Cary O'Brien's Design and Color Spa

I went to this salon as a model for a junior stylist there working her way up in the salon. I went there knowing that I was a model and that my stylist was going to be helped and watched to make sure she was doing ok. But wow was that an experience. My stylist did a great job, i loved how it turned out but as for the owner... I felt so uncomfortable sitting there while he was being very rude to the stylist doing my hair. He was very unprofessional in front of a client, even if I was a model. I felt so bad for this stylist and all of them working there to have to be put in this situation. I know he was trying to teach her but the way he went about it made my whole experience very upsetting. I will not go in there again because I do not wish to support a business that is ran by someone who treats his stylist like this, especially in front of clients. I went here b/c my stylist from Columbia MO recommended them. I made sure to book with a senior stylist. The day I went there she had a nervous breakdown I was told. So after driving 45 minutes to get there and waiting at least 20 minutes before someone told me this, they stuck me with someone who was open. They stated she had 19+ yrs. of experience, which to me doesn't mean someone is good or not. She definately was not good. I think she tried but my hair ended up looking like an overpriced mullet. Do not go to these people, very unprofessional. more

Being new to the area I was hesitant in searching for a new salon. Walking into the salon I was greeted by the friendly front desk staff who took my coat & offered me a beverage. I was escorted back with my stylist, Julie to discuss my hair needs. We consulted & decided on both a cut & color that would best suit me & my lifestyle. I found Julie to be very talented & knowledgable. She was able to answer my many, many questions. In the end I loved both my cut & color. I've never had so many compliments on my hair. I have defiantly found the salon that is perfect for me. I would highly recommend Cary O'Briens to anyone. Their different levels of sylists are sure to meet anyones needs & budget. I was referred to Cary by a good friend when I moved here and was very happy when I walked in and was greeted by a very nice girl behind the counter and felt like I was actually wanted in their salon. My two other places that I tried (and spent a lot more money) was not that pleasant. But I was even happier with the service and the quality of cut that I got from Kelly. She sat me down before she even started and actually listened to what I really wanted. I was very very happy with everything that I received. more

I have been going to this salon for over 3 years and would never think of leaving to go anyplace else. The styalists actually listen to what it is that you are wanting and make suggestions, the girls at the front desk always great you with a smile. I look forward to going and getting my hair done and know that I always walk away from there happy. Kelli is my styalist, but have used a few others and trust them all. Made an appointment with one of the top stylists so as to get the best cut and color possible. She did a decent cut but it doesn't work on my hair for me to do it myself. Too much thinned out on the ends, instead of falling under it wants to flip up even when using my chi iron it doesn't want to work. The color was nice. But apparently she over booked herself as she didn't shampoo or rinse my hair she had a Jr. stylist do it and the Jr. stylist had to dry my hair and style it as the stylist I booked was giving a pedicure to someone else. They charged me as if the Sr. stylist had done the entire thing from start to finish. Wouldn't have had a problem paying what they wanted if the sr. stylist had actually done my hair from start to finish, even though I'm not happy with the cut. It was however somewhat overpriced. Was refered to this salon by a friend and I regret ever going. It was 4 weeks before my wedding and I went in for over all color. The stylist was rude and said a lot of vulgur comments. After they were finished she realized that she missed almost 1/2 of my hair in the back. She did not mention this to me after the staff all started to wisper, the receptionist said something. I demand a refund or for them to fix my hair and after talking to the owner( who was not preofessional at all) offered to have someone else fix the problem( when it was convieant for them ) on a different day, so I had to take off 1/2 day to get their mistake fixed and they did nothing to compensate me for my inconvienance. I just needed a hair cut. When I walked to see if I could get one now I was greeted by the most friendly girl. She said let's have a look and went to I guess her computer screen. I think I caught a reluctant smile as she looked up then she said let me go check. 30 seconds later she was back with a no problem, Connie can see you in 5 minutes. I asked her what her name was and she said Jessie. Then she asked me if I would like something to drink, I said yes. As I was waiting Jessie asked me if I would like a massage right after my haircut? I had not had nor thought of getting a massage in a long time and said yes. As for the cut. Connie was great. A sharp wit chick from Queen's NY. Nice haircut and she had some conversation thing before she started cutting. She actually talked to me. And for the massage again a conversation thing or zone I think she said. Very nice good pressure. This salon is in a strip mall but the service and the atmosphere are top notch. more

But after that I didn't get the care and attention I wanted. I also felt like I was being rushed in and out. The atmosphere was generally pretty good but for the amount I was paying and the difficulty in making an appointment I didn't want to be taken for granted after I was a regular customer.
