If looking to inquire about the college, the best thing to do is find out for your selves instead of basing it off of others opinions. Ask anyone and they will tell you the same.

Worst

I started at CPC in January for the VN program. The lady I spoke with and did paper work with was very unorganized. I called her twice to change my number and she never changed it...

Editorial review from Citysearch 6/18/2013

I am surprised to see such negative reviews. I taught at their Tulsa location for two years. Not sure it's still there. Yes there were some problems, lots of turnover, but many of the students had good experiences, learned the curriculum and found jobs. I taught the Microsoft Office programs and did computer repair for them. Loaded the netbooks that were given to those in the degree program and felt it was a pretty good value. We always looked to the San Antonio campus for assistance and direction. I have no regrets working there and felt that the students in my classes were given their money's worth in class instruction and assistance in self direction, which was a key part, in my opinion, in preparing them for the working world. more

School is garbage and the curriculum's are garbage, I feel embarrassed as I wasted my time here and pretty much learned nothing. There is nothing positive about this place at all, I'm also ashamed to even say I went to this ""school"", as I have not found a job in the field of study that I was attending this institution for, months later. Seriously they wanted some students to apply for a job at a place called West which is a telemarketing call center, a job that requires no prior education whatsoever and has nothing to do with the courses studied. They have not returned any of my e-mails or phone calls. I found out recently they have no real accreditation. I've just decided to start from scratch and attend a San Antonio college's nursing school, an accredited school with a legit education. For profit schools such as Everest and Career Point are nothing but a rip-off.\r If you want to continue your education don't be conned by schools like these, who promise you a ""shortcut"" to education and a real career. There plan is to advertise and market to as many people as they can, to fill out Fafsa's and rip them off to leave them in debt, all the while the student believes they are getting a legit education. Go through the traditional college for 2 years to get an associates degree, don't cheat yourself by taking these ""shortcut"" colleges. P.S I moved here from Chicago a year ago, so I knew nothing about this school, should of done my research first. more

BAD SCHOOL!!!...... 4/7/2012

Well....I have never been there, BUT....I will say this much I will never EVER enroll in a school that non-accredited. They are a non-accredited school....if you want to waste your time going to a school that doesn't give you a degree and gives you a piece of paper printed out with some words...then CPC is your place. If you want a degree you need to do it right and actually go to a community college. These places are scams....they are there to make you feel like you have no other alternative, BUT YOU DO!!!! The community colleges here in San Antonio are ALOT cheaper then those so called 'schools'. You can do better than that piece of crap place....do not waste your time or money. For the amount you would pay at CPC you could pay 4 years at a community college....INCLUDING BOOKS and school supplies. more

Career Point College 3/30/2012

Every single negative review is correct. I went to work for CPC as an addmission counselor, I thought I would be helping people change their lives. I soon realized what a farce it was. Every day we were told multiple times we would be let go for not signing up enough people and how the owner spends $65000 a week advertizing. I was told to make them feel like a looser, we drew a chart showing them what a looser they were so they would want to change their life, we were told to try and make them start crying about their pitiful life, then paint a picture of the wonderful life they would have after graduating. They thought they were getting a diploma but in fact they were getting a worthless certificate. I couldn't do it, I wasn't heartless enough and they knew it so I was let go after 4 weeks. Thanks CPC for the guilt I still feel for signing up the few people I did get to sign up. CPC is regulated by a government agency and that is why they get away with it. They also leave your private records laying around the offices because they are to cheap to buy files and file cabinets. Oh yes, I took pictures as proof. more

Awful school, awful people , but why complain here? 2/24/2012

I agree with the negative reviews. This place is awful. The people that work here for the most part are nothing more than salesmen and loan sharks in my opinion and the quality of education recieved is pathetic. I had a relative attend the school a couple of years ago and heard her many horror stories about this place from the overcrowded classrooms, the unprofessional staff and the overall poor quality of education. She was in the paralegal program and said that 99% of her classes were not even taught by an instructor rather someone handing her a book and telling her to do for the most part busy work. I did a research paper on for profit schools while attending UTSA and tried to get in contact with Career Point for some quotes, what I got was continuous calls from them asking me if I was interested in enrolling and even had one salesman tell me that the quality of education at Career Point was far superior to that of UTSA. I ended up getting in touch with Mr. Hagan who told me that I had no business doing a research paper on Career Point and that he would only answer questions for my paper if we were in the presense of an attorney. All of this over some questions for a research paper. I say this, complaining on a message board or a facebook or twitter is going to do nothing. If you have proof that Career Point has did something illegal toward you and you have proof, hire an attorney or get in contact with your congressman. I would also say to go to the media with your story. San Antonio Express News has an education writter who would probably love to get your story. That being said be ready to have them discredit you. I have read the story of the young lady that came forward and they tried to make her look like an awful person. Sadly, for profit schools like this and others have become big because they seem convenient and you can get a degree and get to work fast. They feed on the working poor, like one guy said, single parents and the unemployed. In reality you can get a better degree for a fraction of Career Point's cost at any legit school in San Antonio (Alamo CCs, UTSA, St. Marys, UIW, etc.). Any school that advertises an associates in 18 months and a bachelors in 2 and a half years is a scam. If it sounds to good to be true it probably is. You will get an associates or bachelors, but it will be one that is worthless to any respected business. In closing I will say if you have proof a lawyer, a talk with a congress rep. and/or the press are your best options for getting your story heard. CPC is a for profit school who is only in business for themselves. They could care less if you get that ""high paying job"" because you won't see any offers for more than maybe $8.00/hr. anyway. more

CROOKED BUSINESS - DO NOT ATTEND OR CALL THEM 9/7/2011

This is a crooked business, not a school. They will make it easy to enroll and EXPENSIVE to leave. more

Crooks, Scam Artists, Liars shall I continue? 8/14/2011

Sadly, I can't give out a negative star rating, too bad. Let me start by saying that the good reviews posted on here are probably from Career Point employees, because there is honestly nothing positive to say about this place. Allow me to break this down. Career Point is a for profit school, which basically means they are in business for themselves and could care less if the student is successful as long as they are getting paid. Their ""Admissions Advisors"" are basically a sales department whose sole purpose is to get as many students to enroll as possible, and will do whatever it takes to get them to enroll even if it mean lying to them. I had a friend who was scammed by this place, so I decided to call and get some information from them on their cirriculum. The lady I spoke with over the phone tried every way she could to sale me on attending the school, she told me CPC's credits transfer to other state schools, LIE, she told me tuition was competitve with other local schools, LIE, you can attend any Alamo Community College and get a real degree for about 5% what tuition is for an Associate's at CPC, in fact my Bachelor's degree from Texas State cost me less than an Associate's would at CPC, and it goes a lot further. The instructors are people from the field they are teaching, but do you really think a successful nurse, lawyer, computer technician or business professional would be working at CPC and not at a high paying office? This place targets low income individuals in desperate need for a job, ever wonder why all of their commercials are on during Maury and Springer? It is sickening that these people feed upon the lower class of our society and reap benefits from them, while these poor souls are stuck in debt up to their ears while still trying to provide for families, children and whatever else the case may be. I have talked with many graduates of this place, and was told that employers laugh when they find out they went to CPC, and mock their ""Thanks Career Point"" commercials. I mean come on if you were a lawyer would you hire someone with a paralegal degree from CPC or UTSA? If you were a doctor would you hire a nurse from CPC or Incarnate Word? more

I started at CPC in January for the VN program. The lady I spoke with and did paper work with was very unorganized. I called her twice to change my number and she never changed it. The day before when they make the phone calls, they were calling my references because she didn't write down my number. more

the worst mistake i ever made!!!! 3/13/2011

Career Point is a move i wish i had never made. I went there in 07 I was a young mother and wanted to make something of my life. What a mistake !!! as i was attending teachers were getting switched everyother week and at that as the work was getting tough the teachers didnt know what to do so i was left to fend for myself and figure it out myself. I know i didnt pay 15 thousand dollar to teach myself. It was pissing me off here i am now stuck in student loan debt and no degree. I am trying to file a class act against them because they were not accredited while i was attending i want to have them atleast wipe the student loan off my credit and off my name .i am so in debt because of this mistake i dont know what to do. DO NOT ATTEND THIS JOKE THEY CALL A COLLEGE attend san antonio college they are one of the best and there tuition is about 13 thousand dollars cheaper and they actually care about your education. BEWARE OF CAREER POINT COLLEGE it is a move you will regret. more

Take Control and Responsiblity for your Education! 11/15/2010

CPC is accredited but anyone looking into college accreditation, particularly for private tech colleges, will have learned that it is best to start&finish in their programs. That?s not unique to CPC. ""Real"" private colleges have similar issues w/ courses transferring to a state university. Folks that are complaining about this may not be familiar w/ traditional universities. Complaints about classrooms (run down, smell, people walking in&out) I agree could be a problem&should be reported when possible. Maybe they will have a owned campus one day,but this could impact costs so complainers should keep that in mind. If testing I would complain&move right then&there. It is your education&potential career. Take the outcome into your hands&stop complaining! Ultimately any college/tech training programs U will only get out of it what U put into it. When I see posts about parking, drugs, sex, skanky girls jibber-jabbering in the back of class&disrupting things...all sounds like what I experienced off&on while attending traditional universities so this isn?t unique. Get over it/work around it/report it constructively&focus on what U need to do. The admissions process was informative, in part because I EDUCATED MYSELF on the school&their programs before going in. As an adult it's your responsibility, not theirs. No one can force U to sign up or take financial aide for school or daycare. That is ridiculous. Complaints about cost are unfair in my opinion. U always have options-go to Community College or another tech school if U choose. U may not like your options but U have them.U are paying a premium in tuition for a couple reasons-the time frame to finish is accelerated to put U in a position of employability as soon as possible. This is valuable for many. Taking the similar programs via traditional colleges would typically take longer. It is also a ""private"" school. They ALWAYS cost more. Regarding job placement leads-they cannot&do not promise U a great job, or any job. That is UP TO YOU. They offer U leads. There may be limited openings at the locations that have provided leads to CPC so there will be more people competing. That's life.U have to equip yourself w/knowledge&a good attitude to increase your chances of being the best candidate. And remember that right out of any program U are starting at entry level. It goes up from there typically depending on your work ethic&attitude. Once U get into the work place it matters little WHERE U went to school. It matters more THAT U went, did well, completed it, etc. Once hired it is up to U to display qualities of a good employee. Take pride in your educational efforts regardless of where U went. And strive to be a life long student. Work on always learning more about your chosen field. This is key. U know if U worked hard or not. If those around U don't, believe me that 9 times out of 10, it will prove out in the end when they are unable to keep jobs&constantly burn bridges behind them w/every job they are lucky enough to get. And EVERY orientation day at every school or job I've had could be described as a bunch of people coming in to tell U what&how to do stuff. That's the point. Suffer through&make it to day 2. I have gone to school or training of some sort for the past 22 years (not including grammar&High School)&have earned an Associates, Bachelor's&MBA along w/several industry IT certifications all thru non-traditional college attendance (working full time, going to school at night, weekends, etc.)&it takes work, suffering thru mediocre instructors at times, annoying classmates, etc. But it isn't about them....it?s about YOU. Make it count. more

Take a step forward in your life. 9/3/2010

I’m not going to sit here and argue with all these comments. Instead I’m just going to say that I’m grateful to career point. I don’t know where I would be without the experience I got there. I can now say proudly that I did something in my life that actually paid off. I can single handedly support my family without having to send my pregnant wife out to work just to pay the bills. I appreciate what this school has done for me. more

Instead of bashing the school you shoud look for a job. 9/3/2010

I don?t know what school the other people went to, but my experience at career point was completely different. First off, the school is not all runned down as the previous person described it. I constantly see the maintenance working on projects here and there, retouching a wall with a fresh coat of paint, fixing anything that needs attention. Oh, and the vending machines are there. If you miss them, you may need to go get your eyes checked out. Besides, I don?t know why anyone would rate a school on vending machines. Most of the computers have windows xp. The only ones that have windows 2000 are the ones in the typing class. But who would need more to type, it?s not like you?re going to be typing at 3000 words per minute. As far as the free laptops go, you have to be enrolled in the associates program, and taking online courses. You can?t just walk up to your teacher and request a laptop. Everyone is going to laugh at you. What I see here is just negligence. One person somehow managed to miss everything, and is now venting with a review. And please take pride in what you do, self pity will get you nowhere.....Fast! more

CPC 8/26/2010

I think this is the same lady that is on the Yahoo local pages bashing Career Point. Don't let the opinions of this one crazy fool you. This is a very good school and its sad that a few bad eggs don't get handed a diploma and make a big stink about it. Make a valiant effort at all cost, don't sit around and settle and expect stuff to fall in your lap. I attended CPC alittle over 2 years ago and do not regret it one bit. i'm now working a sweet little PC Help desk job and reviving quarterly raises, oh and guess who placed me here. Don't let this negativity create a false front, go check out the school. It could be the best investment in your future you've ever made. more

SCAM!!!! 8/25/2010

tori - 07/02/10 Oh maryw12381 - I sooo agree with you!!! LOL Poor Poor CPI. I was a Career Point student (not proud) in 06 passed with a 4.0 and had no good job leads like they claimed I would. They do just send you off to job fairs and to some $7.50 hr jobs when they have them available BUT at that they tell everyone else in your field about that one job so its like a gigantic flock of vultures . How can any one afford to live off of 7.50 hr ?? I know I sure cant, which was the reason I went to this school. The reviews which have rated CPI with 1 star are extremely real and 100% HONEST. I can vouch for many of their claims, from the teachers passing you for nothing or little to nothing , favoritism, the teachers just sitting there playing on their computers, the staff (in my time there ) had a high turn over rate, they DO aggressively pursue you after you inquire, The do not fully inform you of what you are getting yourself into when you sign your financial aid life away upon many many more which i probably would not have enough room here to include. I can say that it is a scam, they do have SOME (very few) good things about the school but the bad outweigh those by leaps and bounds! SO AFTER READING THE 5 STAR REVIEWS ON HERE I COULDN'T HELP BUT LAUGHING AND THEN FEELING SORRY FOR THE SCHOOL AND PEOPLE THAT WROTE THOSE. FUNNY THEY ARE ALL 5 STAR REVIEWS, SOME HAVE THE SAME NAME AND SAME DATES. I WOULDN'T DOUBT IT IF CPI HAS TURNED THEIR RECRUITERS OR SO CALLED ""ITT DEPARTMENT"" OUT ON TO THE INTERNET TO ATTEMPT AND REVERSE THEIR BAD BUT HONEST REVIEWS. SAD SAD STORY............Beware! Don't go here! Let's start with the admissions process. Sure, they will get you financing but think about 20% interest on a loan, and they will try to get you to finance daycare too. That's bad bad bad. No job guarantee, and even worse it's waaay too expensive. You can get the same training at any community college for 1/3 the cost. Next, the cheesy ""orientation"". A bunch of random people come in for 2 days telling you what to do, and half the time you're just sitting there with nothing to do but look at the falling down walls and the Bentley pulling in the office with some old hag carrying a $4000 purse and a couple of dogs come and go. Whatever. Next, try getting your books. They are always ""ordered"" Good luck getting them before you finish your program. Next: the classrooms. Underfurnished and understaffed, they hand you a book and say ""read"" you'll catch up. If you're thinking maybe this wasn't a good idea, run! Yes, it was hard getting finally enrolled and actually starting school, but this place is a total rip-off. Sorry, I digress. Back to the classrooms, and students. This is absolutely the place to come if you want to expand your drug business, or hook up. Sex in the parking lot is a common thing, as are regular drug deals. I'm surprised the cops haven't figured that out yet. I will say I know a couple of friends that actually did get out of here with a better job, but for all the crap around here, it's hardly worth it and there's other schools that will do the same thing without making you feel like a chump for going there. The management is a joke. The owner is a creep, but I hear he has a big boat. Maybe that's what the 20% interest on a $15 thousand dollar loan is paying for. Again be warned! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!! more

worst mistake you could ever make! 8/25/2010

This school is Terrible!!!! They aggressively presue you after you call to inquire about the school. Then once they get you into the office to ""look"" at the school they don't let you leave until they sign you up. Check this out, 3 of the 5 instructors that i have had either give you the answers to the tests or they dont even look at the tests and mark the it with a passing grade. theres no attendance policy because they really dont care if you show up or not unless your getting a bus card: meaning they are paying for it. Once the school scams the financial aid out of you, your screwed because if you drop out they keep your money and your on your own. We just got 5 new students in our class that didn't even get their books and they asked the 5 students to share 1 book! In all of my classes there's groups of stupid girls that sit in the back of the classrooms and laugh, talk over instructors, and constantly disrupt the class. Ive seen so many people get up and actually walk out of classes because theres no reason to sit in the class when you cant even hear the instructor. The school itself is ugly the buildings are falling apart inside, some of the classrooms stink, and dont even get me started on the restrooms! I even had one class that was connected to another and students were constantly walking in and out even while we were testing. The only thing that actually looks good at the school is the admissions office of course. Oh and im going to school there currently and there is not a damn thing new in that school. id love for you to tell me where the new computers are: the school is still using windows 2000, and where are those vending machines? i have classes in all buildings and i haven't seen any...... also i hate to burst your bubble girl, but i promise you'll never see a laptop from that school lmao!!!! A laptop hahaha i'm gonna go ask for one tomorrow!!!! Oh, there are a FEW good instructors but it's really just a waste when you can't even get your books. Career point is a scam so make sure you think check every other school you can before you waste your time here. My cousin went to kaplan and she said it was awsome. I have a 4.0 and i go to school everyday because i have to make the best of what i got, but I know when a potential employer looks at my resume and they see career point, they will probably trash it hopefully someone will take pitty on me and give me a job. Don't just take my word for it, but do your homework and don't make the same mistake i have. i rated the school a one only because i couldnt give it a zero. SHAME ON YOU CAREER POINT!!! more

Horrible School 8/25/2010

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! THE SCHOOL LOVES TO CLAIM TO BE ACREDITED AND EVEN CALL THEMSELVES A COLLEGE BUT THE TRUTH IS THEY ARE NOT ACREDITED THROUGH AN ORGANIZATION THAT MATTERS. AND POTENTIAL EMPLOYERS KNOW THAT. THE ONLY WAY TO GET A LEGIT SOLID EDUCATION IS TO TOUGH IT OUT AT A REAL SCHOOL THAT IS ACREDITED THROUGH THE SOUTH TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY. YOUR CREDITS ARE NO GOOD AND ACCORDING TO THE SOUTH TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY NON EXISTANT IF YOU GET THEM FROM CAREER POINT. more

Career Point College 12/21/2009

I have been going to career point for several months now. The instructors are extremely knowledgable. Most of my instructors have worked in there fields of study for years, unlike other colleges who have instructors that went to school to do just that, instruc, with no real world experience to pass onl Pros: They have a mix of online courses and hands on assignments more

Career Point College is great 12/21/2009

I am a graduate of Career Point and I have a great job with benefits. Best of all I am doing somethin I am proud of. Pros: Courses that fit my schedule, Onsite daycare Cons: The teachers are so concerned they will check on you at home more

I like the school 10/28/2009

I've been going to Career Point for several months and I am happy here. The people on the phone were great and the admissions rep was very helpful. They helped me get my financial aid and I was able to start right away. I am taking 2 online courses and I love them. They just announced that when I get in my second year they are going to give me a laptop for free. The floors, walls, and equiment are new. The instructors help me out alot and I love the hands on that I get here. The only downside is the parking. If I am running late, I have to walk from the back of the parking lot. Pros: Great instructors Cons: crowded parking more
