great place to take kids, bbq tastes great but is dry when you get it from the buffet, awesome burgers , good chicken fried steak, very quick and freindly, petting zoo and ponds to gaze out on, a must visit place in northwest houston Pros: service, atomosphere, portions more

I've been going to Carl's since I was in elementary school...I'm 26 now (but it's been around way longer than me). This place is like family to me and my family. The food is always excellent and it is THE BEST bbq around. They also have the biggest baked potatoes...my husband loves them! more

Carl's 290 location - 9/26/2002

I am reviewing the location on 290 - between Huffmeister and Telge Rd: This place is quaint and easy to drive past without noticing - but the parking lot is always packed, so I guess the secret is out! I have eaten there 3 times in the last 5 weeks - I'm hooked on the big burgers and incredible onion rings. At some point I will try the BBQ, which I hear is excellent. Note: dine-in seems a little crowded, and it's loud inside - but country-cozy. Cafeteria-line style ordering, seat yourself, casual. Pros: Great $$ value Cons: crowded inside more
