Captain Levi's Fiberglass Boat Repair

I found the right man. I had just Goggled transom replacement and wound up with Captain Dave. He not only did a great job on replacing my transom, he pointed out that I have a classic boat. It is a 1965 Glastron. I have had it for over 40 years. I did not realize it was a classic. I have just always loved it and Captain Dave told me why other people felt the same way. He showed me how the hull design was unique. I would highly recommend him, a very knowledgeable, talented craftsman. more

WOW! What a great repair to our 80' Riva yacht at the Vinoy. All work was completed right at the marina and the price was great and the work was perfect. This company is so much better and less expensive than the few boat yards the area. We had work done at another nearby boat yard in Salt Creek and took a bath on the work and the price. Call these guys and save yourself a ton of money and have zero issues after work is completed. more

Very Happy: I researched and talked to several companies before choosing to bring my boat to Capn Levi's to have the bottom redone. The boat was badly blistered and had no anti-fouling paint on it previously. He took the time to explain the process and the options available. Dave and the whole crew were great. The price he quoted was right on and he did everything he could to complete the work quickly despite the cold and rainy weather. They did the work carefully by hand, no shortcuts and no sandblasting that can cause further damage. We were very pleased with the results and hope to bring the boat back next year to have the topsides redone. more

I've been working with Captain Levi for about 2 months now while selecting a new (for me) boat. I had the opportunity to speak to the Captain several times prior to making a purchase and he successfully advised me on the pro's and con's of the different vessels I had been exploring. i own a 50' hatteras that had some soft spots on her main deck. i interviewed several fiberglass experts and each had a different solution. i chose dave holley @ captain levi's because his approach was unique, far less destructive of my boat and priced very fair. i am pleased with his work and would not hesitate to use him again. if you call captain levi's be sure to speak with dave. he is very knowledgeable in this field, he has a lifetime of experience, he knows almost everyone in the local boating business and he is what you might call a colorful waterfront character. he is honest and dependable, qualities that are rare among boat repair people, VERY rare. dave is one of life's good guys and i predict that you will enjoy working with him. more

I had purchased a Sea Ray with some stress cracks in the transom and a buried washer in the gelcoat. The previous owner overtightened the bolts. Gave Captain Levi a call after hearing about him from a friend, looked him up and saw his reviews. He was great from the 1st time I spoke to him about the damage. I explained I did not know the extent of the damage and also wanted an honest answer on an expected cost. He went to the house checked it out while I was at work, called me with price and I was surpised. It was far less than I expected he explained it more cosmetic than anything else, no water intrusion and even if the was it was minimal. Told him lets get it done. He showed up while I was at work, spent the whole day there repairing the damage. He returned 2 days later after the repair had cured and dried. Buffed it out you would never know it was repaired. Left the money with a family member he was within 50 dollars of the quote. That is quite awesome without being able to rip into it first, without knowing the internal extent of the damage. He given me tons of tips and pointers on detailing, removing bottom paint, and even calls to see how I am making out with the boat. A special thanx to Ryne and Rob at fiberglass services. We took on a fiberglass project with no prior experience in fiberglass. We first called Captain Levi's fiberglass boat repair to give us an estimate on repairing our 14 year old son Bobby's first boat. The back of the boat where the motor is attached was very weak. Captain Levi said it needed to be repaired at a cost of about 600. dollars and the boat was not seaworthy to use. My son almost cried. He only had 275. to spend. Captain Levi saw Bobby's disappointment and told Bobby, look lad you ccan fix this boat yourself.This is what you do. And the captain showed him how to do it. He gave Bobby Fiberglass services phone # and a material list including what tools he would need and Fiberglass Services had how to books. Or he could go to the library and check out what they have. He called Ryne at Fiberglass Services, put in his order and Rob delivered it to the door for a total cost of $187.With the great advice and encouragement of Captain Levi and the technical support of Fiberglass Services, our son is a proud skipper now. My boat was in really in rough shape.It was severely oxidized and waterstained. I asked Captain Levi and his crew to check her out. I really didn't expect much, so I was completely surprised with the end result. I originally had them clean it up so I could put it for sale. \r But now that I'm looking at my boat the way it is supposed to look, I have decided to keep it for awhile. Lesley and Christine have brought detailing boats into a whole new category.What they did with the upholstery alone was worth every penny of what I paid for the entire job. I own a 1978 34 Morgan that I purchased new.Every year we have her pulled paint her bottom, new zincs, repair any gelcoat damage and get afull detail.The boat yard we used since 1978 closed two years ago so we were forced to go else were last year.The new yard did and ok job with a very high end price.A fellow boater recommended Captain Levi and were very glad he did!They did a great job better than are old yard are old morgan looks new again and there bill was very fair! A very special thanks to Christine and Captain Levi. My wife and I are THRILLED with the way our Donzi looks. We brought our Donzi to Captain Levi for service. You know the drill oil, filters tune up, the norm. Captain Levi suggested we have her detailed. We have kept up with that part since we have owned the boat for the last 5 years. This year we havn't used the boat much with the price of gas. But now we are going to make up for lost time. So we told Levi to go for it. The first thing they did was put a real scrubdown on all the compartments including the bilge. And they removed all the bottom stains with some kind of magic cleaner. We had never done that and what a difference. Next, Levi and his dad machine compounded the gelcoat surfaces and our Donzi was really looking good. Then, Christine came into the picture. Captain Levi introduced her to my wife and myself and said she would be finishing the boat. When they were done for the day, my wife made us a cocktail and we admired well the boat was looking. Christine started back on the boat at 8:00 am sharp. Just as I was leaving for the office, I told her my wife would be home all day and if she needed anything just let her know. My wife called me at the office just before lunch all excited. She said Christine just finished phase 1 of 3 cleaning the teak and it really looks good. She would be polishing metals and waxing the gelcoat after noon. When I got home, our Donzi looked better than the day we got it. Pros: They are THE BEST!
