAMILY FOUND A COLOMBIAN RESTARUANT AND I HAVE BEEN GOING EVER SINCE. THE FOOD IS GREAT AND IT TASTE JUST LIKE THE FOOD IN COLOMBIA. MY FAVORITE DISH IS THE CARNE ASADA, MMM THAT IS SO GOOD. DONT GET ME WRONG ALL THE DISHES THERE ARE GREAT! WHEN I GO OUT TO MEXICAN RESTARUANTS AND ORDER THE SAME THING (CARNE ASADA), ITS NOT THE THE SAME AT ALL. PPL GET MEXICAN FOOD CONFUSED WITH COLOMBIAN AND I DONT SEE HOW UNLESS U HAVE TRIED IT YOURSELF. I GOT MY HUSBAND TO LIKE AND HE LOVES IT, BUT MY N-LAWS ARE NOT BIG FANS. Con respecto al comentario del se?or CamiloCaldas9 dejeme decirle que yo estoy recien llegada a Dallas y me da tristeza que personas como usted que son disque colombianos hagan comentarios tan de mala sangre como el que lei hace un momento, que verguenza que gente como usted le de tan malos comentarios y de la manera en que lo hace, usted es un inculto de tiempo completo de verdad que pena ajena me da gente como usted, yo apoyo a la gente colombiana que esta por aca que con mucho esfuerzo monta un negocio como ese que no debe ser nada facil y mas tan lejos, conseguir la gente tampoco es facil, si no le gusta la comida devuelvase a Colombia donde consigue de todo. Con respecto al comentario inculto de mi ""compatriota"" sobre el Restaurante y sus empleados, es obvio que es un comentario hecho con rabia y cobardia y que padece de toda veracidad. Por favor deje los comentarios personales sobre los due?os y su familia , y solo concentrece en la comida y sus servicios. Y de la forma que se expreso tan vulgarmente y tan sin clase, es obvio que usted conoce a las personas del restaurante. He ido a Casa Vieja desde su apertura, hace mas de 10 a?os y nunca he tenido un momento desagradable ni con los due?os ni con la comida. Es un lugar familiar y respetuoso. Y que? si los cocineros no son Colombianos, somos todos hermanos latinos y debemos de ayudarnos..\r Es un lugar y servicio a todos los Colombianos, porque es el unico restaurante Colombiano en la cuidad de Dallas que ha permanecido abierto, los hechos hablan por si solos porque el restaurante ha perdurado. Casa Vieja serves up all the traditional dishes of Colombia, including the bandeja paisa (in two sizes). Excellent empanadas and chicharron. Don't come here expecting Mexican, you'll be surprised. I have been taking my university Spanish classes for a feel trip to ""Casa Vieja"" for several years. Is a great place for my students to practice their Spanish and to try authentic Colombian food. Most of them love the food and have a good time dancing after eating. I will recommend it to all the Spanish teachers, is a great culture experience for the students. more

Casa Vieja is a wonderful restaurant that I frequent several times per month. It is family run and has authentic South American food, music and atmosphere. The food and service is always wonderful. In addition, many weekends include live music and dancing. Unfortunately you have incorrectly listed Casa Vieja as a Mexican restaurant. It is a Colombian restaurant with all of the cuisine and beverages from that country readily available and prepared in exquisite style. Please correct your listing so that anyone wishing to find good Colombian food and atmosphere will know that Casa Vieja is the place to go. Thank you. more
