Awesome care from Dr. David and his staff 4/2/2011

I took my Shiloh to Dr. David for a skin condition. The girls in the front office were terrific with her. She was then taken to the back where they checked her skin, did some lab work, and had to express her anal glands. They also trimmed her nails. When I went back into the exam room, Dr. D. was sitting on the floor with Shiloh getting her used to him. My dog has fears against men as she was terribly abused before I got her. Shiloh was going over to Dr. D asking and taking treats from him! She would never go near the vets at the previous place I took her. She had to be dragged. Dr. David and his staff are wonderful to my lab and she trusts them more than any other vet;s office. I appreciate the way they take the time to get her to know them and she doesnt come out traumatized as she did from her previous vets. They treat the animals like they were their very own and I, for one, appreciate that, So does my Shiloh. Sounds like a previous comment or two had their nose bent out of joint for some reason. Caring Hands has always been great with us and we are not looking to change vets any time soon. more

Great Veterinarian 10/27/2009

David Bernander, DVM is one of the best diagnosticians in the area. He loves his animals and the animals that he cares for. I have been using him for many years and trust only him with my surgeries. I have several cats and dogs. \r \r The bad review sounds like someone that must have worked for the clinic. ie, sour grapes.\r \r The building is an older building, but who cares? I take my pets there for the best veterinary care that my money can buy.\r Pros: Surgeon for Pets Cons: Older building more

Dont judge a book by its cover 10/27/2009

The place is not a luxurious resort. If you are the kind that gives your dogs bottled water, kisses them on the mouth, or lets them sleep between them and their spouse on the bed, this is probably not a place for you. For the rest of us who love our dogs (but maybe less than our kids) and who do not mind if the dog sleeps on the floor, well this place deserves your attention. They are universally kind, professional, and I always get my money’s worth. The vet actually spends time with you explaining the dog's condition, etc. It is a throwback to old-time vets I remember from my childhood. I get the feeling this guy would make house calls if he could. I am constantly surprised how they can offer so much of their time at so little a cost.\r \r I have boarded my dogs there on several occasions and they always come back clean, happy, and apparently well treated. \r \r One downside - the place does look dated, and maybe a bit worn, but OK, I've seen my dog roll in dirt and drink from the toilet, so I figure he really doesn't mind that the pattern has rubbed off the linoleum in the place we board him. \r Pros: value for dollar, great caring staff, they know dogs! Cons: kinda old, worn and cramped more

Great vet and staff 3/30/2009

Dr. B is an excellent vet who also breeds great dogs. I've always been impressed with the time he spends explaining things to me and how gentle he is with the dogs. And, when I get my bill, I'm always amazed at how little he charges during these times. The facility isn't the most modern, but it's adequate and I appreciate the fact that it keeps my vet bills affordable for him to have lower overhead. I can't believe any of his current staff would be rude although they do stay very busy. Joy also has a way with dogs and knows how to groom one for show. My dogs' health is very important to me and I feel very secure with their care they receive here. Pros: Excellent vet with reasonable prices, great hours Cons: Don't expect luxurious conditions but adequate more

Not a good place to board your babies! 7/28/2008

I try to give every place the benefit of the doubt but this place is a bad place to board your pets. First off....I asked to see where my pets would stay...what a mistake!!! It looks worse than the local pound. It is an old dark buidling and they keep all the pets in the dark most of the time. It is soooo sad and dirty looking. I know most boarding facilities are not fancy but this one is plain awful. Also, I think it must be dirty because one of my dogs had a bad bladder infection (a very bad one...my vet told me...I took my dog the very day I picked him up from there) when he came home and the vet said that they had no idea how this could have gone unoticed by a vet (caring hands has a vet on staff). My other dog had a bacterial stomach infection. I had to spend all kinds of money the week I picked them up because both of them were sick. I understand some boarding causes stress on dogs but I have boarded them many other times at other facilities without ever having these problems. They also seemed to be a bit traumatized or something. I will never take them back here. They are cheaper than most places so I thought I would save some money but ended up spending more money on vet bills so I learned my lesson (you pay for what you get!). Pros: cheap rates and good office hours Cons: rude staff and poor boarding facility more

Awful Vet 7/7/2008

Do not board your pets here. I boarded mine there for the first time over the 4th of July holiday and when I picked him up today he had filth and dirt on every leg, urine caked on the tops of his hind legs and his elbows are raw and swollen from where he was clearly not given a blanket to sleep on and instead had to sleep on the concrete floor. He looks like he has not been fed in 4 days and drank 3 bowls of water when we got home. The place itself is not nice and they clearly have no idea how to care for animals. Cons: Awful animal care more
