Dog Boarding - Do not use this service provider 9/13/2019

Don't take your dog here. Our dog Oliver spent almost 2 weeks at Carriage Hill. We picked him up this morning and he has a terrible infection on his balls. He has no history of any sort of infection like this. The kennel told us it just happened yesterday and that he gave it to himself by licking himself. I highly doubt both parts of their statement since (1) the infection looks so bad and is so scabbed over that there is no way it just happened yesterday and (2) this has never happened before from him licking himself, which he does because he is a dog. There was a complete lack of ownership of this error and responsibility of the kennel to reach out to us in advance and to get ahead of this infection. The kennel sent us away with some antibiotics but no head cone to keep him from licking himself. We will now need to go to the vet and get him checked out since we can't believe a word these people say. Our dog won't even sit down or lay down and is making constant sounds of being in pain. Don't take your dog here. more

My dogs were traumatized 12/6/2011

I will never let my dogs be hurt by Carriage Hills again. I brought 2 of my dogs here about twice before and had no problem. It was the last time I came, that I've vowed never to bring them back here again. My dogs are terrified of getting groomed (which I assume is how most pets are), but they weren't always like that. I brought them in to get the full treatment and was told to pick them up before closing time. When I came to get them, they looked cute with the bows in their hair, but their hair was not cut short as I had instructed the staff previously. No biggie, I took them home and they were just so excited to be out of there that I was happy. Once they got into the house, my mom went to go pet one of them on the back and my dog completely freaked out, she barked defensively and ran away. My dog is normally so sweet and happy that her reaction was a bit alarming. When my mom informed me of what happened, I went over to my dog to try and pet her and she flinched as she saw me putting my hand to her back. I could tell she was in serious pain and she looked so scared. She was completely fine that morning when I was playing with her. When I examined her back there was no visible wound. I'm not sure exactly what they did to her when she was there, but she came back with an injury (whether they hit her, mistreated her, maybe they grabbed her by the hair) . Everytime I saw her wince in pain, it broke my heart. A day later I realized why she was in pain, I noticed that the back of my dogs neck was very swollen. The size of the welt on her neck/back was probably a bit smaller than my fist, and my dog is only 15 lbs! I waited a couple days and noticed that the swelling seemed to go down, but I have never seen anything like that. I can't imagine what type of torture they put those poor dogs through. I will never bring either of my dogs there again. more

Carriage Hill, if you want the best! 1/26/2011

Good: I've boarded my dog at Carriage Hill Kennels for over 10 years and it has ALWAYS been a great experience for, both, me and my beloved brittany, Stella. Generally, my dog will stay for 3-5 days, several times per year, and it is a great comfort to know she is in such capable hands. The good people at Carriage Hill are true dog lovers and show my dog all the care and attention she could ever want. She is always happy when we arrive, well-cared for and leaves in high spirits. Highly recommended!. Bad: None. more

Aquatic Center 9/30/2010

Carriage Hill Kennels opened a pool specifically designed for dogs! It's the best and my dog Lucky loves it. It's great exercise and she does not smell afterwards like the lake. There is someone in the pool in a wet suit with the dogs at all times. more

Would You Trust Your Pet Here 4/30/2010

Look at this article by Chuck Goudie. Carriage Hill can write all the letters it would like, I still would not recommend them to ANYONE. They stress the animals out by leaving them outside for hours on end barking up a storm and disturb the residents nearby. Save your Pet -- GO ELSEWHERE 7/27/2008

The facility is dirty and their staff is rude. They held my dog there for over 9 hours and when I went to pick him up he was crying and terrified. It was all I could do to keep him from running out the front door. I had to pick him up he was so terrified. I have no idea what went on at this groomers, but I have NEVER experienced anything like that when picking my dog up from ANY other groomers. NEVER visit this facility for grooming, a kennel stay, or anything else they do -- you have been warned. more

This is decent place if you just need basic care for your animal. I would not say that they go above and beyond the care of your loved one though. The people seem nice once you get to know them, but they are not as friendly as you would expect and the doctors don't seem to be jumping to help us either. All in all, this place isn't too bad. Just be careful! more

bad service. 7/27/2005

I took my doberman there years ago,as i was in the process of moving and needed her to stay there for a couple days during my move. i was very displeased with their service. when they brought her back to me,she had a lump on the side of her face. i took her to the vet and he told me that there was a piece of glass embeded in her face and it was the cause of the swelling and was infected. the vet informed me that because the glass was in her skin so deep, the only way it could have gotten there was perhaps she was kicked by someone, and the glass was stuck on the persons shoe...would never take my animals there again. more
