I give this theatre a 2 star rating for the great movies they have to offer and has a clean-air quality to it. However, the things that matter most to me are seriously lacking at this theatre. SLOW lines to get the tickets. Even slower at the concession stands.. and they don't take people in order. It seems random people will walk by and 'pick' people in line to help. I can use my credit card to buy by tickets and then it doesn't work at the concession stand. This has happened more than once, I've told them to use the box office credit card machine and they act like it is a new concept. Seriously? And take forever to get a bag of popcorn. I'm always tempted to ask what conversation was so important that I had to wait over 5 minutes to get that bag of popcorn. I agree that it takes a long time for the movie to actually start, however I am always intriqued by the previews, so can sit through them. It is nice when they show movies on multiple screens, however, there is usually still an hour gap inbetween a movie start time, so timing for a dinner and a movie has now become a movie and dinner. I have to say that the not only the service is bad but seeing the result of why the service is bad. I see the employees goofing off and the managers not doing anything about it, other then joining in on the fun. Maybe it's just me who sees it every single time I go to the theatre but I wouldn't give this place even a two star rating. The employees need to be more trained and especially the managers, they need to do their part and make sure that thing's aren't doing so poorly! more

I like the theatre because it is very big and more movie selections and times. The lines for tickets are extremely slow including the concessions. I am not sure why but when I went to the moves at Carmike, I wanted a total of 20 minutes between the tickets and concessions. Then when it is time to go into the movie, the seats are full and you either have to seperate if your with a larger family or choose seats that are too close. I guess you have to find your seat before you get your concessions. The weekends are really bad and I would try to avoid the weekends between 6 pm to the end of the last showing. The prices of the concessions are high too. Otherwise they have friendly staff. Also the previews are too long. I timed it and they last between 20-25 minutes. This gets extreme especially if you have little ones with you. For kid movies they should limit the previews. The seating is great and comfortable. I was disappointed a few times I went because the surround sound was not on. This was very annoying since this is what they offer to their customers and then at times they don't use it. A terrible multiplex theater: - awful seats if you have to sit in the non-stadium section, your neck will be sore for days - some of the theaters are very small and cramped - 20, yes 20, minutes of ads and previews before the movie started - seats are not comfortable - the clean-up crew comes in right away as soon as the credits roll, and if you like to stay through the credits, they will stand right by you, practically tapping their toes, waiting for you to leave For a much better multiplex experience, head to Inver Grove Heights, the Kerasotes theater there has comfy, couch-style seats and it is just better in every way Pros: friendly ticket taker Cons: crowded, cramped, uncomfortable more

I am not fond of this theater. I don't like stadium seating because you end up sitting too far back from the screen. The concession lines at this theater are always slow. The popcorn is so-so. But the thing I absolutely hate the most is that you have to park what seems like a million miles away. They do have a great price for their bargain matinee shows between 4:00 and 6:00. Carmike in Oakdale is the best movie theater I have been to. The help is friendly and the movies are good. I love that the projectionists do such a good job putting the movies together and making sure they all are running at the right time. more

I think this theater is the best it has comfortable seats, fun people, all the good movie's, great food, and a large movie screen. it's great. The People Who take your tickets were very friendly. Carmike Oakdale is a mixed bag. It offers GREAT stadium seating w/ arm rests that can be put up and out of the way. They often have the big hits showing on multiple screens so you have many choices of movies times. Most theaters are large and offer digital sound. However, the ticket lines to get are usually really LONG and slow moving. Slower yet are the concession lines. If there are four people ahead of you in line, count on at least a 15-20 minute wait. I'm not kidding. They have serious problems with keeping lines moving at the concessions. They also tend to over-butter the popcorn, so if you don't want it completely drenched in ""butter-topping"", be sure to ask them to go light on the butter.
