My sister was coming down with some friends and wanted a place to stay for Labor Day weekend. We picked Carters because of the location and price. I paid a $50.00 deposit because they do not except credit cards or any type of payment over the phone. Well it is 5 days before Labor Day and with a potential Hurricane looming my sister was going to cancel her trip from North Carolina. I went in to the motel today to kindly ask due to the circumstances that they make an exception and refund the deposit due to the situation. The woman speaking to me was the owner and her first comment was ""chickens"" for not driving down in the hurricane. And the conversation just got worse from there, she was going to refund my cash deposit in the form of a check and then decided to stick to policy. No refunds on deposits! with nothing but rude sarcastic words. The end of the whole conversation was get the money back from you sister! I have been in customer service for a long time and would never think to treat anyone like that!!! All I asked for was the $50.00 deposit due to circumstances beyond my control. I guess that $50.00 was so important to them that they do not care if they lose 1000's because I will tell everyone I know, in town or out of town not to stay at Carter's Motel.
