Upon recommendations from friends I went to Dr. Walker when I noticed my daughters teeth seemed to have a cavity. She was only 2 1/2 at the time and it concerned me. Dr. Walker looked at her in a very "adult" setting with a big chair, bright light, mask, gloves, and dental probe. It really scared my daughter who began to cry and clench her teeth. He then informed me that she had 5 teeth that were rotten (I had only noticed 1) and that she would need extensive work and not only that - because she was so young she would have to go under general anesthesia. He was a very nice man, and his staff was caring, but it was a bit much for my daughter to handle.
But, perhaps all pediatric dentists have the problem of their profession being scary for young children.
