Great bar and restaurant!! 7/23/2008

My husband and I frequently visit Carmine's in Bryn Mawr for dinner at the bar or a drink before a movie next door at the Bryn Mawr Movie theatre. The food is great, and I highly recommend the Crawfish Spring Rolls as an appetizer. The barkeep, Matt, is awesome as well. Happy hour I think is Tues-Fri at 5pm that has cheap Hoegarden drafts or wines by the glass. It gets loud at night but makes it fun. Highly recommended. Pros: Bar selection, food, timing, service Cons: Loud with live music on Fridays/Saturdays more

If you don't have a reservation, go somewhere else. 12/17/2007

This restaurant is packed and if you don't have a reservation, you will be waiting for a long time. Since there's no good place to wait, you will also be in everyone's way until they do find a table for you. The food is rather good though, so you may feel that it is worth it. The decor is great but the restaurant can be quite loud. Pros: Food, Ambience Cons: Long waits, Noise more

A great Experience 12/17/2007

We ate at Carmine's on a Sunday which is BYOB. eal.We were greated and seated promptly. The waitress was helpful and all questions were ansqwered without hesitation. The Duck Jambalaya Croquettes were to die for. Greaseless in a spicy sauce the beggest to be sopped up with bread. Main courses of the ribeye steak and blackened red snapper were perfect. Portions were large and there was enough ribeye to serve as a second meal. Pros: Quality and Quantity of food, Service more

Great service, ambiance and food. 8/6/2007

Just to clear things up for folks that don't already know, its actually not a BYOB anymore, but has a full bar and nice wine list. To begin with, the service was great. We were running close to 30 minutes late for our reservation on a Friday night, but when we finally arrived, we were greeted with a smile and promptly seated even thought the restaurant was already close to capacity. Our drink orders were filled quickly and our entrees were ordered soon after. The specials that we ordered were great, and I recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal with a bayou twist. Pros: Great Food, Fast Service and good location more

Best of almost anything 8/4/2007

First, if you regularly consult ratings for restaurants, you will know that CITY SEARCH is often incompetent and out of date. A perfect example is the listing for this restaurant ""Carmine's Creole Cafe'"". You will note that there are three listings for this establishment. Pros: excellent menu Cons: a little too casual, don't like the TV more

A bit sad that Citron did not meet expectations. 6/19/2005

As recent foodie transplants from San Francisco we expected Cirton to have much better ambiance and service that we received. First, what is it with every Main Line restaurants, including higher priced ones having a TV, with a sports game on while diners try to enjoy a meal? To us this is unacceptable and a BIG disappointment. If we wanted to watch/hear a game, we'd have stayed home or gone to a pub. In addition to this, we were met by one bored server, who seemed less than enthused to show us the wine list, serve promptly or ask about our meal, etc...As we are in our early-mid thirties, much younger than many diners, we feel perhaps our service was in neglect because they ""didn't think we knew enough about wine or food"". In the end we were not impressed. Pros: Good Parking Cons: Atmosphere, TV on, So-So Service more

Great place! 4/2/2005

Citron is a surprisingly great little place! The restaurant has great ambient light and a very attractive bar. The staff was accomodating and the food was phenomenal. I especially liked that they served wine in the right glasses. My husband and I had wine and an entree each and I was surprised at how in expensive such a good meal was. A great place! more

Try it! 4/24/2003

Finally, a great place to have dinner on the Main Line. What took so long! And a liquor license too. The food- Spanish influence made with fresh ingredients. Modified paella on the menu, crab cakes with lump crabmeat (not backfin), outstanding creme brulee and wine served in the right glasses. What more could I ask for? Less noise. When it's crowded (and it was) it's very noisy. more

Good eats! 2/7/2003

Recommended dishes - She Crab Bisque; Smoked Gouda Tart; Crab Cakes; Jambalya; Chicken & Waffles -- it's BYOB and cash only. I highly recommend making reservations. If you have a large party (10 people), they now have a private room on the second floor. Pros: reasonably priced, great specials, lively atmosphere more

too bad it didn't stay the way it starte 11/2/2002

not the same since narrowing their menu. It used to be great when they first opened with all the nightly specials, now there isn't too much special about the place at all. Can the owner afford a new shirt or does he only own black?! Hey we ate there again tonight...mistake! We waited for 40 minutes for our ""reserved table for 8"", they sat 8 of us at a table for 6, we asked for another table, it bemt the hostess out of shape! Our waiter sucked, we had to ask for water, bread, please clear our plates, het could we know whatyou have for dessert? 20 minutes later, could we please have our check... never refilled our coffee, we had to ask for water several times, the food was not so great... lesson learned... never again! P.S. Your shirt is too small (owner) and you are not that hot! Cons: cramped, late seating us, poor service more

Our favorite restaurant 7/26/2002

My wife and I love to go to Carmine's. We now are making up ""special occasions"" just so we have an excuse to go! The foie gras is unbeatable, and the daily specials are almost always worth trying. Chef Mims's lobster with coconut sweet rice topped with fried oysters may have been the best entree I've ever had. A hidden gem. Pros: food, value, parking Cons: small more
