Carmen Carmen Salon e' Spa

I wanted to let people knew what a terrible experience I had with this salon (at Cotswold). I called to make an appointment to have my hair color lightened for a anniversary trip with my husband. I told the receptionist I would like an appt. that day if one was available. I also explained that I normally did my own hair but tried a shade darker, didn't care for the results and wanted a professional to "correct" the color. She said to come at 3. I arrive and two girls start looking at my hair and making me feel awful! They were very condescending! They acted like it was a sin that I colored my own hair, even though I told them I had been doing it for years and loved the results. They told me I had "so many colors" in my hair (well YES, I like the contrast of highlights, and do not like looking like it was dyed all one color!) and asked if I had "been painting" in a very condescending tone... yes, I DID have a spot of paint in my hair... and yes as a matter of fact I painted my WHOLE house. ?? One hair with a tiny spot of white paint on the end of ONE hair did NOT surprise me. By this time I felt like I had a made a mistake! They acted like they did not know what to do to lighten my hair and made me feel like it was ruined (I knew better!!) They proceeded to cut about 6 inches off (I wanted a trim) and I HATED my hair when I left. It was not blonde at all. They also made me feel bad that they were staying over their normal closing time to do MY hair. I never asked them to do that...THEY made the appt.!! They had quoted me a price of 140.00 on the phone and charged 240.00. When I questioned the receptionist and pointed out that they had charged me much more than quoted she said, "well they had to use a toner". WHAT?? A toner is a simple process...?? Very cheap, too. My hair was not much different than when I came in but they assured me if I "kept coming in" they could get it blonde again. ??? The receptionist kept telling me how nice it looked, I think to convince herself! I knew better!! I went home and did it myself! Blonde. It is STILL growing out from the cut ... I have since found a WONDERFUL person to do my hair at a fraction of this cost. (Katie Byrd at Lennox Salon on South Blvd.) Whatever you do avoid Christina and Ashley at any cost... especially 240.00!! I do my own coloring once again and Katie keeps it cut. I LOVE it now. I have been a client of Donald at Carmen Carmen Cotswold for the past 5 years. I have never left the salon that I was not pleased with my hair cut or color. He stays up to date on the latest techniques and products. He listens to what I want and produces results better than I expect every time. The salon is easily accessible and it is also a relaxing environment. I would recommend Donald to anyone who wants to look like a million bucks and never worry about a bad hair cut or color again! more

I recently had my hair colored by Andrea at Carmen Carmen Salon in the Cotswold Shopping Center...she was FANTASTIC!!!! She performed a very complicated 3 process color on my hair and it turned out PERFECT!!! I would recommend her services to anyone who wants to look like a million dollars..Great staff as well, very friendly and courteous from the time I walked in to the time I left. If you have never been there, give it a try...I guarantee you will be a happy camper!!!!!! more

My first visit to Carmen Carmen was for a spa day. I had a mini facial, an hour massage and finished with a mani pedi. All of the services were outstanding. The spa area is great and so are the technicians. Jill did a wonderful job on my nails - in fact the manicure lasted for three weeks! She also does hair color, so I returned and she warmed up my blond or the fall season; it turned out great. All in all fantastic service from everyone and I will return! more

Donald Case is by far the Best in the Business! He has been cutting, coloring, styling... my hair for over eight years. I wouldn't go anywhere else.. That is , unless he left! What makes him different is his Vision! He is truly gifted! more

I normally visit Varji Varji to get my hair done; however my stylist wasnt available and all I needed was a toner on my highlights to bring them just a shade darker. I called Carmen Carmen thinking this was a simple process as I have had assistants perform this in the past. WRONG WRONG WRONG!! I walked out of Carmen Carmen with a COMPLETELY different haircolor. I had medium blonde hair prior to walking in, and walked out with dark auburn hair. WHAT?!!!! The girl who did my hair didnt even show me the final result, she just wlaked me to the front. Not only was it a different color, but there were splotches and areas where she completely missed putting color on. When I called to get a corrective color since I had spent over $1000 in the past 4 months getting my highlights where I wanted them, they scheduled me with another girl. I had a consultation with her, and felt confident that we oculd move in the right direction. Walking out, she tells me I will have to pay the difference of her price and the girl who screwed my hair up' s price. Then the front desk tried to charge me for my consultation!!! I have never EVER been to a salon that makes you pay for THEIR mistakes. I guess that is why I am a client of VArji Varji and NOT a dumpy, classless joint like Carmen Carmen. My hair is a dark brown now, with extremely suttle highlights underneath...so basically I have no highlights. Do yourself a favor and go to a salon that values its clients. This place is a joke!!! I cant believe they are still in business. more

Cheri Swain at the Cotswold Salon has styled and colored my hair for about 10 years. Every single time my hair is perfect, and I have often been stopped by total strangers to ask where I have my hair done. Ten years without one disappointment... that has to be a record! She is a master, and I value her artistry. She could go to any salon of her choosing, but she has been with Carmen for about 20 years. The best stay with the best. The staff is always welcoming, gracious and ready to help. I recommend this salon to anyone who asks. more

I get my hair cut and colored at the Cotswold Salon. Donald always gives a great hair cut and Andrea does my color just as I like it. The Loreal products are truly amazing. I just had my hair cut and colored by Brittnay. I look gorgeous. She is so talented and very sweet. I also booked a facial with Stephanie. I will always go back to Stephanie. She is wonderful. It was so relaxing and she helped me with my sensitive skin. I will definitely go back to Carmen! Carmen! and will recommend it to anyone. more

The service and responsiveness has definitely declined. They do not seem to care that you are kept waiting - never bothering to follow up with you and make you feel like you are valued.... Will not go back - made and appt at Varji & Varji more

2 years ago, I made an appointment for my 30th birthday (location University). I made the appointment 1 month in advance to make sure I would look flawless on this special day. The receptionist called me THE NIGHT BEFORE TO CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT. I called Varji & Varji and explained the situation. They were able to fit me in. Last month, I won a complementary pedicure from C&C. Therefore, I decided to give them another chance. I called a different location (NorthLake Mall). Again, they called me last night to cancel my pedicure. Both times AND both locations, they were not apologetic. more

I would have given this place five stars in the past, because my stylist (Angie) was incredible. But now she is gone and they won't tell me where she went. So, if anyone knows where Angie is working now, could you please leave a comment here? I've had stylists leave other salons in the past but the salon was always willing to tell me where they went and give me the option to stay or follow the stylist. A good stylist is hard to find and they are not interchangeable. more

I have been looking for a few of my favorite stylists because they left Carmen Carmen, and we all know they wont tell you where anyone went. Well let's just say I know a fellow ex-employee whom is a great stylist and friend who worked at the University location and was out of work due to medical absence.... And the company fired her while she was still out on medical leave!!!!! I feel personaly she was treated poorly and very unfair in her situation. Carmen! Carmen! must not care too much about their employees and only care about putting money in Carmens bank account!!!!! So if u have a stylist/friend whom you see just beware that they could be there one day and not the next!!! The company has no remorse what so ever!!! Take this information as you feel but I hate to see her gone and will let everyone I know about this situation and hope that they lose alot of business due to it! Great hairstylists are hard to come by and become people you depend on and I understood this employees situation and was completely fine with waiting on her to come back.... the other sylists I saw in her absence did not give me the services that she did. more

I have been coloring my hair for 30 yrs...auburn or a mahogany shade of red (not box color). I wanted to go blonde so I went to Carmen Carmen, thinking the name & rep was good. I ended up being there almost 8 hrs and had foils put in my hair 3 different times and YANKED out, giving me a headache by the #3 time. Did I leave blonde?? NOT! I ended up with beige hair! Not even close to blonde and $204. poorer for it. I'd not go back. It was a HUGE waste of my money and time. Pros: the people who work there are nice Cons: they need more color experience more

I recently visited Carmen! Carmen! and had a wonderful experience. When I walked through the door I was immediately greeted and offered something to drink. Instead of them pointing me to the waiting area, I was literally walked to the seat shown with an open hand. While i was waiting i was offered a complimentary hand massage which i definitely enjoyed! My service provider took me back to the nail room right on time and was very engaging. Not once did i ever feel like an inconvenience. After my nail appointment I went for my shampoo blowdry and again was offered a neck and head massage before my service began. During my service she explained certain techniques that she used to style my hair, she explained what products were used & how much to use of each. After the young lady was finished with my hair i was in awe! It was fabulous. I will definitely be returning to Carmen Carmen Salon!
